'I was an Arsenal fan' – Manchester Utd star reveals he supported Gunners growing up

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that he was a huge Arsenal fan while growing up.
The French World Cup winner admired the likes of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires – who were part of 1998 World Cup-winning squad – during their days at the North London club, modelling his game after the legendary striker before eventually becoming a midfielder.
“I was an Arsenal fan. Arsenal and the French national team. I really loved the 1999-2000 team,” Pogba told The Times’ new Life Times podcast.
“You know with Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, (Sylvain) Wiltord, Pires. I loved Thierry Henry. I was a really selfish player. At the time I was a striker, No9.
“Then I went back and back and finished in the middle. The pitch was hard, cement. You better not fall! Now my friends can’t believe that I pass the ball.”
Pogba has since established himself as one of the best midfielders on the planet, making the PFA Team of the Year last season after finishing the campaign with 13 league goals and nine assists.
It remains unknown if former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger – who missed out on some of the biggest stars in the game – ever desired to have the 26-year-old play for the Gunners, but it was Sir Alex Ferguson that brought him to England in 2009 from Le Havre.
Pogba linked up with United’s Academy, eventually making his debut two years later.
He left for Juventus in 2012, but returned four years later for a then world-record fee of £89 million.
The 2013 Golden Boy is currently being linked with a summer exit, with Juve and Real Madrid both keen on his signature.
It is believed that the Santiago Bernabeu outfit are favourites, as boss Zinedine Zidane, who Pogba has openly declared he would love to play for, is a huge fan of the midfielder.

Midfielder in contact with West Ham regarding summer move, Everton keen as well

Midfielder in contact with West Ham regarding summer move, Everton keen as well – originally posted on Sportslens.com

West Ham have been linked with a move for the Roma midfielder Maxime Gonalons.
The 30-year-old is available this summer and L’Equipe (translated by SportWitness) believe that the Hammers are in contact with him regarding a loan move.
Apparently, Everton are keen on the player as well.
Gonalons was on loan at Sevilla last season and he had an injury-plagued season. He will be looking to play more often next year.
He is not a first-team option at Roma anymore and a move would be ideal for him.
Whether West Ham manage to land him this summer remains to be seen. He could prove to be a decent option for the Premier League side.
They need a backup to Declan Rice and the former Lyon man could do a job.
Gonalons needs to regain his form and fitness first and a loan move would be best for all parties.
Roma are prepared to let him leave and therefore West Ham should be able to seal the transfer with ease if they are really interested.
However, the deal could get complicated if Gonalons seeks game time assurances.
West Ham cannot offer him regular first team football and a backup role might not be suitable for the player.

Aston Villa ready to bid for 26-yr-old, some fans react: 'Would be a great signing'

Aston Villa ready to bid for 26-yr-old, some fans react: 'Would be a great signing' – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Aston Villa are apparently keen on signing Jack Butland this summer.
As per the Sun, the newly promoted side are set to launch a £20m bid for the Stoke City star.
Dean Smith wants to sign a top-class keeper and Butland has a lot of experience at the Premier League level.
At one point, he was tipped to become the number one keeper for England.
If he manages to regain his form with Villa, it could prove to be a bargain in the long run.
A player of Butland’s calibre needs to play in the Premier League and a move to Aston Villa would be ideal for him.
It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can agree on a fee now.
Butland might not need convincing to join a Premier League club. However, Stoke City will not want to let go with ease.
As per the report from Sun, the Potters value the 26-year-old England keeper at £23million.
It will be interesting to see where Butland ends up this summer.
Some of the Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the links. Here are some of the reactions from earlier.

Feel sorry for Steer but gotta be ruthless in this league..

Would be a great move for both parties
— Liam Thursfield (@7541liam) June 10, 2019

We can’t be sentimental about this. Whilst I agree with you about Steer playing a major part, we can’t afford in the PL, to wait for him to make a mistake. We need a top class goalkeeper for our aims. Butland fits that & could be our goalie for the next 10 years. Hope we get him.

Grt stuff how about Ming’s he’s a must for me. #utv
— BobV3 (@BobVee3) June 11, 2019

Celtic looking to sign towering 25-yr-old who is available for just £1.75m – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Celtic are looking to sign Amir Rrahmani this summer.
According to the Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure, the 25-year-old defender is available for a fee of around £1.75million.
Celtic are in need of defensive reinforcements and Rrahmani would be a solid signing. The 6ft 4 in defender has done well with Dinamo Zagreb and he could make a big difference in the Scottish League.
Neil Lennon will have to improve his side in order to win more trophies next year and signings like Rrahmani would be ideal.
Apart from improving Celtic defensively, Rrahmani will add a set piece threat to the Celtic side as well.
It will be interesting to see if the Scottish Champions manage to get the deal over the line now. It could prove to be a massive bargain in future.
Rrahmani is only 25 and he has not reached his peak yet. He could be the mainstay of Celtic’s defence for the next few years.
The player might be tempted to join a big club like Celtic as well. They can offer him regular European football.
The likes of Amiens and Standard Liege are keen on the player as well and Celtic will have to move quickly if they really want to sign him.

Aston Villa looking to seal a bargain move for 26-yr-old Championship ace

Aston Villa looking to seal a bargain move for 26-yr-old Championship ace – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Aston Villa are looking to sign Yoann Barbet this summer.
As per Asist Analiz, the newly promoted side want to sign the defender on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old is out of contract and Wolves are keeping tabs on the player as well.
It will be interesting to see if Villa can agree on a deal with the player now. Barbet has done well in English football and he could prove to be a good option for Dean Smith.
Aston Villa are in need of defensive depth right now. They are apparently keen on Tyrone Mings as well.
Barbet has been in England for four years and he should be able to adapt to Aston Villa’s style quickly. He could make an immediate impact for them next year.
The towering defender plays as the left-sided centre back and he can fill in as a left back as well. Barbet is a good passer of the ball and he could be the ideal partner for Mings if Villa manage to sign him on a permanent basis from Bournemouth.
On a free transfer, this seems like a no brainer and Aston Villa should do everything in their power to make it happen.
The 6ft 2in defender might relish the chance to play in the Premier League as well and therefore it might not be too hard to convince him.

16 goals & 12 assists last season: Pundit claims 22-yr-old wants to join Tottenham

16 goals & 12 assists last season: Pundit claims 22-yr-old wants to join Tottenham – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Dutch football pundit Marcel van der Kraan has informed talkSPORT that Donny van de Beek is keen on a move to Tottenham or Manchester United this summer.
The Ajax midfielder has had an impressive season and it will be interesting to see if he is on the move.
Spurs could certainly use someone like van de Beek and Pochettino should look to sign him if he is available.
The 22-year-old central midfielder picked up 16 goals and 12 assists last season. He also helped Ajax make it to the semi-finals of the Champions League where they were knocked out by Spurs.
Pochettino will have seen the player up close during the games against Ajax this past season and he will know all about van de Beek’s strengths and weaknesses.
The Londoners need a reliable central midfielder who can add goals and assists to the side. Winks is good at controlling the tempo of the game but he is lacking in end product right now.
Van de Beek would be the ideal partner for him next season.
It will be interesting to see if the Londoners manage to agree on a deal with Ajax for the midfielder. They will not want to sell for the cheap and Levy must be prepared to pay a premium.

West Ham submit offer for 23-yr-old, some fans react: 'Absolutely outrageously good' – originally posted on Sportslens.com

West Ham are looking to sign the La Liga midfielder Pablo Fornals this summer.
According to an interview on CalcioNapoli24 (translated by SportWitness), the Hammers have submitted a €27m offer for the player.
Journalist Marcello Calvano claims that the two clubs will begin negotiations now.
The 23-year-old Villarreal midfielder has done well in Spain and he could prove to be a quality addition to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
The Hammers are in need of a creative midfielder after the departure of Samir Nasri.
Fornals is an attacking midfielder who plays centrally. The 23-year-old can play in the wide positions as well. His excellent dribbling ability allows him to operate out wide.
The Spaniard is a very good passer in the final third as well. He will help create more chances for the likes of Arnautovic next season.
It will be interesting to see if the Hammers can get the deal over the line now. They certainly have the finances to pull it off.
Some of the West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the links. Here are the reactions from earlier.

A lot of people saying he’s absolutely quality and for €26m, it would be one of the signings of the summer.

'Looks like a shirt sales singing' – Some Spurs fans react to links with 29-yr-old

'Looks like a shirt sales singing' – Some Spurs fans react to links with 29-yr-old – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham are interested in signing the Marseille defender Hiroki Sakai this summer.
According to Sky Sports, Pochettino wants to improve his full-back options and the 29-year-old is a target.
However, the report adds that Spurs would prefer a younger player.
It will be interesting to see if they make a move for Sakai anytime soon. The 29-year-old is at the peak of his powers right now and he could prove to be a solid short term addition for the Londoners.
Sakai would improve them immediately and he would be an upgrade on Trippier.
The English right-back has had a poor season and the Londoners should look to get rid of him this summer.
Spurs need to be ruthless in the market in order to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City.
Sakai is defensively better than Trippier and he will help going forward as well. Although, Trippier is a better crosser.
The Marseille ace picked up 5 assists from his right back position last year.
Here is how some of the Tottenham fans have reacted to the reports earlier.

We need a younger player to stay on our team longer.

Andy Halliday tells Rangers to "announce" 22-year-old Premier League ace

Andy Halliday tells Rangers to "announce" 22-year-old Premier League ace – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Liverpool winger Ryan Kent impressed during his season-long loan at Rangers last term, scoring six goals and registering nine assists for Steven Gerrard’s side to emerge as the Scottish Premiership PFA Young Player of the Year.
The 22-year-old has returned to Anfield, but the Ibrox manager wants him back on another loan spell, and it appears a lot of the fans and players do too.
Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday is also keen for Kent to return, and he has made his wishes known in a reply to the club’s latest post on Instagram, commenting “announce Kent”.

While Gerrard believes securing the services of the Premier League ace on loan once again is possible given his relationship with player and Liverpool, the Light Blues face a huge battle for his signature, with Leeds United and Aston Villa keen on a permanent move for the £12 million-rated winger.
The chance to play in the English top-flight or even at Elland Road could be too tempting for Kent to turn down, and the Reds might also be more interested in cashing in on their Academy graduate than loaning him to Rangers again.

'Rate this lad highly', 'Special' – Some Aston Villa fans react to links with versatile midfielder

'Rate this lad highly', 'Special' – Some Aston Villa fans react to links with versatile midfielder – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Tom Bayliss this summer.
As per the Sun’s print edition (via HITC), the versatile midfielder is a target for Dean Smith’s side.
Bayliss has caught the attention with his performances for Coventry and it will be interesting to see if Villa manage to agree on a deal for him.
The 20-year-old can play as a central midfielder or as a wide player. His versatility would be a bonus for any team he joins.
Although, he is not ready to make an impact for Aston Villa’s first team just yet. He will need a lot more experience and development to start in the Premier League.
Bayliss is one for the future and he might get his chance in the cup games next year if he manages to impress for the youth team and in training.
The Coventry midfielder is quite highly rated and he could develop into a quality player with the right guidance.
Villa have done well to develop the likes of Grealish and Bayliss will be hoping to follow the same route to the first team.
Some of the Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the potential signing. Here are some of the reactions from earlier.

James Maddison, Callum Wilson they’ve all come through Cov ranks. I rate this lad highly, great prospect!
— Ben Broadhurst (@bennybale) June 9, 2019
