Rangers managed to grind out a draw against Villarreal in the Europa League last night.
Steven Gerrard’s side went down to 10 men in the first half after Daniel Candeias was sent off but the Ibrox outfit held on for a valuable draw.
Candeias was sent off after a second yellow for his foul on Santiago Caseres.
Glenn Middleton almost won the game for the home side but he was ruled offside.
Keeper Allan McGregor produced another inspiring display to push his side over the line. Rangers could have easily lost the game if not for his performance.
Gerrard will be delighted with the experienced shot stopper’s performance so far this season and he will be hoping for more of the same in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Rangers fans were delighted with Allan McGregor’s performance against Villarreal as well.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his display and here are some of the best reactions.

Allan McGregor is the best goalie to ever pull on the Rangers jersey.

May prove controversial. But I think Allan McGregor is @RangersFC best ever keeper. We’ve had Goram, Woods and Klos. But McGregor is phenomenal. 👏🏻 pic.twitter.com/JHpKKiJ7di

What a well deserved fucking point. Allan McGregor is a hero, absolute hero.
Referee was pish, but that final 10 minutes, Ibrox rocking, team giving it all for the jersey, a love it.

Celtic picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Rosenborg in the Europa League last night.
A first half goal from Scott Sinclair ensured a vital away win for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Celtic boss will be delighted with his side’s performance in Trondheim. The win leaves Celtic needing a draw against RB Salzburg to qualify for the knockout rounds of the competition.
The likes of Rogic and Forrest were excellent for the visitors and the fans will be delighted with the individual as well as the collective performances.
One player who particularly impressed the Celtic fans was Filip Benkovic. The young defender was imperious at the back and he was instrumental in the win.

Newcastle summer signing holds the key vs West Ham

Newcastle summer signing holds the key vs West Ham – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Newcastle made the worst possible start to the 2018-19 season, having failed to win a single game in their opening ten matches.
The club’s off-the-pitch issues are well documented, but the series of poor results left football pundits and journalists wondering on social media whether Rafael Benitez should be equally blamed for the mess.
Benitez was always confident that his team will turn it around. And they indeed turned it around. With three wins on the trot, Newcastle have jumped to 13th in the league, four points above the relegation zone.
In fact, they sit ahead of West Ham, their opponent on Saturday. The Hammers have won just once in their last six matches in the Premier League, and are heading into this tie low in confidence, having lost 4-0 against Manchester City in their last match.
One player who particularly impressed for the Magpies is the summer signing Ki Sung-yueng. The 29-year-old, who joined from Swansea on a free transfer, struggled initially at St James’ Park, failing to cement a regular place in Benitez’s side.
However, his performance against Watford changed everything. Ayoze Perez scored from Ki’s free-kick to earn the Magpies their first win of the season.
The vastly experienced South Korean started against Bournemouth, and impressed heavily. Newcastle United won the match 2-1. He was ‘majestic’ against Burnley in the last match.
He is expected to start against the Hammers, and once again, holds the key against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. His intelligent passing and ability to create chances could prove handy.
Newcastle vs West Ham Betting Tips
Salomon Rondon has scored two Premier League goals this season. Bet on the forward with Bet UK to open the scoring on Saturday at 13/2.
Last season’s corresponding fixture .finished 3-0 in favour of the Magpies. Newcastle are 6/4 to win this fixture.
The two sides have conceded 38 goals between them this term. Bet at 11/10 for over 2.5 goals in the match.

Arsenal legend explains the one thing stopping Aubameyang from becoming like Henry

Arsenal legend explains the one thing stopping Aubameyang from becoming like Henry – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Arsenal host Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates on Sunday in what is expected to be another fierce north London derby clash.
Only three points separate both sides heading into matchday 14 and bragging rights apart, the striking duo of Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be relishing the chance to outdo the other after their impressive start to the campaign in front of goal.
The Spurs man has seven league goals to his name so far this season, while his Gunners counterpart tops the charts with eight – alongside Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.
Victory for either side could come down to the duo’s performance on Sunday, and former Arsenal centre-back Martin Keown believes the Gabonese can be the man to carry the team going forward.
“He has been in fine goalscoring form but I believe he can be even more ruthless. There are still chances that he misses. He just needs to have a little more self-belief,” Keown wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“I have said before that Aubameyang is the closest thing to Thierry Henry and he reminds me of Henry when he first arrived at Arsenal. Once Henry realised that his performances could take the team to another level, he flourished.
“Aubameyang’s stats are already outstanding. When he starts to believe that he can be the man to carry this team, he will get even better.”
The 29-year-old has been in fine form since arriving the Emirates from Borussia Dortmund in January, and he has since established himself as one of Arsenal’s most important players.
Aubameyang can also feature out wide in order to accommodate Alexandre Lacazette upfront, and it remains to be seen if manager Unai Emery will opt to start both of them against Tottenham.
Thierry remains Arsenal best goalscorer of all time, and the Gabonese will have to keep improving and attempt to win at least two league titles if he is to ever become as legendary as the Frenchman is.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on the Everton forward Richarlison.
The Brazilian has been in red hot form since joining the Toffees and he will be looking to make his mark in his first Merseyside derby this weekend.

Klopp on Richarlison: “What a player he is.”
— paul joyce (@_pauljoyce) November 30, 2018

Richarlison will be delighted with these comments from a world class manager like Klopp. The former Watford player is a top quality talent and if he continues to improve, he could be a Premier League star.
Klopp also heaped praise on Marco Silva and the Everton squad in general. The Liverpool boss revealed that this is the best Everton squad he will be facing in the derby.

Klopp says #EFC have the best tuned squad since he has been at #LFC. “They have everything there… Digne is like a young Baines. They are 100% a European (competition) team.”
— Ian Doyle (@IanDoyleSport) November 30, 2018

It will be interesting to see how the Reds bounce back after their disappointing performance in the Champions League game during the midweek.
The home fans will be expecting a big reaction here and the Liverpool players will have to step up and deliver.

Pundit gives verdict on Middlesbrough vs Aston Villa; tips tempting correct score

Pundit gives verdict on Middlesbrough vs Aston Villa; tips tempting correct score – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Aston Villa visit Middlesbrough on Saturday aiming to continue their resurgence under new manager Dean Smith.
Villa have picked 10 points from their last four games to move onto the fringes of the promotion race, although they blew a golden opportunity to win against 10-man Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
Middlesbrough head into the weekend third in the standings and Sky Sports‘ pundit David Prutton has tipped them to boost their own promotion hopes with a 2-1 victory against Villa (17/2 with Sky Bet).
“Is this game going to be another 10-goal thriller involving Aston Villa?” he said.
“I can’t imagine that’s too likely with Middlesbrough involved, especially considering they have conceded just 10 times in their 19 games so far.
“Villa would have been disappointed not to hold on against Forest on Wednesday night, but what an incredible game it was.
“Boro will make it tough for them at the Riverside and I fancy them to edge the win.”
Villa took four points off Boro last season, winning 1-0 at the Riverside before drawing 0-0 back on home soil.
Middlesbrough are priced at 6/5 to win the game, with Villa on offer at 23/10 and the draw available at 9/4.

Alan Shearer explains why he would have loved to play for either Celtic or Rangers

Alan Shearer explains why he would have loved to play for either Celtic or Rangers – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur go head to head on Sunday in the north London derby, and though the clash is considered as one of fiercest on the planet given the bitter rivalry between both sides, English Premier League’s highest ever goalscorer Alan Shearer believes no English derby compares to the Old Firm’s.
Scotland’s biggest two sides Celtic and Rangers continue to offer one of the most electrifying atmospheres in the game whenever they play at Ibrox or Parkhead, and Shearer has revealed he would have loved to have a taste of such action on the pitch.
“I have been to all of the big derbies in England but nothing has quite eclipsed Celtic vs Rangers in Scotland,” the Newcastle legend told Coral.
“The atmosphere was just sensational. I would have loved to have played in that game in my career as it just seems such a special occasion.”
Shearer played for the Magpies, Blackburn Rovers and Southampton, scoring a whopping 260 top-flight league goals across the three clubs.
He sure would have been a hit at Celtic or Rangers during his heydays had he moved to the Scottish Premiership, and that he rates the Old Firm derby above the Manchester, Merseyside and all London derbies says a lot.
The Hoops and Light Blues are competing strongly for the league prize this term, with only two points separating them after 13 rounds of games.
Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic narrowly edged out Steven Gerrard’s Rangers 1-0 in the first Old Firm clash of the season in September, and the Liverpool legend will hope his side can come out tops when they meet at Ibrox late December.

Pundit gives verdict on Sheff Utd vs Leeds; many visiting fans unlikely to agree

Pundit gives verdict on Sheff Utd vs Leeds; many visiting fans unlikely to agree – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Sheffield United host Leeds United on Saturday aiming to crank up the pressure at the top of the Championship.
The Blades head into the game in the play-off places, just three points behind leaders Norwich City. Leeds are second, a point adrift of top spot.
Chris Wilder’s side triumphed 3-2 at Brentford on Tuesday, while Leeds won 1-0 at home to Reading.
Sky Sports‘ pundit David Prutton believes the Blades will make things difficult for Leeds this weekend and has backed them to record a 2-2 draw (12/1 with Sky Bet).
“Sheffield United are fifth in the table heading into the weekend, but a decent win would see them move top of the Championship ahead of the rest of the 3.00pm kick-offs – that’s how close things are right now!
“Leeds have won their last couple of games despite their injury problems, but the fixture list has been quite kind to them and they have Bailey Peacock-Farrell to thank for that fantastic late penalty save against Reading.
“There should be goals in this game, but I fancy a draw here.”
The Blades did the double over Leeds last season, winning both games 2-1.
The home side are priced at 5/4 to win the game, with Leeds available at 2/1 and the draw available at 12/5.

Newcastle step up efforts to beat West Ham to 13-goal star, would be a superb move

Newcastle step up efforts to beat West Ham to 13-goal star, would be a superb move – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Miguel Almiron would be a superb signing for Newcastle United.
The Magpies are apparently stepping up their efforts to sign the MLS playmaker in January and West Ham are interested in the player as well.
As per reports from this week, Newcastle are holding talks for the 24-year-old in the USA this week.
Newcastle could use another creative player and Almiron has shown that he has the ability to make a difference in the final third. It will be interesting to see how quickly he adapts to English football if he makes the move.
The player is valued at around £25million and Newcastle might have issues with that price tag. Mike Ashley isn’t exactly known to back his managers in the transfer market.
Almiron has 13 goals and 11 assists in 35 MLS games this season and he could be the man to unlock Rondon’s potential at the club as well.
The Newcastle forward has been starved of service so far and a creative force in behind him would be ideal.

Gerrard says in-form Rangers man reminds him of world class star

Gerrard says in-form Rangers man reminds him of world class star – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on striker Alfredo Morelos for his tendency to play on the edge.
Gerrard believes that players like him make special things happen on the pitch. The former Liverpool player also revealed that Morelos reminds him of his former teammate Luis Suarez.
Morelos’ aggression and ability to make something happen is similar to that of the Barcelona star.
Gerrard isn’t comparing the ability of the two players and his comments certainly make sense. There are stylistic similarities between the two players.
The Rangers boss added that Morelos needs to work on his discipline and the club will help him in that department. Morelos has picked up 11 bookings and he has been sent off twice already this season.
Morelos has been ever-present for Rangers this season and he has been the best player at the club. The Colombian has scored 16 goals for the Scottish giants so far this season.
It will be interesting to see if he can cut out the indiscipline with time. Morelos has all the tools to be a top quality player in future.
