Opinion: Celtic will strike gold if Lennon can sign PL winner after latest reports

Opinion: Celtic will strike gold if Lennon can sign PL winner after latest reports – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has made it clear that he needs to sign a right-back in the summer transfer window.
“Right-back is a priority, but we have a number of positions I’d like to strengthen like midfield and one or two attacking areas,” said the Bhoys boss.
According to reports from Israel, Celtic have already agreed a deal for Hatem Abd Elhamed. While the 28-year-old centre-back can operate as a right-back, the Hoops need someone who is of proven quality.
With that in mind, the Scottish champions are planning to sign Danny Simpson who is now a free agent following his exit from Leicester City.
According to reports from The Scottish Sun, Lennon will join Celtic for a training stint next week, and in the process will get a chance to earn a deal with the Scottish champions.
Simpson, the Premier League title winner with Leicester City, is a quality player. He has vast Premier League and Championship experience, and at 32, he has plenty of football left in him.
Furthermore, Celtic will sign him on free which makes it a risk-free business. However, given Simpson’s quality and experience, there is absolutely no reason why he can’t be a success at Parkhead.
The deal will suit all parties involved and it could represent another smart piece of transfer business from Celtic.

Massive boost for Spurs as in-demand target tells club he wants to leave

Massive boost for Spurs as in-demand target tells club he wants to leave – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this summer.
Betis signed Lo Celso on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and later made the move permanent after he scored 16 goals from the attacking midfield role.
Spurs have had a £62million bid rejected already for the in-demand playmaker, but the north London club haven’t given up on signing him this summer.
The Argentine midfielder is keen to work with fellow compatriot Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs and has reportedly told the La Liga club that he wants to leave in order to play Champions League football.
The report claims that there’s a verbal agreement to let Lo Celso go for €75million this summer, and this should come as a massive boost for Spurs.
The 23-year-old is a highly-rated attacking midfielder who could add another dimension to Pochettino’s attacking system with his creativity and goal-scoring ability.
Spurs have spent big money on Tanguy Ndombele and in order to sign Lo Celso, they need to first sell some of their players to raise the fund.
Lo Celso has an £88 million release clause in his contract but there are suggestions that Spurs could get him at a reduced price.

Report: Celtic agree deal for 28-year-old int'l, player shares same agent with Bhoys star

Report: Celtic agree deal for 28-year-old int'l, player shares same agent with Bhoys star – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are all set to secure their fourth signing of the summer after the Bhoys have reached an agreement to sign Israeli defender Hatem Abd Elhamed.
The 28-year-old centre-back has played once for his country, coming on as a substitute against Poland in the Euro 2020 qualifier recently.
The Scottish Sun reported earlier this month that Neil Lennon was weighing up a move for the defender.
And now Sports Rabbi in Israel are reporting that the Bhoys have agreed a £2million agreement with Hapoel Be’er Sheva – with a further £300,000 in add-ons – for the centre-back who can also play as a right back.
Celtic are desperately looking to bolster their defensive unit this summer, and Hatem Abd Elhamed looks like a shrewd piece of business from the Hoops.
Elhamed will join fellow compatriot Nir Bitton at Parkhead who shares the same agent with the defender.
Meanwhile, Celtic have progressed to the second qualifying round of the Champions League after beating Sarajevo 5-2 on aggregate.
The defender has previously played for Ashdod, Dinamo Bucharest and Gent. He had signed a five-year deal when he moved to Be’er Sheva in 2017 but it looks like he is on his way to Celtic Park this summer.

Report claims versatile target could be on his way to Spurs after his holiday

Report claims versatile target could be on his way to Spurs after his holiday – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Ryan Sessegnon for a while now.
According to Football London, the Premier League side are still interested in signing the versatile Fulham star this summer.
The report adds that Sessegnon could be on his way to Spurs once he returns from his holiday.
The Fulham player can play as a left-winger or a left-back. His versatility will be an added bonus for Pochettino next season.
With Danny Rose’s future at the club uncertain, Sessegnon would be the ideal signing.
If Rose leaves the club, he could replace the Spurs ace next season. If not, Sessegnon can always play in a more advanced position.
Tottenham do not have a specialist left-winger and Sessegnon could fill that void.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.
Tottenham have been very active in the market this summer and it would be no surprise to see them bring in more players.
Pochettino needs to improve his attack and the full-back areas. Sessegnon’s arrival would make a lot of sense.
The player will be keen to play in the Premier League and therefore Fulham will struggle to hold on to him. They should look to get as much as they can for his services and let him go.

West Ham United have completed the signing of French striker Sebastien Haller from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Hammers paid £45 million for the 25-year-old, making him their new club record signing after he eclipsed the £36 million they paid Lazio for Felipe Anderson’s signature last summer.
West Ham co-owner David Gold took to Twitter to make the announcement to the delight of fans:

I am delighted to announce the arrival of French striker Sebastien Haller, the Club’s new record signing. The highly sought-after forward, who turned 25 in June, joins the Hammers on a five-year deal with an option of a further 12 months for an undisclosed fee. dg pic.twitter.com/ghPWTJkzYl

Haller scored 19 goals in 39 games across all competitions in the Bundesliga last term, and manager Manuel Pellegrini will hope he can lead the side to Europe.
West Ham will fancy their chances of finishing as the rest of the best next season after ending last season in 10th place.
The club have now broken their transfer record for a third time in a little over a year, and the board have definitely done an impressive job in that regard.
The onus is now on Pellegrini and the players to deliver, while the fans are also expected to offer their unwavering support for the team home and away going forward.
As expected, a lot of them are pleased with Haller’s signing, and here is how some of them reacted to Gold’s announcement on Twitter:

'Good player' – Everton could submit £13.5m offer for attacker, some fans react

'Good player' – Everton could submit £13.5m offer for attacker, some fans react – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Everton have been linked with a move for the Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic.
According to a report from Tuttojuve (translated by Sportwitness), the Toffees could make an offer of around €15m (£13.5m) for the player this summer.
The 33-year-old is no longer a key starter for the Italian giants and a move would be ideal for him.
Despite his age, the Croatian could be a handy signing for Marco Silva’s side. However, the transfer would go against Everton’s policy of investing in talented young players.
Ever since Marcel Brands has come in, the Merseyside outfit have invested in players with potential and resale value.
Mandzukic is nearly past his peak and he could make a difference for one or two seasons at most.
Having said that, Everton could use his experience in the short term. He could be a great mentor for Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison.
Mandzukic’s playing style will help him adapt to English football as well.
It will be interesting to see if Everton make their move for him in the coming weeks. Juventus might look to move him on for the right price.
Here is how some of the Everton fans have reacted to the news.

I know he’s getting on, but he’s still better than Tosun and Niasse combined, so yes.
— Ryan 🐝 (@Ryan_EFC1878) July 16, 2019

Good player but old
— Michael Short (@Michael89770191) July 16, 2019

he offers about as much as Tosun, good player but doesnt fit the system.
— Ingi Eyjolfz (@Eyjolfz) July 16, 2019

I don’t think we can afford to be to picky re a striker, its either young and unproven or experienced and expensive, we can’t attract the top strikers so have to settle at either end of the scale, I’d prefer Moisie Kean but Mandzukic might just offer up a season of delight!?
— Andy Yates (@mrandyyates) July 16, 2019

Several clubs, tbf. Bayern M, Atlético M, Juve. Would be good teacher for DCL.

Report: Tottenham confident of signing £40m midfielder, player willing to join

Report: Tottenham confident of signing £40m midfielder, player willing to join – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to reports from The Mirror, Tottenham are confident of signing the highly-rated Roma attacking midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported for a while that Spurs have been looking for a £40m package deal which would see Toby Alderweireld head in the opposite direction.
The world-class Belgian central defender has a £25million release clause which can be activated up to two weeks before the end of the transfer window in England.
Roma are keen to sign Aldereireld but they cannot meet his release clause. So, Spurs are looking to engineer a cash-plus-Alderweireld deal for the Roma playmaker.
Zaniolo enjoyed a fantastic 2018-19 campaign at Roma where he scored six goals in Serie A. He is a top-class talent and could develop into a star under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino.
The 20-year-old is looking for a pay rise, and Zaniolo has reportedly told Spurs he’s willing to join.
Spurs could lose Christian Eriksen in the summer transfer window and Zaniolo could be a hugely exciting addition for them.
Spurs have already signed Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke, and they are confident of securing a deal for Zaniolo in the coming weeks.

Report confirms a worrying transfer clause in £45m West Ham player's contract

Report confirms a worrying transfer clause in £45m West Ham player's contract – originally posted on Sportslens.com

West Ham completed the club-record signing of Sebastien Haller earlier today.
The Hammers have paid £45m for his services.
According to reports from Bild and Kicker (translated by Sportwitness), the player has asked for a transfer clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for a Champions League club in future.
It was a condition from the player before he agreed to join the Hammers.
Haller is a quality striker who will improve West Ham a lot but the transfer clause in his contract leaves the Premier League club vulnerable to future offers from top clubs.
The Londoners could be under pressure to sell the player in future because of that agreement.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming years. The fans will certainly be worried about the clause.
It seems that Haller is using West Ham as a stepping stone right now and he is hoping to join a bigger club in future.
Having said that, if West Ham manage to fulfill his ambitions, he might end up staying for the long term.
The 25-year-old scored 15 goals and picked up 9 assists in the Bundesliga last season and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to English football now.

Report: Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign versatile 24-yr-old this summer

Report: Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign versatile 24-yr-old this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid attacker Angel Correa.
According to Sky Sports, the player was offered to the Londoners as a part of the Trippier deal.
However, the Spurs full-back completed his move to the La Liga side for cash earlier today.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs make an independent move for Correa now. The talented Argentine attacker could prove to be a good option for Pochettino next season.
The 24-year-old can play across the front three and he will add flair and creativity to the Tottenham attack.
Correa is a hardworking attacker who will fit in well with Pochettino’s style of play. His work-rate will add balance to Spurs wide positions and will provide cover for the full-backs as well.
Considering the fact that Correa is being offered around, it is safe to assume that he is not a key part of Simeone’s plans going forward.
In that case, Spurs can look to sign him for a knockdown price.
He has the potential to develop into a top player and Pochettino could be the man to unlock his potential.
At Spurs, the player will be able to play with more freedom and in a more attacking setup. It will only play to his strengths and help him make a positive impact.
The deal makes sense in theory and it will be interesting to see if Spurs are prepared to pursue him.

Report: Everton want to sign 25-yr-old Leicester target, attacker will cost £31.5m

Report: Everton want to sign 25-yr-old Leicester target, attacker will cost £31.5m – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Everton are interested in signing the Marseille attacker Lucas Ocampos this summer.
According to a report from L’Equipe (translated by Sportwitness), the player is a target for Leicester City as well.
The French outfit value him at €35m (£31.5m) and it will be interesting to see if his suitors are willing to pay up.
Everton could definitely use someone like Ocampos next season. The left sided attacker will add goals and assists to Silva’s attack.
The 25-year-old also works hard in the wide areas and he could help the side defensively as well.
Ocampos managed to score 4 goals in Ligue 1 last season and he picked up 7 assists. He is yet to reach his peak and he will continue to improve.
Also, he should be able to put up better numbers when he is playing alongside better players like Gomes, Richarlison and Digne.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks. The move certainly makes sense for Everton and convincing the player might not be too difficult.
The Premier League is an attractive proposition and Everton have the financial muscle to offer him a good package.
€35m isn’t a lot of money in today’s market and Silva should consider paying up if he really wants the player.
