Rangers will sign the Swedish defender Filip Helander this summer.
According to Daily Record, the Ibrox outfit will pay around £3.5m for the 26-year-old.
Bologna’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon has confirmed to Record that the transfer should be concluded very soon.
He said: “Yes, we are talking right now about this possible transfer. I can’t tell you any more than that because the discussions are not yet complete. But we hope to have an agreement very soon.”
Steven Gerrard wants to improve his defence before the start of the season and Helander should prove to be a quality addition to the side.
Rangers need to improve their back four if they want to close the gap with Celtic next season.
The Swedish defender should be able to adapt to the Scottish League with ease. He could make a big difference at the back for Rangers next season.
It will be interesting to see if he partners Goldson at the heart of Rangers’ defence.
Helander has the physique and quality to thrive in Scotland and he will be looking to make an immediate impact once the move goes through.
The 26-year-old is not a key player for Bologna anymore and a move away makes sense for him. He will be desperate to showcase his quality with Rangers now.

Journalist confirms Aston Villa are looking to bring in 28-goal star this summer

Journalist confirms Aston Villa are looking to bring in 28-goal star this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Aston Villa are interested in signing the Brentford striker Neal Maupay this summer.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the newly-promoted side haven’t given up on the Bees forward just yet.
Dean Smith wants to improve his attacking options and Maupay would be a solid addition.
The 22-year-old had a fantastic season with Brentford last season and he managed to score 28-goals for them.
He could be the ideal partner for Wesley Moraes next season. Villa will need to good attack to breach the Premier League defences next season and Maupay is a proven goalscorer.
It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can agree on a fee for the player now.
Brentford will not want to sell their key star for cheap and Dean Smith will have to break the bank for his services.
However, if the player decides to force a move, it could be an advantage for Aston Villa.
Maupay might be keen on Premier League football and Aston Villa’s interest could be lucrative for him.
Aston Villa have improved their defence significantly this summer with the signings of Targett, Hause, Mings and Konsa.
They can complete their attack by signing Neal Maupay now.

'This is horrific', 'Depressing'- Some Newcastle fans can't believe what club chief has done – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley met with Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce on Wednesday night to discuss appointing the 58-year-old as Rafa Benitez’s successor at Saint James’ Park, according to The Sun.
The club want to wrap up a deal for the former Sunderland boss before Saturday, and a lot of Newcastle fans are disappointed with Charnley for opting for Bruce.
The Magpies chief recently just returned to England after spending time in Europe talking with a host of agents and contacts, with the club looking for a manager and players.
Newcastle have seemingly settled for the former Aston Villa boss, and here is how some fans reacted to the decision on Twitter:

This is horrific.
— Jacko (@ActionNUFC) July 11, 2019

This is just utterly depressing
— Craig Deacon (@craig_deacon) July 11, 2019

Just shows how out of touch @nufc are if they think Steve Bruce can replace Rafa 😢
— Sandra Farn (@hockeymom41) July 11, 2019

Charnley and Ashley must be the ONLY ones that actually want Bruce as a manager – shame
— Nicola Cookson (@nicola_cookson) July 11, 2019

Depressing
— Joe Halliday (@halliday_9) July 11, 2019

Dont blame Steve bruce one bit for taking the job. Last chance he’ll get to manage the club he loves. Hopefully the anger doesn’t get directed at him as while hes out of his depth this is ashley and charnley fault and no one elses
— Dash (@Dash111_) July 11, 2019

I for one think Lee Charnley should be applauded for his forward thinking.By hiring Steve Bruce, retaining the services of Colback, Gayle, Aarons etc, we wont need to invest heavily I’m the championship next year, or look for a new manager #NUFC #AshleyOut
— Thomas (@TomItsnot) July 11, 2019

Remember guys and girls, that the two times that Lee Charnley has been put in charge of hiring a manager – he has come up with Steve McClaren and Steve Bruce – Inept!!! #NUFC
— Ian (@ISTB87) July 11, 2019

Actually paying to insert Steve Bruce as manager?Genuinely Ashley are Charnley are having a complete laugh. They’re an absolute liability and year after year their craic gets worse.I’m absolutely raging.
— Luke (@GeordieRacer) July 11, 2019

You’re trying to tell me Lee Charnley spent two weeks in Europe “scouting a manager” to come out with the candidates: Big Sam and Steve Bruce. Nothing ever ceases to amaze me about this football club. #nufc https://t.co/xL05evjl8h
— Harry (@harryr0y) July 11, 2019

Winning the SJP faithful over will be herculean for Bruce, especially given his former affiliation with the Black Cats, and it is safe to say owner Mike Ashley’s managerial decision has further irked the fans.
Newcastle’s pre-season kicks off with the Premier League Asia Trophy next Wednesday when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the winner of the clash will face the winners between Manchester City and West Ham United three days later.
Perhaps, doing the impossible and winning the tournament could be a way for Bruce to extend the olive branch to the angry fans.

Report: Newcastle keen on signing 26-year-old Juventus player this summer

Report: Newcastle keen on signing 26-year-old Juventus player this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Newcastle are thought to be interested in signing the Juventus keeper Mattia Perin.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (translated by Sportwitness), the 26-year-old is looking to play regularly and he could move this summer.
The report adds that Newcastle could be an option for him.
It will be interesting to see if the Magpies submit an offer for the player in the coming weeks.
Newcastle already have Dubravka at their disposal and a move for Perin would make very little sense. It would be illogical for the player as well. He won’t be a regular starter for Newcastle either.
Having said that, a move away from Juventus would probably be ideal for the player. With Buffon back at the club now, Perin could be the third choice keeper for the Italian champions.
At this stage of his career, he needs to play week in week out and Juventus simply cannot provide him with that opportunity.
Unless Newcastle can provide him with such assurances, a move to St James’ Park can be ruled out as well.
Newcastle are better off strengthening the other areas of their squad this summer. They are extremely light in attack and the new manager will have quite a challenge on his hands.

Report confirms West Ham's offer for highly rated 14-goal attacker

Report confirms West Ham's offer for highly rated 14-goal attacker – originally posted on Sportslens.com

West Ham have been linked with a move for the talented young forward Alexis Claude-Maurice this summer.
According to a report from Le Télégramme (translated by Sportwitness), West Ham submitted a €15m offer for the player.
The report adds that Lorient were satisfied with the offer but the player is keen on joining a club where he can get regular first-team football.
At West Ham, regular first-team football might not be possible for him just yet. The likes of Anderson and Yarmolenko are the first picks for the wide roles and the Hammers are looking to bring in a striker.
It will be interesting to see where Claude-Maurice ends up this summer. He is a prodigious young talent and he could prove to be a solid investment for the future.
Manuel Pellegrini could do with a player of his calibre but a transfer seems unlikely right now.
The youngster has been linked with a move to Borussia Mönchengladbach as well but the German club are yet to submit an acceptable offer to Lorient.
Claude-Maurice can play as a wide forward or as a second striker. He managed to score 14 goals for Lorient last season.

Report: Celtic make approach for 23-yr-old who is likely to cost in excess of €8m

Report: Celtic make approach for 23-yr-old who is likely to cost in excess of €8m – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Celtic are interested in signing the Rennes midfielder James Léa Siliki this summer.
According to a report from RMC Sport (translated by GFFN), the Scottish champions have made an approach for the player.
The 23-year-old has done well in Ligue 1 and he could prove to be a quality addition to Neil Lennon’s side.
However, Siliki isn’t likely to come for cheap. Porto tried to sign the player for €8m and the offer was rejected. Celtic will have to come up with a better offer if they want to sign him.
Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham has been linked with an exit from the club and if he decides to move on, the Hoops might have the cash to bring in Siliki this summer.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.
Lennon clearly wants to improve his midfield options but he wouldn’t want to do that at the expense of a key player like Ntcham.
Celtic tried to sign Turnbull earlier this summer but the move collapsed due to financial demands and medical problems.
It will be interesting to see if they can pull off James Léa Siliki’s signing now.

Report: Leeds keen on 24-year-old striker who could be available on a bargain

Report: Leeds keen on 24-year-old striker who could be available on a bargain – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Leeds United are interested in signing the Fenerbahce forward Michael Frey this summer.
According to a report from Fotomac (translated by Sportwitness), the player wants to move to England as well.
The 24-year-old has failed to impress at Fenerbahce and he is expected to leave the club in the coming weeks.
It will be interesting to see if Leeds manage to sign him now.
Frey signed for Fenerbahce for a fee of around €2.5m last summer but the striker has scored just 5 goals for his new club.
He needs a fresh start and Leeds could help him rediscover his form next season.
It remains to be seen whether the Whites are willing to pay up for him this summer. Frey is hardly a key player for Fenerbahce and the Turkish side are unlikely to demand a premium.
Marcelo Bielsa should look to get the player signed if he truly believes in his potential.
The Swiss forward could make a big difference for Leeds if he manages to rediscover his form and confidence. Leeds were a good striker away from promotion last season and they will want to go all the way this time.

Report confirms Tottenham are in talks to sign £45m Liverpool target

Report confirms Tottenham are in talks to sign £45m Liverpool target – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham are looking to sign the Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos this summer.
According to a report from Marca (translated by Sky Sports), the Londoners have opened talks to sign the Real Madrid player.
Apparently, Ceballos could leave the Spanish giants on a loan deal this summer. He is not keen on a permanent exit right now. It seems that the 22-year-old fancies his chances of making it in La Liga.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs manage to get the deal over the line. Getting a future buy option would be ideal for them as well.
Ceballos has been a squad player at Real Madrid since joining them and he needs regular first-team football. If Spurs can provide him with those assurances, a transfer shouldn’t be too complicated.
The report adds that Liverpool want to sign the player as well and they are preparing a £45m bid for the central midfielder.
Both Premier League clubs could use a central midfielder like Ceballos and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
The Spanish U21 star impressed during this summer’s Euros and he could prove to be a quality addition to Spurs or Liverpool’s midfield for sure.

Report: European giants launch £27m bid for Everton star who already submitted transfer request

Report: European giants launch £27m bid for Everton star who already submitted transfer request – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to L’Équipe (via GFFN), French giants Paris Saint-Germain have tabled a new £27 million bid for Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye after their attempts to secure his signature in January fell through.
Both teams are expected to re-open talks in the coming days as they were only paused after the winter transfer window shut.
The Senegalese international central midfielder wants to leave Goodison Park, and did hand in a transfer request in January.
However, manager Marco Silva wasn’t keen to lose such a key player during the middle of the campaign.
Gueye, 29, has established himself as a key player for Everton since arriving from Aston Villa, and the Toffees could be keen to cash in on him.
As reported by Sky Sports, PSG tabled £21.5million and £26.2million bids which the Goodison Park outfit knocked back, and the midfield powerhouse also pushed for an exit by submitting a transfer request.

'Good news', 'Great Move'- Some Hammers love club's decision following Arnautovic's exit

'Good news', 'Great Move'- Some Hammers love club's decision following Arnautovic's exit – originally posted on Sportslens.com

West Ham United have announced that Ukraine international Andriy Yarmolenko has taken the number 7 shirt upon Marko Arnautovic’s departure.
The 29-year-old was handed the number 20 shirt upon his arrival from Borussia Dortmund last summer, but will now wear his favourite and international number for the Hammers henceforth after the Austrian left for China earlier this week.
West Ham fans on Twitter are delighted with the announcement, and here is how some of them reacted to it:

This is a great move! @Yarmolenko_9 is on for a big season with the 7️⃣ shirt!
— James O’Halloran ⚒ (@GingerJamesOH) July 10, 2019

— Majestic🔰 (@FPL_Majestic) July 10, 2019

okay now this is epic
— ankkah (@real_bonerpizza) July 10, 2019

OH MY GOD 😍
— West Ham Transfers (@westhamtransfer) July 10, 2019

Yarmolenko was only able to feature in 10 games for the London Stadium outfit last term as a tear to his Achilles in October ruled him out for six months and the rest of 2018-19.
His only two league goals of the season handed West Ham their first victory of the campaign – a 3-1 victory against Everton in September – and manager Manuel Pellegrini will hope he will be lucky enough to remain fully fit next season.
The former Dynamo Kyiv winger surely can help fire the Hammers to Europe given his huge talents, and his versatility – as he can also lead the attack – could come handy.
Yarmolenko is West Ham’s new number 7, and as some fans rightly pointed out, he looks like a new signing.
