Report suggests who Tottenham identified to replace key figure

Report suggests who Tottenham identified to replace key figure – originally posted on

The future of Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has become the subject of intense speculation after Julen Lopetegui was sacked following Real Madrid’s 5-1 El Classico humiliation away at Barcelona.
Pochettino only signed a new long-term deal in the summer, but he has been a long term target of Real Madrid. The Argentine has done a great job at Spurs, and many feel that he has taken the club to the maximum limit with the budget he has been provided.
With the club failing to sign a single player in the summer and the stadium saga rumbling on, the Spurs players reportedly are fearful that Pochettino could be on his way.
According to reports from Calciomercato, Spurs already have identified a replacement for the former Southampton boss – Massimiliano Allegri.
The 51-year-old is regarded as one of the best coaches of modern era. He has guided Juventus to four consecutive Serie A titles, and looks on course to win the fifth title this season as well. Furthermore, he guided AC Milan to their most recent Serie A title seven years ago.

Everton could soon be dealt huge blow if EPL boss heeds Italian scout's advice

Everton could soon be dealt huge blow if EPL boss heeds Italian scout's advice – originally posted on

Everton did brilliantly during the summer transfer window, and one of the best deals manager Marco Silva secured was the loan signing of Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma.
The French defender spent last season on loan at Stoke City, but wasn’t still needed at Stamford Bridge despite an excellent individual campaign with the relegated Potters.
Zouma is currently impressing at Goodison Park, and has already earned a recall to the national team as a result.
Everton will surely love to sign him permanently next summer, but in what could be a potential blow, Italian scout Fabrizio Bertuzzi has urged Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to bring the 24-year-old defender back to the London club.
“Sarri has shown that he knows how to build players. I would always choose the ‘colonel’ Zouma,” the formerFiorentina scout recently told Tribalfootball.
“I still have in my mind the Under 20 World Cup he won in 2013, along with Pogba, Veretout, Thauvin. I am very glad he has been called by Deschamps.
“If he manages to return to rapidity he always shown, I think he still is one of the best defenders in the world.”
Zouma will surely hope to impress Sarri and secure a Chelsea return having been part of the squad that won the league titles in 2014/15 and 2016/17.
The former Saint-Etienne star was slowly establishing himself as a first-team regular during the 2015-16 season, only for him to rupture his anterior cruciate ligament in February 2016, and that ruled him out of action for six months.
Since returning to full fitness in October 2016, Zouma has gradually worked his way back to that top form that earned him his call-up in 2015, but it remains to be seen if he is keen on signing permanently for Everton, or if he sees the season-long loan as a chance to return to Chelsea’s first team.

Leeds ace may need to make big decision in January amid fresh transfer speculation

Leeds ace may need to make big decision in January amid fresh transfer speculation – originally posted on

Leeds United did extremely well to keep hold of one of their exciting young talents, Tom Pearce, over the summer, and they may have a battle on their hands again to ensure his future.
Paul Heckingbottom gave young Pearce the opportunity to impress towards the end of last season, and he duly made an impact. His performances attracted interest from his former club Everton.
Leeds convinced him to sign a new deal till 2022, but once again it could be decision time for him if Everton keep knocking on his door during the January transfer window.
The Sun on Sunday (28/10; page 59) claimed that Everton and Bournemouth are back in the race for Pearce, and they could launch moves to lure him away from Elland Road.
Leeds signed Barry Douglas from Wolves in the summer and he has become the club’s first-choice left back. Pearce has made just two Championship appearances this season, and hasn’t been given the start by Marcelo Bielsa in the absence of Douglas.
He could be tempted by a move to the Premier League if Everton come calling. He won’t be a regular starter at Goodison Park, but at least he would be getting Premier League exposure and training with top class players.
The 20-year-old could be seen as a long term replacement for Leighton Baines, and the club could groom him behind Lucas Digne. He would have plenty to think about if Everton come calling, and this time he may find the temptation difficult to resist.

Report: West Brom keeping eye on 27-year-old ace, Moore rates him highly

Report: West Brom keeping eye on 27-year-old ace, Moore rates him highly – originally posted on

Glasgow Rangers rejected two bids for Ibrox skipper James Tavernier in the summer, but West Bromwich Albion are ready to try their luck once again.
According to reports from the Daily Record, the Gers skipper is still being targeted by the Baggies, as Darren Moore is keen to add an attacking full-back to his squad in January.
The English championship side failed to lure him away from Ibrox, despite making two bids for the defender. Moore rates him highly and believes that he would boost their promotion push.
Rangers rejected both of them with Steven Gerrard making it clear that it would take a shed-load of money for any club to sign him.
However, West Brom are likely to try their luck again in January. The Baggies have sent a scout to Hampden on Sunday to watch Tavernier in the Betfred Cup semi-final defeat against Aberdeen.
The 27-year-old has been in superb form this season. He has scored eight goals in all competitions this season already.

Report: Rangers set to move for 105-cap international in January

Report: Rangers set to move for 105-cap international in January – originally posted on

Glasgow Rangers are looking to bring back their former player to the Ibrox club in the January transfer window as Steven Gerrard tries to bolster his squad.
According to reports from The Belfast Telegraph, the Gers are poised to make a move for Steven Davis, who is getting increasingly frustrated at Southampton due to lack of regular game time.
The Northern Ireland skipper, who has 105 caps for his country, left Ibrox to join St Mary’s in 2012, is now looking to return to his former club on a loan move.
The 33-year-old has made 220 appearances for the Saints since leaving Rangers. However, this season, he is yet to start in a league fixture.
Mark Hughes deploys two defensively-minded central midfielders in Oriol Romeu and Mario Lemina which means Davis has been frozen out.
The Gers wanted to sign him in the summer but they couldn’t strike a deal. It seems they will make a move for him again, on loan this time with the option to sign him permanently.
Davis was a fan favourite at Rangers. During his four seasons at the club, he won three Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and three League Cups. Additionally, he helped the Gers to a Uefa Cup Final in 2008 after he was loaned from Fulham.

Double boost for Rangers ahead of Kilmarnock clash

Double boost for Rangers ahead of Kilmarnock clash – originally posted on

Steven Gerrard has received a double boost ahead of Rangers’ meeting with Kilmarnock, with Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty both available for Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership meeting, reports Sky Sports. Rangers welcome second-placed Killie to Ibrox with a chance to go level on points and have a game in hand if they come out on top.
Gerrard’s men are currently fifth in the Premiership with 17 points from nine games and are coming off the back of fine form, boasting four wins from their last five. Rangers are just three points adrift of Kilmarnock, who have won four and drawn one of their previous five, so it’s all to play for.
Home advantage is unlikely to be a factor, as although Rangers boast a 100% record at Ibrox this season Killie have won three of their last four away games – only Hearts have a better record on the road. Nevertheless, having Morelos and Lafferty available for selection is good news, as Umar Sadiq was underwhelming in attack during Rangers’ League Cup semi-final defeat to Aberdeen.
It’s a big game for both clubs on Wednesday night, with Rangers having the chance to get themselves back into the title race, while Killie could pull away from the chasing pack if results go their way.

Should Celtic reignite interest in £7m forward after latest reports?

Should Celtic reignite interest in £7m forward after latest reports? – originally posted on

Henry Onyekuru was heavily linked with a move to Celtic before he joined Everton in the summer of 2017.
The 21-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Merseyside club and there is a possibility that he could be sold before he gets the chance to impress the Goodison faithfuls.
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Everton director of football Marcel Brands is willing to cash in on the Nigerian forward.
Should Celtic reignite their interest in Onyekuru?
Everton paid 7 million to Belgian side KAS Eupen when they snapped him up, but their latest stance could give the Bhoys a glimmer of hope of signing him.
Celtic certainly need to bolster their attacking department thanks to Moussa Dembele’s deadline day move to Lyon in the summer transfer window.
The Hoops have 20 million from the sale burning a hole in the pocket, and should look to invest in a replacement.
Celtic should reignite their interest in Onyekuru who would arrive in Scotland with loads of raw talent. He will get a good manager in Brendan Rodgers who can nurture his potential and make him a top class player.
