Everton are thought to be keen on the Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.
According to Sky Sports News reporter Vinny O’Connor, the Toffees like the player but the likes of Spurs are well ahead of them in the race.
Ake has been linked with Chelsea as well. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
The highly talented Dutchman has shown his quality with the Cherries and he deserves to play for a better team.
A move to Everton could help him improve as a player. Also, a manager like Ancelotti might be able to bring the best out of him.
Everton certainly need to improve their back four and Ake would be a superb signing for them. He is yet to reach his peak but he is already good enough to improve Everton’s defence. Also, his versatility will be an added bonus for the Toffees. He can play as a centre back as well as a left back.
The Toffees will have to move quickly if they want to sign him and they will have to meet Bournemouth’s asking price as well. If the likes of Spurs and Chelsea get involved, Ancelotti will find it difficult to sign the player.
Both the London clubs are more resourceful and they can offer European football to the player. The 24-year-old is likely to be tempted to join either of them instead of Everton.

Reliable journalist confirms Leeds expect to meet with midfield target this week

Reliable journalist confirms Leeds expect to meet with midfield target this week – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds United have been linked with a move for the Manchester City youngster Ian Poveda.
The 19-year-old is highly rated in England and it will be interesting to see if Leeds manage to sign him this month.
As per the reliable Phil Hay, the player has attracted interest from Italian clubs as well but Leeds still expect to meet him later this week.
Leeds United could use some depth in their attacking department and Poveda might prove to be a handy signing. He can play as an attacking midfielder or a winger.
Poveda will add depth to the Leeds side. He might not be ready to make a big difference right now but he could be a great option off the bench.
Furthermore, Marcelo Bielsa will help him develop as a player. The Leeds manager is excellent at developing young players and Poveda will benefit from a spell under him.
The youngster needs to play more often at a higher level and that will not be possible at Manchester City right now. A move away from the club could be ideal for him right now.
He could get more opportunities at Leeds and that will only benefit his career.

Report: West Ham want to sign 29-yr-old this month, bid has been submitted

Report: West Ham want to sign 29-yr-old this month, bid has been submitted – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham are interested in signing the Cardiff keeper Neil Etheridge.
According to Football Insider, the 29-year-old is being looked at as a replacement for the injured Fabianski and the Hammers have already made their move.
As per the report, West Ham have submitted a £7m bid for the player.
West Ham cannot afford to rely on David Martin to play every game for now and they must look to sign someone better.
David Moyes is already under pressure to improve his side’s performances and he will need proper signings.
Etheridge has been linked with a move away from the Welsh club and he could prove to be a good addition to the West Ham side.
It will be interesting to see if West Ham can agree on a deal for Etheridge now. The 29-year-old is thought to have fallen out of favour at Cardiff and he was dropped for the derby game against Swansea.
He did well in the Premier League with Cardiff and he could be the ideal backup for Fabianski.
The Hammers were expected to sign Randolph from the Championship this month but there question marks over his fitness. However, the deal hasn’t completely collapsed yet and the Hammers are still waiting for his medical results.

'The perfect one to go for' – Former star urges Aston Villa to sign 29-yr-old forward

'The perfect one to go for' – Former star urges Aston Villa to sign 29-yr-old forward – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Former Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has urged the club to re-sign Christian Benteke this month.
The Belgian is expected to leave Crystal Palace and Bent believes that the 29-year-old could be the man to solve Dean Smith’s goalscoring problems.
Bent said to talkSPORT on Monday (via HITC): “There is speculation about Benteke and I think that, for me, is the perfect one to go for. I know he’s had a bit of a tough time at Crystal Palace. But I think the Aston Villa fans will get the best out of him, because they absolutely idolised him – he was the best thing ever when he was there. I think if he goes there and he feels that love again, he can start scoring.”
Benteke was a star during his time at Villa but a lot has changed since then. He is not the same player anymore. The Belgian is out of form and he is lacking in confidence right now.
If he manages to regain his confidence and form, he could prove to be a game-changer but right now the transfer would be a gamble.
Benteke has scored just 4 goals for Palace since the start of the 2017/18 season.
Villa have been linked with Eddie Nketiah as well but Bent claims that the Arsenal youngster might not be able to make an immediate impact.
It will be interesting to see who comes in to replace the injured Wesley Moraes.
The Brazilian has been ruled out of the season and Aston Villa must look to bring in a goalscorer if they want to stay in the Premier League next season.
The newly-promoted side are in a precarious position in the table and they cannot afford to take risks right now.

Report: Everton make contact with Spanish club for in-demand central midfielder

Report: Everton make contact with Spanish club for in-demand central midfielder – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton are interested in signing the Elche midfielder Gonzalo Villar.
According to a report from Alicante Plaza (translated by Daily Star), the Toffees have already contacted Elche to inform them of their interest in Villar.
Juventus and Roma are thought to be keen on signing the player as well and Roma have already submitted an offer. The offer is thought to be in the region of £2.5m.
It will be interesting to see where the 21-year-old ends up this month.
It is not certain how much Villar will cost. He has a contract until 2021 with Elche and his release clause is over £20m.
Villar is certainly talented and Ancelotti could help him develop into a quality player for Everton. The Premier League side need to improve their midfield and Villar could prove to be a handy option right now.
Everton have had a poor season so far and Ancelotti will be expected to finish the season strongly. The Italian will need new players in order for that to happen.
Along with Villar, Everton should look to improve their attacking options as well. The likes of Walcott, Bernard and Kean are in poor form right now and the Toffees could do with a quality forward.

Report: Tottenham make contact to sign versatile midfielder who could cost £60m

Report: Tottenham make contact to sign versatile midfielder who could cost £60m – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Tottenham are looking to sign the Flamengo midfielder Gerson this month.
According to a report from O Globo (translated by Daily Star), the Londoners have made contact to find out more about the player’s situation.
It will be interesting to see if Jose Mourinho makes a formal move for the Brazilian now.
Apparently, the player has a £60m release clause and Spurs might have to pay that in full if they want to sign the midfielder.
Gerson is certainly talented but he is unproven at the highest level. It is highly unlikely that someone will pay that kind of money for him right now.
Spurs need to strengthen their midfield but they should look to move on to other targets unless Flamengo lower their demands.
The Premier League side are all set to complete the signing of Gedson Fernandes this month.
Gerson would have been another exciting addition to the side.
The Londoners are likely to lose Christian Eriksen soon and Mourinho seems to have started planning for life without the Tottenham star. Fernandes is an exciting attacking midfielder and Gerson would add creativity to the side as well.
Gerson can play as a central midfielder as well as in the wide positions. He is very impressive with his passing in the final third.
It will be interesting to see if the Londoners can agree on a deal with the Brazilian side this month.

Report: Aston Villa keen on experienced winger who will cost around €10m

Report: Aston Villa keen on experienced winger who will cost around €10m – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Aston Villa are thought to be keen on the Napoli winger Jose Callejon this month.
According to reports from Italy (translated by the Birmingham Mail), the former Real Madrid winger would cost around €10m and Villa’s Sporting Director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has identified him as a target.
The Premier League side are thought to be looking at Fernando Llorente as well.
Aston Villa need to strengthen their attack this month and Callejon would be a superb signing for them. He will add creativity and goals to the side.
With Wesley injured, Villa need a proper number nine right now and Llorente could solve that problem for Dean Smith’s side.
It will be interesting to see if the Premier League side manage to get both the deals done in the coming days.
They have already signed Pepe Reina from AC Milan and Callejon shares the same agent. It could be easier for Villa to complete the transfer if they are willing to meet the asking price.
Llorente will reportedly cost around €2m.
Both signings would improve Aston Villa and Smith should look to get it done. Also, they are experienced players who are likely to make an immediate impact.
Villa are fighting for their survival this season and they cannot afford to take any risks in the transfer market now.

Griffiths posts cryptic tweet as Celtic signs Klimala…then deletes his account

Griffiths posts cryptic tweet as Celtic signs Klimala…then deletes his account – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Celtic have snapped up Polish striker Patryk Klimala for £3.5 million, and he has become the Hoops’ first January signing after putting pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year deal.
The arrival of the 21-year-old means Leigh Griffiths will most likely continue to struggle for playing opportunities, and the 29-year-old could now seek to leave Parkhead this month or in the summer.
The veteran striker has hinted that he is blocking out any noise over his Celtic future, though, posting a GIF on Twitter that shows him putting his finger in his ears.
Griffiths earlier liked a post from BBC journalist Stefan Bienkowski suggesting his Hoops career was nearing an end following Klimala’s arrival.

Interesting signing. Which will surely mean Leigh Griffiths or Vakoun Bayo's days at the club are probably numbered. https://t.co/56LKem2a6E
— Stefan Bienkowski (@SBienkowski) January 14, 2020

Few minutes after his tweet, Griffiths deleted his Twitter account as some Celtic fans were beginning to get at him.

Griffiths’ last goal came against Motherwell at the start of August, and various injury problems and lack of form have largely kept him out of manager Neil Lennon’s plans.
Things could be about to go from bad to worse for the Scotland international, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts apart from deleting his Twitter account.

Report: Agent in London to tie up 'low risk' Spurs deal for £3.8m player

Report: Agent in London to tie up 'low risk' Spurs deal for £3.8m player – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to reports from The Telegraph, super-agent Jorge Mendes is in London to tie up the 18-month loan deal that will bring midfielder Gedson Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old undertook his medical on Tuesday afternoon ahead of his potential move to Spurs. Mendes will attend Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup third-round replay against Middlesbrough this evening, and will be looking to wrap up the deal after that.
The Portugal international will arrive on loan with an option to buy permanently. He will offer Spurs the much-needed depth in midfield which Jose Mourinho is lacking following the injury to Moussa Sissoko.
Spurs will pay a £3.8m loan fee, and Mourinho sees him as a ‘low risk’ option to solve the immediate crisis. Fernandes was also wanted by West Ham United, but he chose Spurs instead.
Fernandes missed the start of the season with a metatarsal injury and has only played seven league games this season. Last season he made 36 appearances in all competitions, but this term has fallen out of favour with Benfica manager Bruno Lage.
With Christian Eriksen likely to leave the club this month, it remains to be seen whether Mourinho signs one or two more players before the window closes. Also, Spurs are looking to sign a striker this month following Harry Kane’s injury that could rule him out for the rest of the season.

Report: Smith keen to sign 14-cap int'l, could face competition from West Ham and Everton

Report: Smith keen to sign 14-cap int'l, could face competition from West Ham and Everton – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to reports from The Daily Mirror, Aston Villa are considering a loan bid for Steven Nzonzi in the January transfer window.
Villa have signed Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea this month but he didn’t get off to the best start at the weekend. It seems Smith is eyeing further reinforcements in the middle of the park.
The report claims that Villa are interested in signing the 14-times capped France international. Roma signed the midfielder for £27 million in 2018, and has spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Galatasaray.

Competition for Nzonzi
Last week Gazzetta dello Sport reported that West Ham United are interested in signing Steven Nzonzi in the January transfer window.
The report claimed that the Hammers could face competition from Everton this month.
As it stands, Villa have joined the race for the midfielder’s signature as well.
While Villa have bigger issues to address before the window closes (signing a striker), signing a midfielder of Nzonzi’s quality on loan would be a superb move.
Both West Ham and Everton need to bolster their midfield this month, and it remains to be seen whether they make any loan move for him.
