Guillem Balague reveals why Manchester United’s interest in Matthijs De Ligt cooled down

Manchester United are looking to improve their squad significantly over the summer transfer window following a dismal 2018-19 campaign, and the centre defence is one of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer top priorities after his side leaked 54 league goals.
The Red Devils have been linked with Ajax centre-back Matthijs De Ligt, but it doesn’t appear that they are still in the race for his signature.
According to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich are the only clubs the 19-year-old is considering, and that United’s interest in him has since cooled down.
“The interest from Manchester United cooled down because of the cost,” Balague said on his official YouTube account.
“And there wasn’t too much reciprocation of love, if you like, from De Ligt because Manchester United are not in the Champions League next season, so that was taken out of the list long time ago.”
Ajax want around £61million for the teenage sensation, and while most of his suitors are willing to meet the price, United weren’t keen.
Juventus are also willing to meet his wage demands, but Barcelona are hoping playing alongside Lionel Messi will excite him the more.
The Red Devils will have to look elsewhere for a centre-back, and they will most likely pay a heavy price for missing out on the Champions League places during the summer transfer window, as most of their targets aren’t keen on playing Europa League football.

Report: United won't hand striker new deal until October following past mistakes

Report: United won't hand striker new deal until October following past mistakes – originally posted on

According to The Sun, Manchester United aren’t in a rush to hand 17-year-old striker Mason Greenwood a new deal until he turns 18.
The teenage sensation made his debut during the 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain and featured in three Premier League games in 2018-19, playing the full game against Cardiff City on the last day of the campaign.
Greenwood remains highly-rated at Old Trafford due to his great potential, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has plans for him to be a big part of the first-team next season.
The Academy Graduate only signed a professional deal last October when he turned 17, and United are waiting till he turns 18 before contract renewal talks begin.
The club want to see how he performs during the pre-season and if he is worth being handed an improved contract having realized they made mistakes to give Federico Macheda and Adnan Januzaj huge £50,000-a-week deals after they broke into the first-team.

"I do not desire to leave Tottenham" – 26y/o reveals amidst exit links

"I do not desire to leave Tottenham" – 26y/o reveals amidst exit links – originally posted on

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on a new right-back as manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to replace both Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier.
The England international has been routinely linked with a summer move to Napoli, but his Ivory Coast international counterpart isn’t keen on leaving the North London outfit yet, and is looking to bounce back stronger from his injury woes ahead of 2019-2020.
“In football things can happen very quickly. For the moment I do not desire to leave Tottenham. For the moment, I am very happy,” the 26-year-old told Canal Football Club.
“This season I have been interrupted by injury more than anything else, but life is like that. I will have to see what will happen (on if he can make it into the starting XI).
“We have done a good season and we are in the Champions’ League final, we are going to enjoy that, see how it goes and next year, my season is not finished, I still have an Africa Cup of Nations too.”
Aurier featured in just eight league games in 2018-19, and in nine appearances across the three other competitions.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man suffered an injury while on international duty in March, and hasn’t featured since the 1-0 defeat of Borussia Dortmund although he is now fully fit.
Since arriving Tottenham in the summer of 2017 for £23million, Aurier has played just 41 times for the club, and while it remains to be seen if he has already played his last, the player himself isn’t keen on giving up just yet, and it will be interesting to see if he can be able to force himself into Pochettino’s plans.
The AFCON might be his last chance to do so.

"90m + Smalling, Jones and Young" – Some United fans in awe of summer target's incredible performance

"90m + Smalling, Jones and Young" – Some United fans in awe of summer target's incredible performance – originally posted on

Manchester United are reportedly interested in securing the services of Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, and some of their fans are craving for the move the more following his standout performance in his side’s 4-1 win against Inter Milan last night.
The Senegalese, who has been named the 2018-19 Serie A’s best defender made a goal-line clearance in the 68th minute, preventing Inter from halving the deficit.
It was a moment that highlighted exactly why he could be the one to solve the Red Devils’ defensive woes and be their answer to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
Some United fans were left in awe of the incredible piece of defending, and here is how they reacted on Twitter:

Koulibaly’s goal line clearance 👏🏼

Throw in Sanchez and Lukaku whilst we’re at it as well
— Josh Slinger (@JoshSlinger) May 19, 2019

How is that not a goal? Kalidou is the real deal @ManUtd
— Uncle Duncan™ (@Duncan_Kaycee) May 19, 2019

Wow! The speed of thought to know where the ball was gonna go. Elite defending. But hey, we’ve got a kid at Villa who’s coming back. No worries! @ManUtd
— ProjectMUST AFRICA (@ProjectMUST) May 19, 2019

Beast of a defender.. imagine the lad with fully fit Baily
— felipe lobos (@Oluwawhales1) May 19, 2019

He knew where the ball will go…… Buy him even if his price is 150m
— Kofi Kimmich (@KimmichKofi) May 20, 2019

Koulibaly has helped Napoli to 13 clean sheets in the league this term, making over 126 clearances, 31 blocks, and he has also won 67%of his total tackles (60).
United let in 54 league goals in 2018-19, more than any team in the top nine, and they definitely need a centre-back in the mould of the Senegal international if they are to become better defensively going forward.
Napoli won’t be letting go of the 27-year-old for nothing less than a world-record transfer fee (£75million) for a defender, and it remains to be seen if manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be given that much backing in the transfer window.

Report: Tottenham in the hunt to sign £1.7m-rated striker

Report: Tottenham in the hunt to sign £1.7m-rated striker – originally posted on

According to reports from French publication L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Haissem Hassan.
The prodigiously gifted 17-year-old Chateauroux striker has been attracting serious attention from some of the heavyweight clubs in Europe.
The report claims that two English clubs and two Spanish sides in the top six of La Liga are taking a keen interest in signing him.
Spurs are mentioned in the report as the only specific team to have expressed an interest in the teenage striker who is valued at £1.7m.
The French club have already received an offer although it has not been confirmed whether it has come from Spurs. If Spurs have made an offer, then chances are high that he could move to the Premier League in the summer.
This summer is going to be massive for Spurs, as Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be given a transfer war chest to add players of his choice.
Hassan surely is the one for the future. He has made two Ligue 2 appearances for the second-tier side this season, but Spurs scouts must have seen something special in him.

Report: Rangers make contact to sign 21 y/o defender…but there's a catch

Report: Rangers make contact to sign 21 y/o defender…but there's a catch – originally posted on

Glasgow Rangers are looking to bring George Edmundson to the Ibrox club this summer, and the Gers have made initial contact already.
According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (19/5; page 63), the Gers have made a formal approach to sign the Oldham defender. They have made contact with the club regarding the availability of the centre-back.
Recently, the Daily Mail reported that likes of Stoke City and Hull City are interested in the player as well. He is reportedly valued at around £450,000, and the player is keen on making a step up.
However, Rangers are not prepared to pay more than £500,000 for the youngster. Bolstering the defence is a priority for Steven Gerrard as both Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley likely to not be at the club next season.
Rangers have Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson, but they need quality and depth in that position. The 21-year-old has already made 79 appearances for the League Two club, and he certainly has the quality to fill the role at Ibrox.
While Oldham are hoping that an auction ensues to drive the price up, Rangers are reluctant to pay over the odds. While Edmundson has all the potential to be a very player, and could turn out to be a bargain, Rangers must not pay over the odds for him as they need to save the fund for the marquee signings.

Capello: This 'one of the very best' manager could be perfect for Celtic

Capello: This 'one of the very best' manager could be perfect for Celtic – originally posted on

Former England boss Fabio Capello has said that Claudio Ranieri would be an ideal fit for Celtic.
Ranieri, who won the Premier League title with Leicester City, is set to leave his position at Roma in the summer. According to reports, the 67-year-old is being considered as one of the candidates to become the permanent manager of the Bhoys.
Neil Lennon is currently taking charge of the club that are aiming to win the domestic treble for the third time in a row. However, doubts remain whether he will be given a full-time job even if Celtic manage to win the treble (which is a possibility) this season.
Although Lennon is confident that he will get the full-time managerial role, speculations are rife that the club are after a bigger name.
According to reports from the Daily Record, Rafael Benitez is among the frontrunners, while Ranieri is also in the frame. And Capello believes that Ranieri has the experience and pedigree to be a success at Celtic.
“For me, he’s one of the very best coaches around, as he has shown managing really top-level sides in Italy, France, England and Spain,” Capello told the Sunday Post .
“Claudio is at the top level of his profession, and after what he did at Leicester, he can do anything – even in Scotland.
“For him, it would be another excellent challenge, and considering the quality of Celtic, he could also perhaps win another title to add to his collection.
“Celtic had a great coach in Brendan Rodgers, a man who is technically so good.
“Now it is obvious that the board are looking around for someone for next season who will be at the same very high level.
“I have heard Claudio Ranieri is one of the coaches they are looking at, and I can see why. He is a football man, is very experienced and has succeeded in several countries.
“He would have no problem adapting to Scottish football, which is more physical and less technical than the Italian and English games.
“Certainly, he should find different challenges in Glasgow than he has in his other jobs. But for a man like him, with his past, I am sure it would not be a problem.”

Owen's interesting Manchester City prediction as they complete unprecedented domestic treble

Owen's interesting Manchester City prediction as they complete unprecedented domestic treble – originally posted on

Manchester City became the first ever English Premier League side to win the league title, the Football League Cup and F.A Cup in a season, with Saturday’s 6-0 drubbing of Watford in the F.A Cup finals highlighting their complete domestic dominance and superiority.
The unprecedented achievement makes this City side one of the best ever to grace the English top-flight, and former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Micheal Owen believes it will take a lot of efforts to stop them from dominating going forward.

Hats off to @ManCity
Absolutely brilliant team who’ve made history this season. It’s going to take a superhuman effort to stop them in the coming years….
— michael owen (@themichaelowen) May 19, 2019

Pep Guardiola’s side successfully defended the Premier League title after pipping Liverpool to the coveted prize by one point, becoming the first side to do so in the last decade, while they also retained the League Cup.
They were unlucky in Europe, though, losing the Champions League quarterfinals to Tottenham Hotspur on away-goal rule following a 4-4 draw on aggregate.
Despite already assembling the most expensive squad on the planet, Pep is expected to make few additions to the team this summer in order to strongly challenge across all four competitions next term, and as Owen has predicted, it could take a superhuman effort to stop them in the coming years.

'Fantastic', 'cracking signing': Some Wolves fans react after knowing who Nuno wants this summer

'Fantastic', 'cracking signing': Some Wolves fans react after knowing who Nuno wants this summer – originally posted on

Wolves fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to express their reaction after reports broke out that the Premier League outfit are interested in signing West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon in the summer transfer window.
According to reports from the Express and Star, Wolves are interested in signing Rondon, who spent this season on loan at Newcastle.
The 29-year-old scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League for the Magpies this season. The report claims that he is interested in moving to Molineux.
The Venezuela striker has a £16m release clause and Wolves are happy to meet that price. He could become the first player in 25 years to cross the Black Country divide should he make the move.
He is out of contract at the Hawthorns next summer, and would be a fantastic addition for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. He would add quality and depth to the side, and provide competition for Raul Jimenez.
Here are some of the best reactions from the Wolves fans on Twitter:

He appeared fitter and seemed to see games out better for Newcastle, probably helped that he had team mates within 80 yards of him
— Sam Turner (@STurnerTipster) May 18, 2019

Really? I’m sure he is a fantastic player and all that, but think of the players we have signed for less than 16 million, does he represent good value, and will he improve the team?
— Jon Moss (@RonnieHotDog76) May 18, 2019

Good signing. Sweeten with bright on loan to them for the season and see if he sinks or swims
— Hoops (@RyHoops83) May 18, 2019

Had a year at Newcastle so wouldn’t feel as direct even though it is. Would be a cracking signing. Don’t want to give them a penny but for me he’s worth more than 16.5m so I’d take him.
— Danny Rosamond (@DannyRosamond) May 18, 2019

Not a bad option
— Kevin Rogers (@Kevin_Paycare) May 18, 2019

100% try and get him in ticks lots of boxes different option, very decent footballer and he will derail the Albion even more (going anyway) 👍

Report: Tottenham likely to target four new signings including 21-cap int'l

Report: Tottenham likely to target four new signings including 21-cap int'l – originally posted on

According to reports from the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are likely to target four new players ahead of the summer transfer window.
Spurs didn’t sign a player in their last two transfer windows, and Mauricio Pochettino must delve into the market this summer to make surgeries to the squad wherever required.
The report claims that Spurs are targeting 21-cap Belgium international Youri Tielemans, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon, and Malcom from Barcelona.
According to a report from The Times, Tottenham are reportedly looking to spend £100m this summer, and they could fund their transfer dealings by selling players.
This summer is absolutely vital for Spurs. Pochettino has done wonders this season, guiding the side to a top-four finish in the Premier League and taking them to the Champions League final, but the Argentine needs quality signings in order to take the team to the next level.
Spurs have suffered 13 defeats this season, and there is a feeling among the fans that Pochettino has taken the squad to its maximum potential. The above-mentioned players would bring quality to the side, and some extra competition for places.
The north Londoners must ensure they add depth and quality in almost every position, and enter the next season stronger than they are right now.
