Manchester City close to agreeing new deal for highly-rated midfielder

According to The Sun, Manchester City are close to agreeing a new deal for Phil Foden. The highly-rated midfielder recently scored his first goal at senior level against Oxford United in the League Cup and is expected to spend the season in the first-team. Foden has made four appearances in all competitions in 2018/19 and will now be rewarded for the progress he’s made.
The 18-year-old, who has made one appearance for the England u19s, has risen through the youth ranks to feature 14 times under Pep Guardiola. He’s been likened to Andres Iniesta due to his awareness on the pitch and quick feet to get out of tight situations. His current deal with City has two years to run, but the Sky Blues want to avoid the risk of losing him by not tying him down sooner.
Foden has been patiently waiting for more opportunities and Guardiola has made it clear that this season could be a breakthrough campaign for the teenager. He should be open to signing a new deal with Manchester City as a result, so long as the two parties can agree personal terms. Talks are expected to take place imminently.

West Ham must look to turn potential Arsenal loss into their gain next summer

West Ham must look to turn potential Arsenal loss into their gain next summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is set to leave the club at the end of the season after contract talks broke down.

The 27-year-old is in the last year of his current deal, and while he is very much ready to commit his future to the club after months of negotiations, it appears both parties haven’t been able to reach a positive conclusion.

And what appears to be a potential Arsenal loss could end up being West Ham United’s gain.

The Hammers brought in Jack Wilshere from the north London side this summer for free, and shouldn’t hesitate to swoop on his former teammate Ramsey once he becomes available.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Lazio and Juventus are all said to be keeping tabs on the development, and while the Premier League duo could attract the Wales international, he isn’t guaranteed regular playing minutes at any of the sides.

However, that is sure to be available at West Ham given Ramsey’s quality and versatility, and adding such an experienced and top player to their squad will definitely go a long way in improving them.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side could do with few more additions to their midfield department despite recruiting in the summer, and the three-time F.A Cup winning star brings a lot, including goals and assists, to the table.

It remains to be seen if Unai Emery and the Arsenal board will allow Ramsey’s contract expire, but time is slowly running out, and they would be suffering a huge loss if he leaves.

West Ham should be readying a juicy offer if the Gunners make such a grave mistake, and given that the chance to reunite with Wilshere at the London Stadium and remain in the city could excite the Welsh star, a move could just be on the cards if the Hammers show ambition.

Arsenal ‘ready to listen to offers’ for 27-year-old, ‘no new contract on the table’

Arsenal ‘ready to listen to offers’ for 27-year-old, ‘no new contract on the table’ – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to the Mirror, Aaron Ramsey could leave Arsenal next summer as there is ‘no new contract on the table’. The Welsh international’s deal expires at the end of the season and Arsenal are currently struggling to agree an extension, despite the club being keen to keep Ramsey and the player supposedly happy to stay.
Ramsey joined Arsenal from Cardiff City in 2008 and has gone on to make 338 appearances in all competitions. The 27-year-old has won three FA Cups and two Community Shields and was a key player under previous manager Arsene Wenger. He’s featured in all six of Arsenal’s Premier League outings under new boss Unai Emery too, but his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is in doubt.
The long-serving Gunner signed a five-year deal in 2014 which will expire in June 2019. The Telegraph now believe Arsenal are ‘ready to listen to offers’ for Ramsey as they’re resigned to losing him. For someone who has been a great servant in the last ten years, he’ll certainly be a loss. Arsenal’s wage bill has to be kept under control and meeting the midfielder’s demands isn’t possible.

Everton agree new deal for Pickford, contract signed until 2024

Everton agree new deal for Pickford, contract signed until 2024 – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Everton have confirmed that Jordan Pickford has agreed a new deal until 2024. The 24-year-old has spent little over 12 months at Goodison Park after joining from Sunderland and has become the first-choice goalkeeper for club and country.
Pickford has made 52 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees, keeping 12 clean sheets, and could retain his no.1 jersey for a long time. His original deal was until 2022, but Everton have made it clear that they want Pickford for a lengthy period as he has the potential to become one of the best in the Premier League.
The squad may have a good shot-stopper, but Marco Silva’s men are underperforming. Everton are currently 12th in the division with six points from as many games this season, having gone four without a win. The Blues have suffered back-to-back defeats ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Fulham.
Despite such toils, Pickford said he feels at home at Everton and thanked the club for paving the way for him to become England’s no.1. The ex-Black Cat was named Everton’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year after a successful debut campaign on a personal note.

Arsenal ‘making checks’ on £20m left-winger who has been ‘likened to Ousmane Dembele’

Arsenal ‘making checks’ on £20m left-winger who has been ‘likened to Ousmane Dembele’ – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are ‘making checks’ on Rennes left-winger Ismaila Sarr. The 20-year-old has a £20m asking price and is highly-rated, but his signature may be hard to procure. Not only are Serie A giants Inter Milan also in the race for his services, Rennes aren’t looking to offload Sarr, so Arsenal have their work cut out if they want to add to their squad.
The Senegalese international, who has scored three goals in 19 games for his country and has been ‘likened to Ousmane Dembele’, has made 34 appearances in all competitions for Rennes since joining the Ligue 1 club from FC Metz in 2017. This season, he’s featured on seven occasions across the board, scoring and creating four goals which has come to the attention of a number of clubs.
Arsenal aren’t short of attacking options, however. The Gunners have Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Danny Welbeck, so they may not need Sarr. That’s not to say the winger wouldn’t improve their squad. He was nominated for the Golden Boy award after impressing at the World Cup and recently scored a wonder goal in the Europa League.

West Ham star vows to use Macclesfield opportunity to displace £7million summer signing

West Ham star vows to use Macclesfield opportunity to displace £7million summer signing – originally posted on Sportslens.com

West Ham United host Macclesfield Town in the third-round of the League Cup on Wednesday night, and manager Manuel Pellegrini is expected to name a second-string side against the League Two outfit.
Backup goalkeeper Adrian is set to make his second appearance of the season having been in goal against AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the competition, and he is hoping to impress the boss in order to stake a claim for a permanent starting position.
The 31-year-old Spaniard is behind £7million summer signing Lukasz Fabianski in the pecking order, and given the excellent form of the Pole in the Premier League thus far, Adrian has a lot of convincing to do if he is to have any chances of displacing him.
“Obviously it’s not the best of scenarios for a goalkeeper [to be the back-up] because we want to play all the games but tonight’s game is an opportunity to show that Adrian is at a good level,” he told the club’s official website.
“I am still here and can help the team in the cup and, when I have the opportunity, I have to give my best to show the manager I’m in my top condition.
“In training, I am feeling better than ever! I’m in good shape and I’m training very well. The manager has decided to play with Lukasz in the league, but I need to keep my form in every opportunity I can and to show that I have a good level.”
This isn’t the first time Adrian has needed to prove himself in order to get into first-team contention.
The Spaniard displaced Joe Hart in goal at a point last season under former manager David Moyes, and an impressive performance on Wednesday night could leave Pellegrini with selection headaches going forward.
Given the quality of tonight’s opposition, West Ham remain favourites to advance to the last-16 round, and with the competition set to get tougher as the club progresses, stronger challenges await Adrian going forward in his mission to become a fixture in the lineup.

Derby County picked up a memorable win over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last night.
The Championship outfit did well to recover from Juan Mata’s early goal. Derby got back on level terms through Harry Wilson’s stunning freekick.
The on-loan Liverpool winger scored one of the best goals of the season and set up another for Jack Marriott just five minutes from time.
Marouane Fellaini scored the equalizer for the home side deep into stoppage time but the Red Devils eventually crashed out of the competition on penalties.
Popular pundit Gary Lineker shared his thoughts on the game on his Twitter account. The former England international tweeted that the win over Manchester United is the making of Frank Lampard as a manager.
His tweet read:

A managerial star is born. Congratulations to @dcfcofficial and well played Frank Lampard and his team.
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) September 25, 2018

Lampard will be delighted with the way his side performed against a Premier League giant. Derby were on the front foot right from the start and they controlled the game with their movement, work rate and crisp passing.
