Manchester United midfielder and Chelsea left-winger ‘on the table’ for La Liga side

According to Don Balon, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Chelsea left-winger Eden Hazard are ‘on the table’ for Real Madrid and Florentino Perez. The club president has the two Premier League stars on a list containing five names of transfer targets (PSG’s Adrien Rabiot, Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong) and could make a move for the duo in January or next summer. Whether he’ll succeed in acquiring their signature remains to be seen, however.
Pogba has a been a problem child of United’s ever since he returned to Old Trafford from Juventus in 2016. The French international, who has made 100 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, has struggled for form in his second stint in Manchester, and a public fallout with manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly opened the door for him to eventually leave. Don Balon believe Barcelona, not Real, might be the frontrunners for his signature.
Hazard has publicly admitted he was considering his options over the summer but he’s since been in fine form for Chelsea and appears happy to stay at Stamford Bridge. Real, who were linked with the Belgian international back in 2011, have always maintained an interest in Hazard that could culminate in a bid in January or June next year.

22-year-old joins Leeds injury list after breaking down on Monday

22-year-old joins Leeds injury list after breaking down on Monday – originally posted on

Leeds United defender Conor Shaughnessy has joined the injury list at the club while playing for the Under23 side on Monday, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Whites under 23 side stretched their unbeaten start to six games in the Professional Development League after earning a 2-2 draw against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday.
Leeds handed starts to first team players Jamal Blackman, Tom Pearce, Conor Shaughnessy and Lewis Baker. Adam Forshaw was on the bench alongside Ryan Edmondson.

The under-23s are down to 10 men. Shaughnessy off with an injury and all three substitutes have been used. #lufc

The report claims that the 22-year-old defender broke down with a strain and was forced off, leaving the Whites to play for the rest of the game with just 10 men.
Shaughnessy is not a regular starter and has been on the fringes of the first team under Marcelo Bielsa. He joins the likes of Gaetano Berardi, Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez on the injury list, and Patrick Bamford is also a long-term absentee.
While losing Shaughnessy won’t be a big blow for Leeds, the Whites fans will hope that his injury is nothing serious.
He is a backup to the senior side and can play his part, even from the substitute bench, if Liam Cooper or Pontus Jansson were to be ruled out.

'Really good': Rangers fans will love 21-year-old's latest comments – originally posted on

Glasgow Rangers winger Ryan Kent scored for the Ibrox club on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee.
The 21-year-old praised the Gers fans for being so supportive of him and opened up on a conversation that he shared with Steven Gerrard regarding his lack of goals.
Kent for the Ibrox club from Liverpool in the summer on a season-long loan. He has scored one goal and registered an assist in 11 appearances in all competitions thus far.
He has shown glimpses of his vast potential and is expected to play a major role for Gerrard’s side this season, should he remain injury free.
Rangers picked up their second win in the league after beating Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox, and Kent was one of the top performers for them.
Kent said that the Rangers fans have always been supportive of him and shared what Gerrard told him about his dry spell in front of goal, as quoted by the Scotsman:
“The fans have been really good to me here, I can’t fault them, they have always been supportive of me. I know myself that I need to add goals to my game. But the gaffer has told me not to worry about it. He said I just need to focus on my own performances and that my performances have been good up to now.”
Rangers will face Villarreal in a crucial Europa League clash on Thursday night, and Kent will be looking to make a strong impact one again.

Bielsa gives his honest verdict on one Leeds player; some fans react on Twitter

Bielsa gives his honest verdict on one Leeds player; some fans react on Twitter – originally posted on

Tyler Roberts, the January signing from West Brom, spearheaded the attack in Leeds United’s 1-1 draw against Millwall on Saturday.
It was his first league start for the club, and the 19-year-old striker failed to make an impact.
However, Leeds boss, Marcelo Bielsa has a different view. He has described the performance as “good” and says that Tyler did well.
The Argentine adds that he doesn’t judge a striker based on his goals, rather he considers the number of chances they have to score.
“Some people value the strikers when they score a goal. But I prefer to value them taking into account the number of chances they have to score. I think he had three or four chances to score,” said Bielsa as quoted by Leeds Live.
“And if he had scored one goal we would be all saying that he had done a wonderful performance. I think he did a correct performance, a good performance.”
Roberts had three or four good chances to score, but he failed to convert them. However, many Leeds fans have supported him, and have urged Bielsa to keep faith in the player.

Same with Chris Wood and many others.

Got in some good positions, had 3 goal scoring opportunities. On another day he would of bagged a couple. Think he is well worth persisting with
— BB (@saam_talk) September 16, 2018

A young kid on his full debut. Give him a chance, he will be very good for Leeds.
— Dave Evans (@davee_evans) September 16, 2018

@diamondclass46 Give him a chance, after all Chris Woods wasn’t exactly prolific in his first season at Leeds, not was Beckford!
— Raymond Diamond (@diamondclass46) September 16, 2018

Feel like with more game time in the position he puts those chances away. Nothing can compare or prepare you for first team football like this unless you get s run of games.
— Greg Andrews LUFC (@Greg_01) September 16, 2018

Obviously nervous and lacking a bit of confidence but nothing a goal against Preston won’t put right.
— David Haines (@SkyDaveLeeds) September 16, 2018

He is still very young, and it would have been a killer blow to his confidence if he was criticised by his manager in the press.
With Kemar Roofe out for at least a couple of weeks, and Patrick Bamford sidelined until the new year, Bielsa must provide support to the youngster and give him the required confidence.
He is likely to be given another chance to impress against Preston North End, and the youngster must grab this opportunity with both hands.
Roberts is far from being the finished product but he has plenty of talent. Leeds need to be patient with him.

Pellegrini names the West Ham player who 'needs more work' despite strong display v Everton

Pellegrini names the West Ham player who 'needs more work' despite strong display v Everton – originally posted on

West Ham produced a superb team effort as they registered their first win on Sunday.
The Hammers won 3-1 against Everton in the Premier League clash at Goodison Park, and moved out of the drop zone.
Summer signing Andriy Yarmolenko scored twice while Marko Arnautovic added another as Manuel Pellegrini’s side picked up three points.
The 28-year-old made five Premier League appearances but four of them came from the bench. On this occasion, he made the best use of it, and Pellegrini is happy with his performance.
After the match, the Chilean said that Yarmolenko has loads of quality, and he displayed that on the pitch against Everton.
At the same time, the former Manchester City manager added that Yarmolenko needs more work to get himself for Premier League challenge.
Interestingly, Arnautovic attempted only two shots during the game, and he scored from both of them. He also managed 33 passes during the game with 81.8% accuracy.
“I know what the Premier League is and Andriy didn’t arrive here ready to play in the Premier League. He has a lot of quality, he has demonstrated that but he needs more work,” said Pellegrini, as quoted by Football London.
“We preferred to work with him a couple of weeks and when I saw he was ready, he needed to demonstrate his quality. I think that today he did that.”

Glasgow Rangers secured their second win after beating Dundee 4-0 at the Ibrox on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership clash.
Lassana Coulibaly, Ryan Kent, James Tavernier and Glenn Middleton scored for the Gers.
After the match, Rangers skipper James Tavernier, 26, took to social networking site Twitter, to express his reaction. He wrote:

Great 3 points and a clean sheet after the break 🙌🏽 Onto Thursday now 🔴⚪️🔵
— James Tavernier (@James_Tavernier) September 15, 2018

Former Gers player Kenny Miller, who captained Dundee, was dismissed late on for a challenge on Borna Barisic.
It was a great way for Rangers to bounce back in the league after they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Celtic in the Old Firm derby before the international break.
With this victory, Rangers have now moved just two points behind Celtic in the league, and will go into Thursday’s Europa League group opener away to Villarreal brimming with confidence.
Rangers fans quickly responded to Tavernier’s tweet, and praised him for his performance. The Gers enjoyed 64% of possession and attempted 19 shots during the game.

Well done captain 🇬🇧👍🏻

'One hell of an asset': BBC pundit gives his verdict on £100k-per-week West Ham player

'One hell of an asset': BBC pundit gives his verdict on £100k-per-week West Ham player – originally posted on

West Ham registered their first Premier League win under Manuel Pellegrini after winning 3-1 against Everton on Sunday at Goodison Park.
Andriy Yarmolenko scored twice, while Marko Arnautovic added another for the Hammers. The victory not only lifted the gloom after a disastrous start to the season, but also ensured the Hammers move out of the bottom three.
Former Spurs player turned popular football pundit, Garth Crooks, has showered praise on Arnautovic, saying he could be “one hell of an asset” for the Hammers.
The Austrian, who is on £100k-per-week wages at West Ham, scored three goals and registered one assist in the Premier League already this season.
West Ham spent big this summer on new players and Crooks says that the victory is an indicator that the Hammers are capable of producing strong performance like this once their new signings settle down.
Crooks says the 29-year-old is “high maintenance” but at the same time, the maverick West Ham forward can make a difference single-handedly.
“The result against Everton was a good indicator of what West Ham are capable of once this new group of players settles down and finds a rhythm,” wrote Crooks for BBC Sports.
“Much of the pulsation came from Marko Arnautovic and his new strike partner Andriy Yarmolenko. Arnautovic is high maintenance but if the Austrian can be bridled he can be one hell of an asset.”

'Not fatigue': Redknapp points out why 25-year-old Spurs star is underperforming

'Not fatigue': Redknapp points out why 25-year-old Spurs star is underperforming – originally posted on

Popular football pundit Jamie Redknapp says that Tottenham Hotspur missed Dele Alli badly during their last match against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Reds won 2-1 against Spurs and recorded five straight league wins in the league – the first time they did so since 1990.
Alli missed the match through injury. And Redknapp says that Spurs’s defeat shows how crucial Alli is to the team.
He adds that the England midfielder is a player for the big occasion, and it is not a coincidence that Spurs have won just one of the nine games he has missed.
Redknapp has made an interesting observation. Spurs striker Harry Kane has cut a very subdued figure this month, and a lot of talk has been going on whether he has been affected by fatigue.
The 25-year-old has played a lot of matches in the last 3-4 years, and there are concerns that he has little energy left in his tank.
Redknapp doesn’t think so. He says that Kane is struggling because he is not getting the proper supply from his teammates.
“Tottenham’s defeat exposed just how much they miss Dele Alli. He is a man for the big occasion, someone who pops up with crucial goals in the most important games,” wrote Redknapp for the Daily Mail.
“It does not surprise me that Spurs have won just one of the nine games he has missed. Harry Kane’s main problem against Liverpool was not fatigue but the lack of supply from his team-mates. Dele is a brilliant link man who gives Kane so much service.”

'He's dangerous', 'Tough opponent' – La Liga man raves about Rangers star

'He's dangerous', 'Tough opponent' – La Liga man raves about Rangers star – originally posted on

Rangers face Villarreal in the Europa League during the midweek.
The Scottish outfit have been very impressive in Europe so far this season and they will be looking to pull off an upset here.
However, Villarreal are a far superior team and it would be no surprise if they picked up an easy win.
Steven Gerrard’s men have been resilient at the back this season and the former Liverpool player will be hoping for more of the same against the La Liga side.
A major issue for the Scottish side will be the absence of Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian is suspended because of his red card against FC Ufa and he won’t be playing here.
Rangers will find it tough to score in Spain without their talisman forward. Lafferty is a good player but Morelos is in red hot form right now and he will be missed.
Colombian striker Carlos Bacca has revealed that Morelos’s absence will be a bonus for his side. He believes that the Rangers forward is a dangerous player.
He said: “Morelos is a really good young player. I spoke to him during the international break and he told me he had been sent off in the last round so he wouldn’t play against us. He was very disappointed about it but it’s good for us because he’s a dangerous player. He did well when he came on in the international against Venezuela – he got a chance to score immediately. Unfortunately, he didn’t take it, but he showed he knows how to get into the right position up front. It’s a pity for him but it’s good for us that he will be missing. He’s a strong boy and he would be a tough opponent so it’s lucky for us he won’t play.”

'Is he up to the task?' – Popular pundit questions Silva after Everton's humiliating defeat

'Is he up to the task?' – Popular pundit questions Silva after Everton's humiliating defeat – originally posted on

Everton crashed to a 3-1 defeat at home to West Ham yesterday.
The Toffees struggled to deal with the Hammers’ attack and individual errors cost them the game.
Marco Silva’s side have made a poor start to the season and the former Watford boss will be under a lot of pressure to turn it around.
The Portuguese manager has been backed sufficiently in the transfer window but the team is yet to show real signs of progress. Everton are still leaking goals at the back and they are lacking in goals upfront.
Popular pundit Chris Sutton has questioned Silva’s pedigree after the game.
The BBC Pundit said: “Have they flattered to deceive under Marco Silva? Is he a bit of a myth? It’s a big job…is he up to the task?”.
It will be interesting to see if Silva can turn it around soon enough. There is no doubt that Everton have a decent squad and they are underperforming.
Injuries have played a part in their poor form, but Silva needs to get more out of his players.
