Reliable journalist responds on whether Leeds could sign PL striker available on a free transfer

Leeds United will be looking to bolster their strike department in the summer transfer window, but the Whites certainly won’t be making a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente, according to Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The Spanish international, who joined Spurs from Swansea City in 2017, will be leaving the north London club after the Champions League final against Liverpool.
The 34-year-old won’t be offered a new deal at Spurs, and he will be a free agent at the end of the season. This has led to some Leeds fans speculating that he could do a job at the Yorkshire club.
One Leeds fan asked the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist whether Leeds could sign the former Athletic Bilbao striker on free, to which Hay responded on his personal Twitter account that “it’s not feasible.”

you’ve got to be realistic about the sort of wage someone like Llorente earns. A bit like Milner, it’s not feasible.
— Phil Hay (@PhilHayYEP) May 30, 2019

SL’s Verdict
Although Llorente will be available on free, Leeds won’t be able to match his £75k-per-week wages.
Llorente is approaching the fag end of his career, but he is still sharp enough to play for any mid-table Premier League club or elsewhere in Europe.
For a player of his calibre, he won’t be willing to drop down to the Championship at the moment, although his chances of getting regular games are high here.
Leeds should look to sign young players from the Premier League (either on loan or permanently) and follow Aston Villa’s recruitment strategy (signings like Tammy Abraham and Tyrone Mings) that yielded them success last season.
Hay is absolutely spot on here. Leeds fans should be realistic about the players the club can purchase, and certainly, Llorente is beyond their reach.

Gerrard tells Pochettino what he should do regarding starting Kane against Liverpool

Gerrard tells Pochettino what he should do regarding starting Kane against Liverpool – originally posted on

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has a major selection headache ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League final against Liverpool.
Star striker Harry Kane has been out of action since limping off against Manchester City in the first-leg of the quarterfinals early April.
The England international has since joined the team in full training as he looks to regain full fitness ahead of the clash against the Reds.
Kane is raring to go and has declared himself fit for the match, but his lack of match fitness will be a huge concern for Pochettino.
Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has adviced the Argentine to play the 25-year-old if he has proven himself to be 100% fit and ready during the training drills.
“If the numbers in training are telling me as a manager that he is fine, he’s fit, he’s sharp, he’s looking healthy. Harry Kane plays, it’s as simple as that,” the Rangers boss told BBC 5 Live Sport.
“I don’t think you’ll be able to live with yourself if it didn’t go well and your best player is sitting on the bench behind you.
“But if the numbers in training are saying he’s not a 100% and he’s only 80 or 90%, then he starts from the bench.”

Listen to the legend Steven gerrard from my show this morning ,, To Kane or not to Kane? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️
Will #THFC gamble with their star man and start him in the #UCL final?
Steven Gerrard gives his take 👇

Kane has 23 goals for Tottenham across all competitions this term, and he will be hoping to play all 90 minutes against Liverpool tomorrow no matter what.
It is the biggest game of his career so far, and he won’t want to miss the chance to finally get his hands on a trophy as a big as the Champions League.
The trio of Fernando Llorente, Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son have all stepped up in his absence, and Pochettino has a big decision to make for tomorrow.

Report: Three Rangers players set for Ibrox exit this summer including 12-cap int'l

Report: Three Rangers players set for Ibrox exit this summer including 12-cap int'l – originally posted on

Glasgow Rangers are almost certain to be active in the summer transfer window again. While new signings are expected to arrive, several fringe players are likely to be heading towards the Ibrox exit door.
According to reports from The Scottish Sun, Kyle Lafferty has been told to find a new club this summer by Steven Gerrard. The 31-year-old striker failed to make a substantial contribution after making a return for his second spell at the club.
Likewise, the report claims that Graham Dorrans, the 2017 signing from Norwich City, is expected to leave the club as well.
The Scottish Sun adds that Lafferty’s international teammate Gareth McAuley has not been offered a new deal, which means the former West Brom defender will be out of Ibrox as well.

SL’s verdict:
Lafferty was signed to provide a back-up option for Alfredo Morelos. However, the former Norwich striker couldn’t replicate the form he showed for Hearts and has been sparsely used by Gerrard.
The Northern Ireland striker has no shortage of options though, and a move away from Ibrox will be perfect for all the parties involved.
Dorrans is a class player but he has struggled with injuries since signing from Norwich. Last season, the 12-cap Scotland international managed only three games in all competitions, and he is surely not the player on which Gerrard would love to build his team around.

Report: Euro club eye move to sign 23-year-old Celtic star

Report: Euro club eye move to sign 23-year-old Celtic star – originally posted on

According to reports from the Daily Record, French giants Marseille are glancing their eye on Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham.
Last summer, Lyon snapped up Parkhead hero Moussa Dembele for £19million, and it seems Marseille will be looking to test Celtic’s resolve on Ntcham.
The report claims that Marseille’s scouting staff have still been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old and have placed him high on their transfer window wishlist.
SL’s verdict:
Ntcham was brilliant in the 2017-18 campaign for the Bhoys, but failed to sustain that high standard last season. Still, he made 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.
The Frenchman signed a new long-term deal last year that will keep him at the club till 2022. Therefore, Celtic are under no pressure to sell him at the moment.

However, anything can happen in a transfer window. Ntcham could be tempted to return to his homeland and play under Marseille’s new boss Andre Villas-Boas, who took charge at the club following the sacking of Rudi Garcia.
They are set for a major recruitment drive and squad restructure, and have identified Ntcham as the man to bolster their midfield.
Celtic signed the French U-21 international for a fee in the region of £4.5 million from Manchester City, and they should demand a high transfer fee for him, in case they are forced to offload him. At the moment, there is nothing to worry about.

Report: Arsenal looking to beat Spurs to the signature of 20-goal midfielder

Report: Arsenal looking to beat Spurs to the signature of 20-goal midfielder – originally posted on

According to The Times, Arsenal are looking to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek this summer.
Spurs want to bolster their squad after failing to do so in the last two transfer windows, and they have identified the Netherlands international as one of their targets ahead of next season.
Gunners boss Unai Emery is also keen on van de Beek as he looks to strengthen his squad after watching them fall to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the Europa League final on Wednesday, but the Ajax star has been rumoured to be heading to Spurs for £45 million.
The 22-year-old, who has 20 goals in 94 league appearances for the Eredivisie giants, was one of their best players during a successful domestic campaign.
Van de Beek also impressed as Ajax reached the Champions League semifinals, and will no doubt desire to move to a bigger side.
However, Arsenal’s lack of Champions League football means their chances of landing the midfielder are slim, and Spurs will be in prime position should they win the final at Liverpool’s expense tomorrow.
The in-demand star scored 16 goals and assisted 12 others in 49 games in 2018-19, and more suitors will definitely enter the race to land him alongside Arsenal and Tottenham.

Report: Celtic to step up chase for 10-goal Rangers target

Report: Celtic to step up chase for 10-goal Rangers target – originally posted on

Glasgow Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Charlton’s highly rated midfielder Joe Aribo to Ibrox this summer, but they are likely to face competition from arch rivals Celtic.
According to reports from The Scottish Sun, Neil Lennon will be appointed as the permanent manager of the club before the weekend. The Bhoys are in talks with Lennon over his contract, and the negotiations have progressed well.
The report claims that Lennon has been keeping tabs on Aribo since he took charge of the club in February as the interim boss, and the Bhoys are preparing to make a move for the exciting midfielder.
Aribo, who joined the Addicks in 2015, played an important role in Charlton’s promotion to the Championship from League One last season, scoring 10 goals.
Charlton hope that a return to the Championship will persuade the 22-year-old to stay at the club.
Rangers are also interested in signing the former Staines Town midfielder, and it remains to be seen whether the Gers make a swift approach for him before Celtic swoop in.
Both Celtic and Rangers could go on to sign the exciting midfielder for a modest compensation fee due to cross-border transfer rules.

Teenage sensation dreaming of winning EPL with Leeds scores nine goals in 12-0 rout

Teenage sensation dreaming of winning EPL with Leeds scores nine goals in 12-0 rout – originally posted on

The ongoing under-20 World Cup saw the match between Norway and Honduras set the record for the biggest win by any team in the history of the tournament.
Norway under-20 breezed to a very comfortable 12-0 victory over nine-man Honduras, and Leeds United fan and Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland grabbed the headlines for scoring nine goals – the most scored by a single player in a match in the competition’s history.
The 18-year-old is the son of former Leeds United defender Alf-Inge Haaland, and while he is eligible to represent England having been born in the country, he has opted to represent Norway.

— Ali Iqbal Tahir (@AliIqbalTahir) May 30, 2019

Haaland told Norwegian newspaper, Aftenposten back in 2017: “I want to be the best possible.
“The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds. In addition, the goal is to become a better player than my dad was. I hope to get more caps than he did.”
Haaland terrorized defences during his time at Molde, scoring 14 goals in 39 league games, and Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be proud of his former player after last night’s heroics.

Erling Braut Haaland = One that got away. He plays for Norway but he was born in Leeds and is a Leeds fan. Still think it’s a shame we didn’t take a punt on him a year or two ago when we scouted him. He got a big money move to Austria in January. #LUFC
— Tom Holynski (@ThommHol) May 30, 2019

The Red Devils scouted the teenage sensation last July, and his latest hat-trick of hat-tricks would surely have caught their attention (once again) and that of plenty sides across Europe.
Haaland would surely have been gutted seeing Leeds miss out on promotion, and it remains to be seen if his childhood dream of winning the top-flight with the Whites is still alive.
Leeds surely could do with a prolific striker right now and going forward, and just maybe Haaland’s dreams could come true.

Report: Everton planning summer move for Barcelona forward, talks start next week

Report: Everton planning summer move for Barcelona forward, talks start next week – originally posted on

According to Sport, Everton are keen on bringing out-of-favour Barcelona forward Malcom to Goodison Park this summer, and will start talks with the Catalans next week.
Having brought in the trio of Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes from the Camp Nou outfit last summer, the Toffees want to raid Barca again, and snapping up the Brazilian winger shouldn’t be hard if all parties can come to an agreement.
Malcom featured in 22 games across all competitions for the La Liga giants in 2018-19, scoring five goals and two assists, but only nine of those appearances were starts, and Everton are optimistic of sealing a deal as they are able to offer him much more playing minutes.
Manager Marco Silva could do with more quality attackers next season, and the former Corinthians and Bordeaux winger can offer them the needed quality in the final third.
The Barcelona man scored 12 goals in 35 league games in his last season at the Ligue 1 club to earn a move to Spain last summer, and while he has struggled given the quality in the star-studded side, he could turn successful like Digne once he starts playing more regularly.
Malcom is able to play on both wings, and will be a solid addition to the Blues given his direct style of play – one similar to compatriot Richarlison.

Rio Ferdinand explains why he wants Spurs to win UCL but expects Liverpool to

Rio Ferdinand explains why he wants Spurs to win UCL but expects Liverpool to – originally posted on

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will battle it out in an all-English Champions League final on Saturday, eleven years after Manchester United and Chelsea played the last all-English final.
The Reds will be keen to comfort themselves with a victory after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City, while Spurs have a lot to prove after falling apart in the second-half of the campaign.
Ex-United defender Rio Ferdinand would love to see Tottenham win, given how manager Mauricio Pochettino has turned them to a side to reckon with with very little transfer budget.
Spurs didn’t make any signings in the last winter and summer transfer windows, but still managed to finish in top-four and are in their first ever Champions League final.
While Ferdinand will be cheering Tottenham on, he expects Liverpool to win given their superior individual brilliance and the experience of recently playing in a final.
“I’d like to see Spurs win – and that has nothing to do with the rivalry between my old club and Liverpool. TV viewers will have seen I celebrate good football and great goals, whichever team scores them,” the Red Devils legend told The Sun.
“And I certainly won’t be losing any sleep if Liverpool carry off the trophy. But I admire the job Mauricio Pochettino has done on a budget which is relatively small compared to other major clubs in Europe.
“That said, though, I expect Liverpool to win. Last season’s defeat in Kiev will stand them in good stead and they have more weapons in their armoury with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane up front and their two raiding full-backs Andrew Robertson and Alexander-Arnold. They have a fantastic manager in Jurgen Klopp who, while not always calm on the touchline, will need to be calm in the dressing room beforehand and give his team the belief that they will win it this time.”
A huge game is expected between both sides, and most United faithful, including Ferdinand will surely be rooting for Spurs.
But will that be enough for the North Londoners to shock Jurgen Klopp’s men?

Report: Spurs star with £25 million release clause is on Arsenal's radar

Report: Spurs star with £25 million release clause is on Arsenal's radar – originally posted on

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Toby Alderweireld is on Arsenal’s radar as clubs begin to circle around the Belgium international with his Spurs’ future in doubt.
His current contract allows him to leave for £25 million this summer, and Manchester United are also among those keen on his signature.
Spurs activated the option to extend his contract by a year in January, and the deal finally expires in the summer of 2020.
Suitors have until two weeks before the August 8 transfer deadline day to lodge bids for Alderweireld, and it remains to be seen if Arsenal will make a move given the bitter rivalry between both North London teams.
Manager Unai Emery’s side were torn apart by Chelsea in the Europa League final, conceding four goals in the second-half in the 4-1 loss, and missing out on Champions League football for the third season running means the Gunners won’t have much to spend this summer.
The 30-year-old Tottenham star can help solve Arsenal’s defensive woes in the short-term, but it is almost impossible to see him cross the divide this summer, especially if Mauricio Pochettino’s side win the Champions League final on Saturday at Liverpool’s expense.
