Spurs eye move to sign £22m midfielder, some fans react – 'Good luck', 'Hell of a player'

According to reports from The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are showing keen interest in signing James Maddison from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
Leicester signed Maddison from Norwich City last summer, paying £22.5million, and the move has proved to be a masterstroke as the 22-year-old finished the 2018-19 campaign with seven goals and seven assists.
He was at his creative best last season, racking up 100 key passes – the only player in the Premier League to do so. And his brilliant performances have caught the attention of Spurs who are expected to remain busy this summer after failing to sign a single player in the last two transfer windows.
Leicester will try their best to keep hold of their star player.
The report claims that the Foxes think that they will face a fight to keep Maddison. However, they are in a strong position to demand a high transfer fee for him.
Given his creativity, Maddison may well be seen as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen who is yet to commit his future at Spurs.
Some Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their reaction on the club’s interest in Maddison. Here are some of the selected tweets:

Yeah but not for too much
— ᴀʟᴇx (@_10Kane) May 29, 2019

I rate Maddison but wouldn’t want to spend any more than £35m on him
— Peter (@_petey_pan) May 29, 2019

Hes lazy not same versatility as Eriksen. Eriksen played holding again Ajax after Wanyama got injured, Sissoko played more advanced (funny enough) n he was brilliant. Ut wil b a grt loss if he goes cos hes class. Maddison nah not convinced

Fabregas absolutely lays into Ozil following Arsenal horror show against Chelsea

Fabregas absolutely lays into Ozil following Arsenal horror show against Chelsea – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Arsenal were handed a 4-1 drubbing by Chelsea in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, with the Blues proving too much for them to handle.
Despite a goalless first-half, Olivier Giroud, Pedro Rodriguez and Eden Hazard put Maurizio Sarri’s side into a comfortable lead after the restart before Alex Iwobi pulled one back for the Gunners.
Hazard pegged Arsenal back once again three minutes later, condemning them to a third season without Champions League football.
Unai Emery’s men put in a below-par performance, with Mesut Ozil particularly failing to inspire the side when he was needed the most.
Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas didn’t mince words after the German’s horror show, and while he believes the ex-Real Madrid player is an excellent player, he reckons he doesn’t have what it takes to lead the team in him.
“I think sometimes you just have it inside or you don’t have it. When he was at Real Madrid he was surrounded by top top players and one of the best players in the history of the sport in Cristiano Ronaldo,” the former Arsenal captain told BT Sport (as reported by football.london).
“I’m not taking anything away from Mesut, he played top football there, but once you step down a little bit, because we can all agree Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich they are top three, you have to show yourself a little bit more because you don’t have the same quality around you.
“The club buys you to be the actual leader around the club. I don’t think Mesut has that in him to carry. I don’t train with him everyday, but I don’t think he has it in him to be leader.”
Ozil was withdrawn 12 minutes from time for Joseph Willock, and was pictured on the substitutes bench cutting a dejected figure.
There is doubt over the future of the 30-year-old at the North London club, and following a woeful performance last night, Emery might be keen to get rid of the Germany international as he looks to cut cost in order to bring in new players this summer.
Ozil is Arsenal’s highest paid player, and with the club’s transfer budget now dealt a massive blow following their failure to qualify for the Champions League, getting him off the wage bill could be pertinent.

Chelsea lifted the Europa League trophy after beating London rivals Arsenal in Baku on Wednesday.
Eden Hazard, who has probably played his last game for the Blues, scored twice and made another to help the Londoners beat Arsenal 4-1 on the night.
Former England striker and popular football pundit Gary Lineker took to social networking site Twitter to express his reaction after the game. He has praised Hazard for his ‘brilliant’ display and said Chelsea will miss him if he leaves the club.
He added that he is pleased for Blues boss Maurizio Sarri who won the first trophy of his managerial career. The result also means Arsenal will not be playing Champions League football next season.

Congratulations to @ChelseaFC on winning the Europa League. Superb 2nd half performance and a brilliant display from @hazardeden10 ….possibly his last for the club. Boy, they’ll miss him if he goes.
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) May 29, 2019

Really pleased for Sarri, lifting his first major trophy. 👏👏
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) May 29, 2019

After a stalemate first half, the game burst into life in the second half when former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock in the 49th minute.
Pedro sweeped home a Hazard cross in the 60th minute to give themselves a 2-0 lead. Hazard made it 3-0 from the penalty spot soon after.
Substitute Alex Iwobi gave Arsenal hope with a brilliant first-time strike. However, Hazard scored again, playing a one-two with Giroud, to put the game beyond doubt.
The Gunners, however, will be back in the Europa League again next season.

Top star says 'goodbye' after Chelsea run riot against Arsenal

Top star says 'goodbye' after Chelsea run riot against Arsenal – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Chelsea claimed the Europa League title with a dominant second-half display against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Eden Hazard weighed in with a couple of goals as the Blues ran out 4-1 winners. Olivier Giroud and Pedro were also on target, while Alex Iwobi grabbed Arsenal’s consolation.
Hazard was superb for Chelsea after the break in what is likely to be his final game for the club. The Belgian told reporters after the final that he thinks “it is goodbye”, with a move to Real Madrid expected to be confirmed this summer.
The result means a third consecutive season without Champions League football for Arsenal – their longest spell out of Europe’s top tournament since the 1990s.
The Gunners were the better side in the first-half, but fell apart after the break as Chelsea exposed their shaky defence.
Alexandre Lacazette had a penalty appeal turned down, while Granit Xhaka clipped the bar with a fine long-range effort.
Emerson Palmieri and Giroud had Chelsea’s best two chances, but Petr Cech saved well on each occasion.
Chelsea started the second-half on the front foot and deservedly took the lead as Giroud’s diving header flew past Cech.
It was his 11th of the Europa League campaign to make him the outright top scorer in the competition.
Chelsea doubled their lead on the hour through Pedro and quickly made it 3-0 as Hazard fired home from the penalty spot after Ainsley Maitland-Niles bundled Giroud over in the box.
Arsenal grabbed a glimmer of hope in the 69th minute as Alex Iwobi produced a stunning effort which gave Kepa no chance.
However, Chelsea were not to be denied as Hazard added a fourth just minutes later to complete a comfortable victory.
The playmaker attempted to evade questions about his future after the game, but his comments suggested he is on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
“We will decide in a few days and the only target in my mind tonight was to win this final,” he told BT Sport.
“I have made my decision already and now I’m waiting on both clubs. I think it is a goodbye, but in football you never know.
“My dream was to play in the Premier League and I have done that for one of the biggest clubs so maybe now it is the time for a new challenge.”

14 goals & 13 assists: Tottenham linked with versatile attacker, some of their fans react – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the PSV winger Steven Bergwijn this summer.
According to Voetbal International (via voetbal primeur), the Dutch side are preparing to receive an offer for the player from the Premier League club.
It will be interesting to see if the Londoners manage to agree on a deal for the highly rated winger.
Bergwijn has been one of the best players in Eredivisie for a while now and he could prove to be a superb addition to Tottenham’s attack.
The Dutchman will add pace and flair to Pochettino’s side.
The 21-year-old picked up 14 goals and 13 assists for PSV this past season and he would be an upgrade on the likes of Erik Lamela next season.
Bergwijn can play on either flank and his versatility will be an added bonus for Pochettino.
Some of the Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the player and his potential arrival.
Here are some of the reactions from earlier.

'Would be fantastic', 'Yes!' – Some Spurs fans are excited about their 25-yr-old target

'Would be fantastic', 'Yes!' – Some Spurs fans are excited about their 25-yr-old target – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham fans have shared their reactions to the links with PSG midfielder Julian Draxler.
Yesterday we covered claims that the Londoners are interested in the German.
The Spurs fans have now taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the player and his potential arrival.
Draxler hasn’t been a regular starter for PSG since joining them and he needs to leave them in order to kick-start his career.
The German was rated as a world-class talent a few years ago and if Pochettino can bring out the best in him, Spurs will have a quality player at their disposal.
Draxler needs to regain his form and confidence first. That can only be possible with regular playing time under a manager who trusts him.
A move to the Premier League might be beneficial for the 25-year-old’s career at this stage.
As for Spurs, they will have more quality and depth with his arrival. Draxler can play as the number ten as well as a wide player.
He will add creativity and flair to Pochettino’s midfield.
If Eriksen decides to leave this summer, Draxler could be an ideal long term replacement.

Player I think would be fantastic

Would love to see him in our midfield but it’s highly unlikely we’ll sign him

Tottenham working on a deal to sign highly rated attacker for £12m this summer

Tottenham working on a deal to sign highly rated attacker for £12m this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham are currently working on a £12m deal to sign the Leeds winger Jack Clarke.
The 18-year-old impressed in the Championship this past season and it seems that his performances have caught Mauricio Pochettino’s eye.
Clarke is very highly rated at Leeds and he has the potential to develop into a quality player.
Pochettino seems like the ideal coach to bring out the best in him.
It will be interesting to see if the Londoners can get the deal over the line now.
Spurs could definitely use some pace and trickery in their attack and Clarke would be a solid long term investment.
Mauricio Pochettino is set to be backed in the transfer market this summer and therefore a deal for Clarke should be possible.
Tottenham can offer him Premier League and Champions League football next season. Convincing the player should not be a problem for them.
As for Leeds, they might not want to lose him just yet. However, if a reasonable offer comes in and the player decides to force the move, the Championship club might just have to give in.
Here is how some of the Spurs fans reacted to the links with Clarke.

Pellegrini looking to bring in 13-goal midfielder, West Ham have been in touch – originally posted on Sportslens.com

West Ham have been in touch with the Porto winger Yacine Brahimi.
The Hammers are hoping to snap him up on a free transfer this summer according to A Bola (report translated by SportWitness).
Brahimi’s Porto contract is nearing its end and the two parties have not agreed on an extension yet.
It will be interesting to see if West Ham manage to convince him to join.
The Algerian could prove to be an interesting addition to Manuel Pellegrini’s side next season.
Brahimi will add flair and goals to the West Ham attack. He also has the experience to make an instant impact for the Hammers.
West Ham could certainly use someone like him to add more depth and quality to their wide areas.
They are dependent on Yarmolenko and Anderson for creativity and goals from out wide and Brahimi could share the burden with the West Ham duo.
The 29-year-old picked up 13 goals and 4 assists for Porto this past season.
As per the report, Brahimi is looking to join a competitive club and he wants a good financial package as well.
West Ham are not in Europe and therefore it could work against them. However, they have the resources to convince the player with a lucrative package.
It will be interesting to see where the winger ends up this summer.

13 goals this season: Everton in touch with experienced ace regarding summer move

13 goals this season: Everton in touch with experienced ace regarding summer move – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Everton are hoping to sign Yacine Brahimi on a free transfer this summer.
According to A Bola (translated by SportWitness), the Toffees have been in touch with the player and the 29-year-old is looking to join an ambitious club.
Brahimi is also keen on a good financial package and it will be interesting to see whether Everton manage to convince him.
The Algerian winger could prove to be a useful addition to Marco Silva’s side.
He will add goals and creativity to Everton’s attack. Brahimi will also share the goalscoring burden with Richarlison.
The Porto ace scored 13 goals this past season and he would be an upgrade on the likes of Walcott.
Everton need to improve their attacking options if they want to challenge the likes of Wolves for European football next season.
On a free transfer, Brahimi’s signing looks like a no brainer.
Everton certainly have the financial resources to convince the player and they should be doing everything to snap him up on a bargain deal.
Other European clubs like Real Betis and Marseille are keen on the player as well and therefore the Toffees will have to move quickly if they want to sign him.

Aston Villa set to open talks for in-form 26-yr-old who could cost around £15m

Aston Villa set to open talks for in-form 26-yr-old who could cost around £15m – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Aston Villa will look to sign Tyrone Mings on a permanent deal this summer.
According to The Telegraph, the newly promoted side are set to open talks with Bournemouth regarding the centre back.
Mings could cost around £15m if reports are to be believed.
The 26-year-old joined Aston Villa on loan this past season and he established himself as a key player for Dean Smith’s side.
Mings was imperious at the back for Aston Villa and they wouldn’t have secured promotion without his outstanding performances.
It will be interesting to see if they can agree on a fee for the player now.
£15m might be a bit expensive for them and Bournemouth might have to lower their asking price. However, there is no doubt that the centre back could justify that kind of an outlay.
Bournemouth are unlikely to give him first-team opportunities next season and therefore a permanent exit would be ideal for Mings.
He is well settled at Villa and the fans adore him. A return to Villa Park should be tempting for him.
It will be interesting to see where the defender ends up this summer.
