Tottenham Hotspur will likely go another transfer window without making any signings with just a few hours to the end of January, and the club’s new stadium project has without a doubt taken a huge toll on their finances.
No player was signed in the summer, and the Spurs’ squad depth has already taken a huge hit in recent weeks.
It remains to be seen if linked-away manager Mauricio Pochettino will remain at the club for much longer, but the fans will hope Tottenham can hold on to him and their key players for the foreseeable future.
The north London club recently suffered the ignominy of being knocked out of two competitions in four days, and given the quality of competition they face in the Champions League and Premier League, their chances of ending 2018-19 without a trophy are very high.
While most neutral fans continue to poke fun at the club for their trophy drought, Spanish football expert claims some of the Tottenham fans he has spoken with are actually in awe of the rapid and sustained progress the club have made since Pochettino’s arrival.
“The fans are in awe of what’s happening,” Balague said on BBC 5 Live Sport.
“The fact that they are completely in communion with the team. Wembley is perhaps not the best home to enjoy all that, but they seem to be happy, because they remember not so long ago where they were.
“Most of the ones I speak to say “we understand there is no money, how can you really compete, we’re overachieving”, which they are.”

“It gets to a point where Pochettino doesn’t owe anything to Spurs. I think we’ve reached that point”@GuillemBalague on #THFC and fans’ expectation 👇 pic.twitter.com/mqh4FYEbnZ

Tottenham have become a top-four side under the Argentine, and have played impressive football since he came.
They will be looking to give Liverpool and Manchester City the run for the money till the end of the league campaign, and it will be interesting to see how far they can push the duo, or maybe even cause an upset and steal the league prize from under their noses.

Michy Batshuayi wants to move to Tottenham Hotspur, but Chelsea won’t deal with their London rivals.
Respected journalist Alan Myers has claimed that the striker is eager to seal a switch to Spurs, but the Blues won’t sanction a loan move.
The Belgium international spent the first half of the season on loan with Valencia, but his deal was cut short.
Chelsea had reportedly agreed on terms with West Ham United and Real Betis over a loan move for the striker.
However, his wages proved to be a stumbling block for both clubs.
Batshuayi’s demands are believed to be unrealistic for a player that has scored just eight Premier League goals since moving to Chelsea for £33 million in 2016.
His representatives are understood to have offered the 25-year-old to Spurs, with their client now completely out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
Gonzalo Higuain’s arrivial at Chelsea has pushed him further down the pecking order, but his current club are unwilling to stengthen a top four rival.

“Kazaiah has risen to the various challenges he’s faced throughout his development in youth football, and he arrives at Sunderland ready to prove himself again,” he told the club’s official website.
“Tottenham have a world-class squad and, despite his age, he has forced his way into it on more than one occasion, but now he has the opportunity to come here and test himself by playing senior football on a regular basis.
“He’s athletic, good on the ball and has an eye for goal, so he has all the attributes at his disposal to ensure he’s a success during his time at the Stadium of Light.”

Guillem Balague gives major update on Benitez contract renewal following Almiron's arrival

Guillem Balague gives major update on Benitez contract renewal following Almiron's arrival – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Newcastle United completed the signing of Paraguay international midfielder Miguel Almiron from MLS side Atalanta for £21million earlier today.
The 24-year-old is now the club’s record signing, surpassing the £16.5million the Magpies signed Michael Owen for from Real Madrid in 2005, and his arrival could now define the future of one of the club’s key men.
Having refused to sign a contract extension and threatened to leave if two players aren’t brought in this month, manager Rafa Benitez could now reconsider things, and Spanish football expert Guillem Balague reckons good news could be on the way.
“I’ve heard Rafa Benitez has been approached by a club in China and one in Saudi Arabia, both of them willing to pay €10million (£8.7million) net for two years,” the respected journalist revealed on his official YouTube account.
“This was about two months ago, and he said no. He had on the table a renewal of his contract for five years at Newcastle, which he hasn’t signed yet.
“With Almiron arriving, he should be a little bit happier. It’s taken a while for this to happen, but he would like this to continue, not as a one-off but for Newcastle to invest in the squad.”
From the look of things, Benitez wouldn’t hesitate to put pen to paper if he can be guaranteed of new signings during the next summer transfer window.
Defender Antonio Barreca has also been signed on loan from Monaco, and Benitez has surely been boosted in his mission to keep Newcastle up this term.
The Spaniard’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and while it’s unknown when he would sign an extension, assurances that more quality signings will be made will surely convince him to eventually do so.

Chelsea forward Lucas Piazon has joined Chievo on loan until the end of the season.
The move, confirmed on the club’s official website, sees the 25-year-old join Chievo’s battle to avoid relegation from Serie A.
The Brazilian joined Chelsea in August 2011 but has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, making just three senior appearances.
He has regularly been loaned out, enjoying spells with Malaga, Vitesse Arnhem, Eintracht Frankfurt and Reading.
Piazon joined Fulham on loan in 2016 and played a significant role in helping them reach the Championship play-off semi-finals.
He returned to Craven Cottage last season, playing 25 times in all competitions for the club.
He was an unused substitute in the play-off final as Fulham secured promotion to the top flight with victory over Aston Villa at Wembley.
Piazon, who has represented Brazil at U23 level, is likely to make his debut for Chievo at Empoli on Saturday.
His new side have won just once in Serie A this season and are currently five points adrift at the bottom of the table.

Newcastle United have surely signed a gem in Almiron judging from this brilliant clip

Newcastle United made Paraguayan playmaker Miguel Almiron their record signing after agreeing a £21million deal with MLS side Atlanta United for his signature today.
The 25-year-old signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Magpies, and he will be hoping to hit the ground running and repay manager Rafa Benitez’s faith in him having been under his radar for almost a year.
Almiron is expected to bring goals and assists to a Newcastle side that often struggles to create goalscoring chances, and after hitting 13 goals and assisting 11 others in 37 league games in 2018, it is safe to say he is very much up to the task.
The Paraguay international midfielder is definitely a great talent, and judging from this clip, Newcastle have landed a big gem for themselves.

Any player who eventually breaks Newcastle previous transfer record – the £16.5m signing of Michael Owen from Real Madrid in 2005 – is surely worth it, and the fans will hope Almiron does enough to keep the club going in the Premier League going forward.

Guillem Balague delivers transfer updates on Michy Batshuayi and Lucas Perez

West Ham United are looking to wrap up a deal with Chelsea for Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi, but Real Betis and Everton are known to be keen on securing the services of the speedster.
The Hammers also want to send Lucas Perez on loan to Betis, and Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has taken to Twitter to provide the latest update on both deals.

Despite Chelsea and Betis agreeing loan deal for Batshuayi, the player wants to go to the Premier League

As reported by Sky Sports, Chelsea value Batshuayi at £30million and would prefer to do business with Everton, but it seems the Merseyside club are no longer interested in a deal.
The Belgium international is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, and has spent the first half of the season on loan with Valencia, but he hasn’t impressed enough and the Spanish side want to let go.
With Perez on his way out of the London Stadium, Batshuayi will be a perfect cover for Marko Arnautovic, and his Premier League experience could come handy as he tries to get back to top form again.
It remains to be seen how West Ham plan to sort out the deals before 11pm, but it sure promises to be an exciting closing hours to deadline.
Everton had earlier registered interest in moving for the Belgium striker, but any move would hinge on the club being able to sell out-of-favour striker Cenk Tosun today, and the Turkish isn’t short of suitors.
The Goodison Park outfit will most likely prefer a loan move should they register a serious interest in Batshuayi later in the day, and with the striker keen on returning to the Premier League, it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Report: Jan target undergoing medical at Leeds as club closing in on third signing – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to reports from Sky Sports (transfer live blog, 14:34 pm), Swansea City winger Daniel James is undergoing his medical at Leeds United ahead of the move.
The 21-year-old winger has been Leeds’ first choice target this month, and after going through a long process of negotiation that took several twists and turns, the youngster seems to be on his way to Elland Road.
Leeds were willing to pay a fee around £5 million plus add ons for the Wales international, but Swansea were reluctant to sell him at that price.
However, Swansea failed to keep hold of him after the player has told Swansea’s owners he wants to leave the club.
Leeds will sign the Wales international on loan for the rest of the season, with an obligation to make the move permanent if the Yorkshire club are promoted to the Premier League.
According to reports from BBC Sports, Leeds will pay a loan fee of around £2m, while the permanent transfer fee could be worth more than £10m including add-ons.
