Aston Villa are all set to complete the signing of Borja Baston from Swansea.
According to John Percy from The Telegraph, the striker will join Dean Smith’s side on a short term deal.
With Wesley ruled out for the season, Villa wanted to bring in a striker this month but they failed to sign any of their top targets.
Baston has been in poor form for Swansea and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the Premier League.
A fresh start at a new club could be a positive for him. He will be looking to regain his sharpness and confidence with regular game time at Villa Park.
The Atheltic have confirmed the same.

Apparently, Aston Villa’s Sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch knew the player from their time together at Atletico Madrid.
Baston is heading to Aston Villa for his medical now. The 27-year-old Spaniard will be out of contract in the summer and if he manages to impress with Villa, he could bag a permanent move to Aston Villa.
Villa have been linked with a host of attackers this month. The likes of Giroud, Murray, Slimani and Jay Rodriguez were all looked at by the Premier League outfit.

Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has delivered some good news on the injury front that has left many Ibrox fans buzzing on social networking site Twitter.
The Gers returned to winning ways in the midweek when they won 2-0 against Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers find themselves second in the league table, five points behind Celtic having played a game less.
The Gers will be up against Aberdeen in the Scottish premiership on Saturday, and ahead of the match Gerrard has delivered some positive news.
Gerrard said that James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos are back along with Greg Stewart. Ryan Jack is progressing well, but he will miss the game.

Great news. Polster has done well since he came in but Tav is vital to the way Rangers play. A huge threat going forward. Glad Stewart is back and good news on Jack.

Tav is Superman.

Yes tav is back
— davie m (@masied81) January 31, 2020

Can’t see Tav starting, at best he’ll get a place on the bench IMO. Good news all the same.

Tavernier had undergone surgery this month on an appendix problem. The 28-year-old Rangers skipper is a key player for the club and has been outstanding in the past two seasons.
In 2019-20, Tavernier has scored three goals and provided six assists in the SPL. Rangers have missed him heavily in their recent games, and his return will be a massive boost for the club.

Report: Celtic made loan move for PL midfielder…club responds

Report: Celtic made loan move for PL midfielder…club responds – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to Greg O’Keeffe of The Athletic (transfer live blog), Celtic have made a loan approach to sign Everton’s highly-rated young midfielder Anthony Gordon.
The Bhoys have made two signings this month but Neil Lennon is still looking to bolster his midfield.
The Athletic claim that the Bhoys made a request to sign Gordon on loan for the rest of the season. However, Everton have rejected the move.
The Toffees have ‘turned down a request’ from the Bhoys for the 18-year-old midfielder.

Gordon, who made his Premier League debut in the draw with West Ham earlier this month, has been targeted by several Bundesliga clubs.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon is thought to be a keen admirer of the player, with the Hoops having watched him at several of Everton’s U-23 games last year.
However, Carlo Ancelotti feels that the youngster’s progress will be best served by staying at the club. The Italian boss has insisted that he will hand the youngster further minutes during the rest of the campaign.
Celtic are top of the Scottish Premier League table with 61 points from 23 games, five points ahead of Rangers who have played a game less.

'Deal might stall': Journalist delivers latest update on £60k-per-week West Ham target

'Deal might stall': Journalist delivers latest update on £60k-per-week West Ham target – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to Roshane Thomas of The Athletic, Hull City are concerned that West Ham’s deal for Jarrod Bowen ‘might stall’.
Earlier today, the Athletic journalist, David Ornstein claimed that the Hammers have agreed a £22 million deal to sign the Hull City forward.
Bowen has been in terrific form for the Tigers this season, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists in 29 Championship games this season.
Crystal Palace were reportedly keen to sign him, but Bowen wanted a move to West Ham.

However, the latest reports suggest that the two parties are a fair bit apart on wages. Thomas claims that the ‘deal is likely’ but Bowen is demanding around £60k-per-week wages.
The 23-year-old forward is scheduled to undergo his medical on the deadline day. West Ham have agreed to pay an initial £14 million, and further £8 million would be paid in add-ons.
West Ham are desperately looking to bolster their attacking line-up before the window slams shut, and Bowen would be a superb signing for them.
As it stands, the deal could go through, but Bowen’s wage demand could make it complicated.

Report: Tottenham in talks to sign 31-yr-old with 9 goals and 7 assists this season

Report: Tottenham in talks to sign 31-yr-old with 9 goals and 7 assists this season – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Tottenham are being linked with a move for the Leicester City striker Islam Slimani.
According to Sky Italia (translated by GFFN), they are in talks to sign the player along with Inter Milan and Manchester United.
Slimani is on loan at Monaco right now but he has lost his starting berth and therefore he is keen on leaving the French club halfway through the loan deal.
He wants a move to the Premier League and it will be interesting to see if Spurs manage to sign him before the window closes.
Tottenham need to bring in a striker and Slimani could be a handy option for Mourinho. He has done well in France this season.
The 31-year-old forward has 9 goals and 7 assists to his name this season and he knows the Premier League well. He should be able to adapt quickly if he joins Tottenham.
Harry Kane will return towards the end of this season and Spurs are missing his sharpness in front of the goal. Someone like Slimani could be a decent short-term addition.
Monaco are not against cancelling the loan but they want a fee of around €2.5m.
A team like Tottenham should be able to afford that without any problems.

Report: West Ham are plotting a late bid for 21-yr-old French defender

Report: West Ham are plotting a late bid for 21-yr-old French defender – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham are thought to be keen on the Toulouse defender Kelvin Amian.
As per the information relayed by GFFN, the Hammers could make a deadline day move for the French right back.
West Ham have been linked with a few right-backs this month and their reported interest in Amian is hardly surprising.
Moyes has Zabaleta and Fredericks as his right-back options and it is a position that needs upgrading.
Recently, the Hammers tried to sign Rasmus Kristensen from Salzburg but that deal has fallen through. It will be interesting to see if they submit an offer for Amian.
The 21-year-old is highly rated in France and he could prove to be a good long term addition.
West Ham need to tighten up at the back if they want to beat the drop this season.
The Hammers certainly have the means to pull this off and Moyes should do his best to add a defender before the window closes.
Amian can play as a centre back as well and his versatility will be an added bonus for the Hammers.
He has picked up 2 assists in his 21 games for Toulouse so far this season.

Report: Tottenham and Everton are keen on signing 24-yr-old midfielder

Report: Tottenham and Everton are keen on signing 24-yr-old midfielder – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Tottenham are keen on signing the Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at the end of this season.
According to Sky Sports, the Londoners aren’t the only ones after the midfielder. Everton and Arsenal are keen on him as well.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs make a move for Hojbjerg in summer. He has done well with Southampton and he is ready to join a bigger team.
A move to Spurs would allow him to perform at a higher level and he could play European football as well. Furthermore, he will be working with one of the world’s most successful managers in Jose Mourinho.
Convincing the player to join shouldn’t be too hard for them. Southampton, on the other hand, will look to charge a premium for his services.
Hojbjerg is a key player for them and they will not want to lose him for cheap.
One positive for Spurs is that the player will be a free agent in 2021 and Southampton will be under pressure to cash in on him at the end of this season unless he agrees to a new deal.
Spurs could definitely use a calming presence like him at the heart of their midfield and they should pay up for him.
Hojbjerg could form a long term partnership with Ndombele at Tottenham. Their skill-sets should complement each other on paper.

Report: Fulham join WBA in the race to sign PL midfielder on deadline day

Report: Fulham join WBA in the race to sign PL midfielder on deadline day – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Fulham have been very busy in the January transfer window having signed five players already this month.
The Cottagers are expected to be in the mix for the race to secure promotion to the Premier League, and are doing everything possible to assemble a good squad.
However, it seems they could still sign one more player before Friday’s transfer deadline.
According to Adam Leventhal of The Athletic (transfer live blog), Fulham have made a loan enquiry for Watford midfielder Domingos Quina who could leave the club today.
The 20-year-old defensive midfielder joined Watford from West Ham in 2018. He has been a peripheral figure at Vicarage Road this season, managing only 18 minutes of Premier League football.

With the Hornets doing so well under Nigel Pearson, the young midfielder could be allowed to leave on loan.
According to Steve Madeley of the Athletic, West Brom also made a loan approach for the young midfielder, but their chances of getting him have reduced today.
Although Quina is not completely off the table, Slaven Bilic is particularly not keen on adding another midfielder before the window closes.

'Get it done', 'Would fit well' – Some Villa fans react to links with 25-yr-old attacker

'Get it done', 'Would fit well' – Some Villa fans react to links with 25-yr-old attacker – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Aston Villa are in talks to sign the Hertha BSC striker Davie Selke this month.
As per Bild (translated by Sportwitness), the likes of Brighton, Watford, Bournemouth and Newcastle are also in discussions to sign the player before the window closes.
It will be interesting to see where Selke ends up.
Aston Villa could definitely do with a striker before the window closes and Selke would be a handy option for Dean Smith’s side.
Wesley has been ruled out for the season and Selke would be his natural replacement. Having said that, he will have to fight with Mbwana Samatta for a regular starting berth.
The German striker has fallen out of favour at Hertha and he is keen on a January move as well. He knows that he will get to play more often at another club.
The 25-year-old needs a fresh start. He has failed to score a single goal this season. A move to Villa or Newcastle would allow him to regain his confidence and sharpness.
Newcastle’s summer signing Joelinton has not delivered on the pitch so far and they could use a goalscorer in their starting lineup as well.
Here is how the Villa fans have reacted to the news.

Talent is in there but all depends on price, I reckon he ends up at Brighton.
