'Can’t pass, can’t run, so immobile' – Some Villa fans react to 29-yr-old's display vs Spurs

'Can’t pass, can’t run, so immobile' – Some Villa fans react to 29-yr-old's display vs Spurs – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Aston Villa crashed to a 3-2 defeat at home to Tottenham earlier today.
Dean Smith’s men paid the price for poor defending after a promising start to the game. Son scored a later winner for the visitors.
The defeat leaves Aston Villa at the 17th place with 25 points. They will have to improve a lot if they want to stay in the Premier League beyond this season.
Villa have the quality to be a solid Premier League side but they are inconsistent and fragile at the back.
Jack Grealish seems to be the only player who is performing at a high level consistently for the club. It will be interesting to see if Dean Smith manages to turn it around in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the fans weren’t too impressed with the showing against a vulnerable Tottenham side. Danny Drinkwater’s display was particularly poor.
The former Leicester City player has had a torrid time at Aston Villa so far.
He joined Aston Villa on loan from Chelsea in order to resurrect his career with more game time. But he has failed to make the most of his chances so far.
If he continues to perform at this level, the former Premier League winner might soon find himself back on the bench.
Here is what the Villa fans had to say about the 29-year-old’s showing earlier.

Drinkwater has the touch of Boris Johnson in Soccer Aid. Really can’t believe he’s out there getting paid to play #avfc
— Zoe (@zk16204) February 16, 2020

Don’t care what anyone says, Drinkwater is possibly the worst midfielder I think I’ve seen in a long time, can’t pass, can’t run, so immobile, needs taking off at HT #AVFC

Sky Sports Aston Villa Ratings: Reina (8), Guilbert (6), Konsa (6), Engels (6), Hause (6), Targett (6), Luiz (6), Drinkwater (4), Grealish (8), El Ghazi (7), Samatta (7)
Subs: Nakamba (6), Baston (6)
Agree? #avfc

Under no circumstances, can Drinkwater start again at the expense of Marvelous!!!! Don’t know how Smith can justify that today.

Drinkwater makes Whelan look like Pirlo.

'Another Rafa mistake' – Some NUFC fans react to reports regarding Championship ace

'Another Rafa mistake' – Some NUFC fans react to reports regarding Championship ace – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Former Newcastle United attacker Adam Armstrong is attracting the interest of Premier League clubs following a series of impressive performances in the Championship this season.
The Blackburn attacker has been a key player for Tony Mowbray’s side. He has ten goals and seven assists to his name in the Championship so far.
According to the Chronicle, Armstrong has caught the attention of top-flight scouts. It will be interesting to see if any Premier League club comes in for him at the end of this season.
The 23-year-old was sold by Rafa Benítez £1.75million two years ago.
Blackburn are pushing for the play-off spots this season and Armstrong has been instrumental to their success so far. If he manages to guide them back to the Premier League this summer, Newcastle will probably regret their decision to let him go.
Some of the Newcastle fans aren’t too happy with the situation and they believe that it was a mistake letting him go.
Clearly, Armstrong has the potential to play at a higher level and he might be keen on a step up to the Premier League in future.
He has already proven himself in the Championship and he needs a bigger challenge now.
Here is that the Newcastle fans had to say on Twitter earlier.

Always felt he could be similar to Perez but not given enough opportunity
— SimpleMan (@TheArrogantPrik) February 16, 2020

Blame Rafa for this…kept giving Joselu chances as he was Spanish but Armstrong hardly a sniff. Most fans could see that given a run of games he would come good

more fool the TOON wish we had kept him never given a proper chance currently doing more than our 40million man

'Can’t wait', 'Fantastic news': Some Everton fans react to club's post

'Can’t wait', 'Fantastic news': Some Everton fans react to club's post – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton were not in action during the weekend but the latest update from the club on Twitter have lifted the mood of the Toffees fans.
The club arranged a behind-closed-doors friendly at Finch Farm this afternoon where Andre Gomes took part for the first time since he suffered a horrific injury against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old suffered a fractured dislocation to his ankle while playing against Spurs in November during a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

Gomes has played the full 60 minutes of an 11-a-side match at the club’s training complex, and has made the latest step in his recovery from injury.
The club has confirmed that he will continue to train with the first-team ahead of Everton’s clash against Arsenal next weekend.
Many Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their reaction, and needless to say, they were overjoyed. Here are some of the selected tweets:

Such GLORIOUS NEWS! Was truly afraid after seeing the horror tackle inflicted upon @aftgomes by “He who shall not be blamed” that we wouldn’t see André back on the pitch this season! We’ve got every chance of having before my birthday! What a present! Happy Birthday to me! UTFT!

Fantastic news. Hopefully with no setbacks this week we should see Gomes in the squad for the Arsenal game #EFC https://t.co/KRvX14z7Hi
— Royal Blue Mersey (@RBMersey) February 16, 2020

It was earlier feared that Gomes would miss the rest of the season after a challenge involving Tottenham’s Son Heung-min. The former Barcelona midfielder underwent surgery on his right ankle and his recovery has been much quicker than expected.
Everton find themselves eighth in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Report claims Rangers 'had agreed a January deadline day deal' for 27 y/o PL player

Report claims Rangers 'had agreed a January deadline day deal' for 27 y/o PL player – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Glasgow Rangers had agreed a deal with Burnley to sign Matej Vydra during the January transfer window, according to reports from The Athletic.
The 27-year-old, who scored during Burnley’s 2-1 win over Southampton during the weekend, was close to joining the Ibrox outfit on the transfer deadline day.
The report claims that the Gers had agreed to sign him on loan with an option to buy, provided Sean Dyche was able to bring in a replacement.
The Czech Republic international, who joined the Clarets in 2018 from Derby County, had agreed terms and had spoken to Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

He was very excited to join Rangers and seek new adventures as he wasn’t getting regular games at Turf Moor. However, the deal didn’t materialise.
Dyche insisted that Vydra wasn’t close to leaving the club. The report adds that initial talks also took place last week between Burnley and Lokomotiv Moscow over the transfer of Vydra.
Vydra is a very good player and he didn’t let the transfer window frustration affect him. In fact, he used it as a motivation to impress his boss, and proved a point at St Mary’s on Saturday when he came off the bench and scored the winner.
Rangers will see it as a missed opportunity, while Vydra will be aiming to cement his place in the side following his impressive performance on Saturday.

Journalist claims Everton scouts have watched £24m in-demand defender today – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to transfer expert and journalist Nicolo Schira, Everton are among the host of clubs showing interest in exciting Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla.
He has claimed on Twitter that Everton scouts were in attendance to check out the 20-year-old defender. They watched the youngster in action during Hellas Verona’s Serie A game against Udinese.
Kumbulla is a highly-rated young talent and several clubs including Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Napoli are ‘really interested’ in signing him this summer.

Scouts of #Inter (are looking also Juan #Musso), #BorussiaDortmund and #Everton are at Dacia Arena to observe Marash #Kumbulla (2000) during Udinese-Verona. #Verona ask €30M. Also #Napoli are really interested in him for summer. #transfers #BVB #EFC
— Nicolò Schira (@NicoSchira) February 16, 2020

After coming through the youth ranks at the club, the youngster made his senior debut at the Serie A club on August, 2018.
This season he has cemented his position in the side, having made 18 starts in the league already. He has one cap for his country Albania as well.

Schira claims that Verona won’t sell him on cheap and would demand in the region of £24m (€30M) for the young defender.
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti could be looking to bolster his defence during the summer transfer window, and Kumbulla could be an exciting signing for them.
He is young and inexperienced, but extremely talented. However, whether any interested party would be willing to meet Verona’s asking price remains to be seen.

Burnley earned an important 2-1 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Matej Vydra scored a superb goal to earn all three points for the Clarets in a weather-affected game at Southampton.
Burnley have posted a video of Vydra who shared his reaction after the match. The 27-year-old, who joined Burnley in 2018 from Derby County, was pleased that he has helped his side pick up all three points.

Many Clarets fans responded to the club’s official Twitter post and praised Vydra heavily for his contribution. Here are some of the selected tweets:

This is what happens when people get a chance to show their talent. shame it's took so long..
— Burnleypunk QC (@BurnleyPunk) February 15, 2020

So chuffed for him. That smile shows what it means. Hopefully a turning point for him.

— EmWills (@emluwa) February 15, 2020

So happy for the lad. Kept plugging away when he's obviously been over looked but came on and showed his quality with that goal yesteday. Fair play to him, I hope he starts the next game because his all round game was good yesterday as well as the goal
— Andy Murray (@andymurray8472) February 16, 2020

— James Whitaker (@JamesWhitaker78) February 15, 2020

Class goal from Vydra
— Ian Roberts (@decroblee) February 16, 2020

This lad is a top player…just hope he gets the chance to prove me right over the next few weeks…UTC
— Simon Brooks (@SimonBrooks51) February 15, 2020

Vydra is yet to start in the Premiership this season, and has only managed seven appearances from the bench. However, his latest display surely will give confidence to his manager Sean Dyche and hopefully he will get regular games from here on.
Burnley took a surprising lead with Ashley Westwood scoring direct from a corner after 93 seconds. Danny Ings restored parity and scored his 18th goal of the season.
However, Vydra’s stunning left-foot effort made all the difference as the Clarets now have jumped up to 10th, five points behind Sheffield United in fifth.

Blackburn Rovers earned a 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic at the Valley on Saturday.
After the game, Rovers star Dominic Samuel took to social networking site Twitter to express his reaction. He has hailed the Rovers fans as ‘class’.
Many Rovers fans have quickly responded to his tweet to let him know that he was ‘immense’ during the game. Here are some of the selected tweets:

Well done Dom! Great to see you back after the hell you went through. Mark of a warrior
— Mr Nobody (@jongardner1979) February 15, 2020

You Sir were immense! Loved the passion, energy just needed a goal. Keeping chipping away Big Dom!

One of the best all round striker performances i have seen in a while you just needed that goal! Keep going my man!
— Thomas Martin (@Tom_martin18) February 16, 2020

It was a crucial victory for Rovers and they edge closer to the play-off spots. They are three points off a top-six place.
Two goals within 8 minutes in the first half earned all three points for Tony Mowbray’s side who are now 8th in the table with 50 points on board.

Exciting youngster John Buckley opened the scoring with a deflected effort for Rovers in the 29th minute, and Tosin Adarabiyo doubled the lead before the break.
While Charlton improved after the break, Blackburn was equal to the task with keeper Christian Walton saving from Lyle Taylor and Josh Cullen.
Samuel, who has just returned from a bad injury, was brilliant once again. He attempted two shots, and made one key pass during the game.

Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-0 against Reading in the Championship on Saturday at Hillsborough.
The Owls have now gone six league matches without a win and find themselves 12th in the league table.
Garry Monk, the Owls boss, has said after the game that his team needs ‘strong character’ to come out of the mess they are in.
Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to express their reaction after Monk’s comment was posted on the club’s official Twitter page.

Monk is one of the problems, he needs to tell us why he isn't picking Westwood or Hutchinson. Dawson isnt good enough yet and starting Nuhiu is laughable!
— Simonb1471 (@YaBoySiB) February 15, 2020

It’s the players who want outing !!There not puttin the work rate in, they should burst with pride to pull that shirt on and give all they have for the fans who pay there wages. If they don’t want to be here sack them and withhold there registration paper’s until we sell them
— Ron Hill (@RonHill01418952) February 16, 2020

We need a strong manager. If he’s not good for Birmingham City or Boro then he’s not good enough for a club like ours and it’s really showing!
— RocketOwl (@RocketOwl1986) February 15, 2020

It's a case of deadwood out. Out of contract no shows out. Around 15 new players in and a complete rebuild. Even if it means a shit few years to do. We cant rely on what's left of our top 6 squad of 2015/6. Its painful and weve a long painful way to go again.
— Carl RS (@DarkGreenMonkey) February 15, 2020

Yur out of yur depth Monk and you haven’t got a fur kin clue. Yuv been brought here to take us down instead of EFL deducting points from us. How else can our fans explain this nosedive. We don’t hav fighters in our team to get us out of the slump with the teams yu r picking
— Eddie Staniland (@49Eddie) February 15, 2020

Same old meaninglessness words and philosophical terms being regurgitated. Get to specifics and tell us what’s really going on, stop coming out with this vague crap because it’s insulting.
— Thom Kay (@LoveRocket84) February 15, 2020

Monk out Sam Allardyce in with Megson his number 2 and Bully still coaching! He's lost the players taking them from promotion hopefuls to relegation fodder and it's all their fault not his? Not having it sorry.

Ovie Ejaria teed up Yakou Meite to open the scoring for the visitors in the 21st minute.
The second half started in the worst possible manner for the home side as Wednesday’s teenage defender Osaze Urhoghide was sent off for second bookable offence.
George Puscas doubled the lead in the 72nd minute, and Sam Baldock wrapped up the win with a penalty in the final minute of the game.
It was Reading’s first league victory since New Year’s Day. They move up to 15th in the Championship table.

Report: 22-yr-old Celtic star is on Euro giants' summer transfer wishlist

Report: 22-yr-old Celtic star is on Euro giants' summer transfer wishlist – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is being scouted by Premier League giants Manchester United.
According to Daily Mail, the Old Trafford giants are looking to bring in a striker at the end of this season and they are keeping an eye on Edouard.
The 22-year-old has been in sensational form for Celtic this season and he is scoring for fun right now (24 goals in 37 games). He has bagged 11 goals in six appearances for the France U21 side as well.
Edouard has the potential to play for a top club and he would certainly be an interesting signing for Manchester United. The Red Devils could do with a complete forward like him.
Solskjaer is reliant on Rashford for goals right now and Edouard could be a superb alternative.
Manchester United have Mason Greenwood at their disposal but the youngster is still developing and he is not ready to lead the attack every week.
If Manchester United come in with an offer at the end of the season, Celtic will find it difficult to hold on to their star striker.
Edouard might be tempted to make the move as well.
Manchester United are a huge club and the Premier League is a massive step up. Any player would find it hard to turn down such an opportunity.
Furthermore, the Red Devils have the financial muscle to pull off the transfer as well.

'He could play at any level' – Former Hoops ace drools over 26-yr-old Celtic player

'He could play at any level' – Former Hoops ace drools over 26-yr-old Celtic player – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Former Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley has lavished praise on Callum McGregor.
The Celtic star has been in good form in the recent weeks and Hartley claims that McGregor is a complete midfielder who can create, score and control games.
Hartley also added that McGregor is a team player and he is a big reason why Celtic are in top form right now.
He said to BBC: “He could play at any level. He’s a fantastic team player and has just been so consistent. He looks like he has a good temperament and character about him. I don’t think he’s a social media person either, he just looks like he wants to play football all the time. He’s a top midfielder who can do everything – score, sit, create, great pace. He’s a really intelligent footballer and one I always like watching. Celtic have been so strong since they came back from the winter break. It looks like the defeat to Rangers was the best thing that could have happened to them. They are playing with a real purpose and intensity, and McGregor is a massive part of that.”
The Hoops are in red hot form and they look destined to reclaim their league title once again.
Rangers cannot be written off just yet but the gap is up to 13 points and the Ibrox giants will struggle to bridge that. It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, McGregor will be delighted to hear these comments from former Celtic players and he will be looking to work harder and improve as a player.
He is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership right now and Neil Lennon will be hoping that the 26-year-old can carry on his scintillating form and guide the team to silverware at the end of the season.
