Opinion: Tottenham or Leicester could sign £40k-per-week man before transfer window shuts

Opinion: Tottenham or Leicester could sign £40k-per-week man before transfer window shuts – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham have been on the hunt for a long-term replacement for Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld whose contracts expire in 2020. One player the Lilywhites could be considering to offset the potential loss is Nathan Ake – a centre-back Tottenham have been linked with this summer.
Leicester City look set to lose Harry Maguire to Manchester United before the transfer window shuts and have been tipped to sign Ake in his stead. The 24-year-old is highly-rated and has made 91 appearances in all competitions since joining Bournemouth from Chelsea in 2017.
Ake has made 10 appearances for the Netherlands national team and could be destined for a big-money move in the future given Manchester City are among the clubs that have been linked with his signature. The £40k-per-week man would improve the squads at both Tottenham and Leicester, but he won’t come cheap.
Ake would certainly improve Tottenham and Leicester’s squad, but Bournemouth may not accept a bid lower than £40m this summer. For a player that boasts 88 aerial duels won (55%), 230 clearances, 62 blocked passes/crosses/shots and averages a tackle (66) or interception (32) every 35 minutes, he may be worth the money.
If Leicester sell Maguire for a reported £80m, they will be able to meet Ake’s asking price. Tottenham were linked with a £27.3m deal for William Saliba before Arsenal signed him, so there are funds available for the right centre-back.

'Great signing', 'Love this' – Some Villa fans react as the club agrees fee for £42k-a-wk target

'Great signing', 'Love this' – Some Villa fans react as the club agrees fee for £42k-a-wk target – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Aston Villa have agreed on a deal to sign the Burnley keeper Tom Heaton this summer.
According to The Telegraph, the Premier League side will pay around £8m plus add ons for the 33-year-old.
Heaton was one of the best keepers in the country before his injury and if he manages to recapture that form, he could be an asset for Villa.
Dean Smith wanted to bring in an experienced shot-stopper this summer and Heaton should be his number one keeper next season.
Jed Steer is clearly talented but he is too young to start in the Premier League every week.
It will be interesting to see how Heaton performs at Villa now. He lost his regular starting berth to Nick Pope at Burnley first and then Joe Hart came in.
Heaton will want to get back to his best with regular game time at Aston Villa. He managed to force his way into the England setup before his injury and the £42k-a-week Burnley keeper will be hoping to do that once again with his new club now.
Here is how some of the Aston Villa fans have reacted to the news earlier.

Quality keeper. He’ll do us for the next few years while we establish ourselves in the Premier League. Happy days. 🦁🦁🦁
— Trevor Adams 🦁 (@TJAdams1976) July 31, 2019

Thank God. The thought of going into the season with Kalinic as no 2 was scary. Steer will be a very good, capable no 2 who will push Heaton all the way

Best GK signing we could have made IMO. Experienced ✔️ leadership ✔️ quality ✔️ in his prime ✔️ fairly cheap ✔️ significant upgrade on what we have ✔️
As solid a signing as we could have made really. #avfc

Quality keeper proven premiership player

Anyone moaning about age is deluded. 33 is nothing for a GK. Easily got 4/5 years in him. Solid GK. Prem experience. Commanding. Great signing.

Report: Bruce wants to sign 21y/o that can play anywhere in midfield & defence

Report: Bruce wants to sign 21y/o that can play anywhere in midfield & defence – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to Sportsmail, Newcastle United are interested in bringing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe to Saint James’ Park on a season-long loan this summer.
However, the Magpies must hope Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire secures a move to Old Trafford, as that is the only way they will have a chance.
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce wants to reunite with the 21-year-old after bringing him to Aston Villa on loan, and he reckons he will be a good fit for his system as he looks to play a three-man backline.
Tuanzebe can feature at right-back and centre-back, while he can also play in the middle of the park.
His versatility was one of the things that attracted Bruce to him during his days at Villa Park.
“He’s got all the ingredients of a modern day player – he’s quick, strong and powerful,” the Newcastle head coach told Aston Villa’s official website at the time.
“He can play anywhere in midfield and anywhere at the back.
The Magpies could do with such an utility player, but it remains to be seen if Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be willing to let Tuanzebe leave given his need for defensive depth this season.
Snapping the youngster up will be a massive boost for Newcastle’s safety and survival ambitions, and he definitely brings a lot of quality to the table.
If they can get the deal over the line remains to be seen, though, with other suitors definitely bound to join the race once he’s made available.

Opinion: Leeds and Rangers should consider £5m move for £30k-per-week man

Opinion: Leeds and Rangers should consider £5m move for £30k-per-week man – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Leeds United could be on the hunt for a central midfielder this summer with Kalvin Phillips having an uncertain future amid interest from Aston Villa. Jamie Shackleton and Adam Forshaw may not be regulars in 2019/20 after failing to command a starting place last season, so the Whites should consider a move for Besic.
Marcelo Bielsa loaned out a number of midfielders last season – Vurnon Anita (Willem II), Ouasim Bouy (PEC Zwolle), Lewis Baker (Reading), Yosuke Ideguchi (Greuther Fürth), Eunan O’Kane (Luton Town), Oriol Rey (UB Conquense), Mateusz Bogusz (Ruch Chorzow)  – so Leeds have a lot of deadwood.
Besic would be an improvement on the seven players and wouldn’t break the bank at £5m either. The £30k-per-week midfielder is surplus to requirements at Everton and is struggling to find himself a new club this summer. Leeds could certainly benefit from signing Besic, and Rangers should be considering a move for him too.
Despite signing Steven Davis and Joe Aribo this summer, the Gers have a need for another addition to their engine room. Lassana Coulibaly and Ross McCrorie struggled for playing time in 2018/19 while Andy Halliday’s appearances were sporadic.
Besic is a decent ball-winner who provides a box-to-box threat and seldom relinquishes possession cheaply. He would improve both Leeds and Rangers’ squad, so the pair should be asking Everton about his availability this summer.

Reliable journalist confirms Everton have made contact to sign 25-yr-old target – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Everton are interested in signing the Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina this summer.
According to Dominic King from Daily Mail, the Toffees have made contact for the player.
It will be interesting to see if they can pull off the transfer in the remaining days of the window.
Lemina has been linked with a move away from St Mary’s and a move to Everton would be good for him.
The 25-year-old will add flair, agility and drive to Silva’s midfield. Currently, Everton do not have anyone like him in their midfield.
Lemina will add great balance to the side alongside Gomes and Delph/Gbamin (If he joins).
The player has already proven himself in the Premier League and he should be able to adapt to Silva’s style with ease.
Lemina could make an immediate impact at Everton next season. They need a presence like him in their midfield.
Silva has improved his attack with the potential signing of Moise Kean and he needs to work on his midfield now. Lemina’s addition will certainly take them to another level.
It will be interesting to see if they can secure an agreement with Southampton in the coming days now.

Everton are keen to sign Mario Lemina and have made contact with Southampton but a deal is not close.
Things are moving in the right direction with Moise Kean but weekend looks likely for completion of deal.
Nathan Broadhead is getting a new deal and will then be loaned out 🔵

Report claims 25-yr-old could join Aston Villa in the next few days – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Marvelous Nakamba is all set to join Aston Villa in the next few days.
According to The Telegraph, the 25-year-old will finalise an £11m move subject to visa and a medical.
Nakamba will add depth and quality to the Aston Villa midfield.
Dean Smith needed to add more quality to his midfield in order to cope with the challenges of the Premier League. It will be interesting to see how Nakamba performs next season.
He might need some time to adapt to a new league but he has the tools to succeed in English football.
The player was determined to get his move to Aston Villa and he will be delighted when it is finalised.
Nakamba forced Club Brugge to sell him by going on a strike earlier this summer.
He has the technical ability and the physique to thrive in the intensity of the Premier League and he could prove to be a real bargain for Smith next season.
Aston Villa have been very active in the transfer market all summer and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the Premier League now.
Fulham failed after a similar window last year after the new players struggled to adapt to the league quickly.

Report: Celtic eyeing up summer move for 29-year-old Rangers target

Report: Celtic eyeing up summer move for 29-year-old Rangers target – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Celtic are thought to be keen on the former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.
According to a report from Fanatik (translated by Sportwitness), Rangers and Trabzonspor are keen on the player as well.
Sturridge is a free agent right now and he would be a sensational addition to Neil Lennon’s side.
Despite his regression, he is still good enough to be the best striker in the Scottish League. On a free transfer, it would be a no-brainer for the Hoops.
They should look to do everything they can to sign him this summer.
However, his wages could be a problem for Celtic. Sturridge was a high earner at Liverpool and he will have to accept modest wages in order for the move to happen.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.
Celtic certainly have more financial muscle than Rangers. However, they might not be able to compete with the finances of other European clubs.
Sturridge has proven himself for club and country in the past and he should be a good addition to any team he joins this summer.
The 29-year-old won the Champions League with Liverpool last season.

Pellegrini has just come up with a bargain target who could be a masterstroke signing

Pellegrini has just come up with a bargain target who could be a masterstroke signing – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to reports from the Daily Mail, West Ham are considering making a move for Chuba Akpom this summer.
The 23-year-old forward joined PAOK last summer from Arsenal after failing to nail down his place in the senior team. He spent over a decade on Arsenal’s books, and enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Coventry, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Brighton.
He made only 12 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions before securing a transfer to Greece.
However, the move has turned out to be a blessing for him as the forward enjoyed a fantastic campaign, scoring eight goals and providing five assists to help the club win the league title.
West Ham have already dished out a big-money fee to sign a striker in Sebastien Haller, but Manuel Pellegrini is still looking to bolster the attacking department.
Akpom could soon make a return to England with the Mail reporting that West Ham scouts watched him play a pre-season friendly against Fortuna Sittard, where he scored four goals for the club.
Needless to say, the Hammers scouts were heavily impressed with what they saw, and now the London club are considering making a move for him.
He is valued at around £5 million, which is quite a bargain in today’s market. He seems to be enjoying his football, and is playing with loads of confidence at the moment.
At this price, Akpom is worth the gamble, and the deal could prove to be a masterstroke from West Ham if they manage to get him before the window ends.

The report adds that Everton will pay around €30m for the player. The player is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Blues.
The 23-year-old midfielder’s camp are confident of getting the deal done as well.

Everton are closing in on a deal for Moise Kean as well.
The Toffees have been very active in the market all summer and they have strengthened the squad significantly.
It will be interesting to see how these players settle in next season. Gbamin has the tools to succeed in English football and the Bundesliga is not too different from the Premier League apart from the intensity.

Report claims Tottenham have shown interest in signing 24-yr-old South American

Report claims Tottenham have shown interest in signing 24-yr-old South American – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham are interested in signing the Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa this summer.
According to Calciomercato, the Londoners have shown interest in the player.
Correa is no longer a key starter for Simeone and a move away from Atletico would be ideal for him. At this stage of his career, he needs to play more often.
The Spanish club have Morata, Costa and Joao Felix at their disposal right now and they won’t be able to offer Correa enough game time.
Tottenham could certainly use a versatile forward like him and the move to the Premier League would be ideal for him.
Correa can play anywhere across the front three and he would be a great option to have for Pochettino.
He will add pace, flair and goals to the side. The 24-year-old Argentine could grow as a footballer under the guidance of Pochettino as well.
The move makes sense for all parties and it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming days.
Spurs have been linked with Lo Celso, Malcom and Sessegnon as well. It will be interesting to see who they end up with eventually.
Valencia and AC Milan have been linked with a move for Angel Correa as well.
