Jan target made call to Celtic and Rangers over transfer update…final decision in the next 24 hrs

Jan target made call to Celtic and Rangers over transfer update…final decision in the next 24 hrs – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Glasgow Rangers and Celtic have suffered a big blow in their race to sign Tyrese Campbell.
The transfer news will come as a big disappointment for both sets of fans as there were serious interest in the youngster’s signature this month.
The Ibrox club have been heavily linked with a move for the England under-20 international this month.
The 20-year-old’s representatives had held pre-contract talks with both Celtic and Rangers. Both the clubs could have signed him for as little as £400,000 in cross-border compensation in the summer.
However, according to the Daily Record, Campbell has personally made calls to both Rangers and Celtic to let them know that he wants to remain south of the border with Stoke City.
He has taken this unusual step out of respect for the two Scottish clubs.
Celtic made the first move for Campbell, although Neil Lennon played down links last week.

However, Celtic’s head of football operations Nicky Hammond was hopeful that a deal could be pulled off.
Rangers also joined the race and gave the youngster something to think about. Still, it wasn’t enough to get a deal done.
The youngster is also wanted by Premier League outfit Sheffield United but Stoke City are keen to keep him at the club.
It has been reported that Campbell is yet to make his final decision. He is likely to confirm his final decision within the next 24 hours.
Campbell made his senior debut for Stoke City in 2018 and has scored seven goals in 32 matches for the club.

The exciting young forward was initially struggling for games and looked set to leave Stoke.
However, he has become a regular again under new Stoke boss Michael O’Neill.
Campbell has scored five goals this season in 18 games. He suffered a hamstring injury earlier this week.
Both Celtic and Rangers will be looking to add players this month, but it seems they will have to strike Campbell off their wish-list.

Report: Moyes has just come up with a smart transfer target…but there's a catch

Report: Moyes has just come up with a smart transfer target…but there's a catch – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Glasgow Rangers defender Connor Goldson.
The Gers defender has been in superb form this season, and the latest West Ham transfer news will surely excite the fans.
David Moyes has insisted this week that he is looking to bolster the squad, and at the same time admitted that the Hammers may struggle to land any player this month.
The Hammers find themselves 17th in the table, sharing same points with other relegation contenders.
They are only separated by a better goal difference.
With West Ham conceding 38 goals already in the Premier League, it seems Moyes has prioritised bolstering the defence.
According to reports from Football Insider, West Ham are considering Goldson as an option as they eye a potential summer deal.
West Ham feel that they need a centre-back in the summer, amid doubts over the futures of Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna.

Smart signing but there’s a catch
The 27-year-old joined the Ibrox club from Brighton 18 months ago for a reported fee of £3 million.
He has established himself as a key player for Steven Gerrard’s side, and is now valued at more than £6 million.
Rangers certainly won’t entertain any offers for him this month as he is vital in their quest to land the Scottish Premiership title.
Nevertheless, he would be a smart signing for the Hammers if they can secure a deal for him.
Goldson, who has two-and-a-half years remaining on his Ibrox contract, has reignited his career at Rangers, and would be a good addition to the side.

Having said that, he is a potential target for the summer. West Ham need players now.
The focus should on how the squad can be developed this month with only a few days left for the window to slam shut.
It remains to be seen whether the Hammers make any move for Goldson this month, although Rangers are likely to reject any offers for their star defender.

Report: Everton 'very close' to securing deal for £25m int'l

Report: Everton 'very close' to securing deal for £25m int'l – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton have been boosted to secure their first signing in January after the Everton Soares transfer saga has taken a positive spin in favour of the Toffees.
The Toffees have been following the Brazilian forward closely for a long time, with ESPN reporting earlier this month that Carlo Ancelotti had spoken to the player himself.
Now the Daily Star are reporting (h/t Zero Hora) that Everton are close to sealing the signing of Soares.
The report claims that the agent of the Gremio attacker, Gilmar Veloz, is set to fly to Liverpool to hold talks with Everton, and that the deal is “very close” to being completed.

Everton have been in touch with the Brazilian club over a move for the forward with Carlo Ancelotti eyeing a £30 million deal.
Newcastle United were also linked with a move for Soares who has scored 13 goals this season already.
However, Everton look more likely to secure his signature.
Excellent signing for Everton
The 23-year-old would be a superb signing for Everton if they can pull off the deal.
He has been one of the consistent performers for Gremio in the Brazilian top flight in recent years, and had caught the attention of Manchester City and Arsenal in the past.
Soares impressed during the Copa America this summer, and finished the tournament as joint top scorer with three goals.

It seems he is looking to test himself at a competitive league and Everton are looking to provide him with that platform.
The Brazilian club are looking for around £25million for the attacker, and it should not be a problem for Everton to thrash a deal for him.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has impressed under Ancelotti, but Everton still need depth in that area.
Moise Kean has struggled to settle in, and Ancelotti cannot afford to take further risks in the second half of the season.

Everton and Man Utd keen on 26-yr-old, club ready to sell for €30-40m

Everton and Man Utd keen on 26-yr-old, club ready to sell for €30-40m – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton are keen on signing Emre Can on loan this month.
The Juventus midfielder has fallen out of favour at the Italian club and he needs to move in order to play more often.
According to Tuttosport (translated by Sportwitness), the midfielder is wanted by Dortmund and Manchester United as well.
Juventus are prepared to sell the player this month for a fee of around €30-40m. It will be interesting to see if his suitors are willing to meet that asking price.
Can was signed on a free transfer from Liverpool and he has failed to hold down a regular starting berth at Juventus. It seems unlikely that the reported asking price will be met.
A loan move would be ideal for all parties. If Can manages to impress at another club, his suitors might be more willing to pay up for him in the summer.
If Everton manage to sign him, it would be some coup for them. The German international was a good player for Liverpool during his time in England and he would improve Ancelotti’s midfield.
Emre Can is naturally a box-to-box midfielder who will add drive and technical ability to the side. He can also operate as the defensive midfielder or a makeshift centre back.
Everton must do everything in their power to land the 26-year-old this month.

Report confirms West Ham's bid for highly rated 21-yr-old

Report confirms West Ham's bid for highly rated 21-yr-old – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham are interested in signing the Sampdoria player Ronaldo Vieira.
According to SportMediaset, West Ham submitted an offer for the 21-year-old but the offer has been turned down.
As per the report, West Ham’s offer was around €14m. Apparently, the Italian club does not wish to sell the youngster this month.
It will be interesting to see if the Hammers return with an improved offer anytime soon.
Vieira is highly rated in Italy and it is not surprising to see the Premier League clubs interested in him. Furthermore, he showed glimpses of his ability during his time at Leeds United as well.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder will add depth and quality to West Ham’s midfield. Although he plays in a similar role to that of Declan Rice, he could prove to be very useful for the Hammers, especially in the long run.
West Ham have looked poor at the back quite often this season and using two defensive midfielders will help them tighten up at the back.
Furthermore, it would allow the likes of Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Fornals and Antonio to play with more creative freedom.
It will be interesting to see if the Hammers can get the deal done this month. They certainly have the financial resources to tempt Sampdoria.

Report: Wolves secure €25m agreement for six goal midfielder

Report: Wolves secure €25m agreement for six goal midfielder – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Wolves are all set to wrap up the signing of Daniel Podence if reports are to be believed.
As per O Jogo (report translated by Sportwitness), the Premier League side have agreed on a fee of around €20m for the player.
Wolves will pay a further sum of €5m in performance-related bonuses.
Podence has done well for Olympiacos and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the Premier League now.
Nuno could certainly use some creativity in his midfield and Podence should prove quite handy.
Wolves have some good attackers in Jota and Jimenez but they are heavily reliant on Adama Traore for creativity. Podence could share some of that creative burden for the remainder of this season.
The 24-year-old has scored six goals for Olympiacos this season.
The winger is represented by Jorge Mendes and it is believed that the Portuguese super-agent played a key role in the transfer. He has a good working relationship with Wolves and he has helped the Premier League outfit sign players in the past as well.
Wolves have been impressive this season and if someone like Podence manages to hit the ground running, he could take them to the next level.
They will be looking to secure European football for next season and they could use some transfer boost right now.

Sky Sports journalist says Newcastle have sealed move for 23y/o winger, medical tomorrow

Sky Sports journalist says Newcastle have sealed move for 23y/o winger, medical tomorrow – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Serie A giants Inter Milan over a loan move for Valentino Lazaro.
The winger is set to arrive on Tyneside for his medicals tomorrow, and there is an option to make the move permanent for £20 million in the summer.

BREAKING: Newcastle have reached agreement with Inter Milan over a loan for Valentino Lazaro. The winger will fly to Tyneside and undergo his medical tomorrow. We’re told there’s a £20m option to make permanent in the summer #NUFC
— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) January 23, 2020

The 23-year-old joined Inter from Bundesliga side Hertha BSC in the summer, but has struggled for regular playing time, making just 11 appearances in all competitions for the Italian side, of which only three were starts.
Magpies boss Steve Bruce will hope Lazaro can hit the ground running at Saint James’ Park and have a similar effect on his attack like French winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
The Austrian international is a versatile player who can play every position on the right flank; from right-back to right wing-back and further upfront as a right winger.
Lazaro has averaged 1.2 clearances per game in the Serie A this season and is a fine crosser of the ball, averaging 1.5 key passes per game in the league thus far.
Newcastle signed Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb from Schalke 04 on loan till the end of the season, and it appears they have now pipped RB Leipzig to their second signing of the January transfer window.

Slaven Bilic shares the Rush Green warning he constantly gave Karren Brady

Slaven Bilic shares the Rush Green warning he constantly gave Karren Brady – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Many West Ham United fans understood exactly what Arsene Wenger meant when he said Arsenal left their soul at Highbury.
The Emirates Stadium has been the Gunners’ home for a while now, but the Frenchman believes their old stomping ground had the better atmosphere.
West Ham faithful miss Upton Park, and moving to the London Stadium hasn’t helped improve the club’s fortunes on the pitch.
The Hammers also left Chadwell Heath a couple of years ago for a new training ground.

Rush Green has been constantly ridiculed by supporters, but there has been some major upgrades of recent.

Former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has revealed that he constantly told vice-president Karren Brady not to make Rush Green look like a five-star hotel, though.
“It’s not an excuse but if you ask me what was it better to play at Upton Park or not then there’s no discussion. It was more home, it was more hostile. Not one opposition player enjoyed it when they had to go to Upton Park! That’s a fact,” the former West Ham boss told The Telegraph.
“The Olympic Stadium is very different for an away team. You enjoy it more. It’s not that you were afraid for your life at Upton Park, but everything was there!
“To be fair, I prefer this. This being West Brom. This office. This training ground. The stadium. I love the smell of grass. I was very much involved in with Rush Green with Karren Brady and I was always saying: ‘Don’t make it a five-star hotel. This is a training ground’.”
While West Ham have since invested in Rush Green, it still isn’t up to the standard of most Premier League training grounds, and the current board don’t seem to be getting anything right.

BBC journalist claims Everton star's Three Lions career is looking to be over

BBC journalist claims Everton star's Three Lions career is looking to be over – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton centre-back Michael Keane is no longer a regular starter at Goodison Park, with the duo of Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina now boss Carlo Ancelotti’s favourite defensive pairing.
Keane has played just once this year, sitting out of the other four games, and that could deal a blow on his Euros 2020 chances.
The 27-year-old featured for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions during the qualifiers against Czech Republic last October, but he didn’t make the squad that faced Montenegro and Kosovo in November after being singled out for criticism following the 2-1 defeat against Czech, and BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty doesn’t believe he will be going to the European Championships.
“I suspect England will start Euro 2020 with Harry Maguire and Joe Gomez as their central defensive partnership unless Gareth Southgate decides on a change of formation,” he said during a Q&A session on the website.
“Maguire, although he has been made Manchester United captain, has not really shone at Old Trafford and I always feel he is suspect against high-class opposition but with John Stones struggling and Michael Keane’s international career looking to be over, there is a real shortage of quality options.

“Gomez has been outstanding for Liverpool since getting his place back when Joel Matip was injured and has always looked a natural fit on the England stage. He is a class act.”
Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings and Stones are also ahead of Keane in the pecking order at the moment, and he will have to outshine every other English centre-back to have a chance of going to the Euros and holding on to his Three Lions career going forward.
The Everton star has blown hot and cold since moving to Goodison Park in the summer of 2017 on a five-year contract for an initial fee of £25 million that could rise to £30 million, and it will interesting to see if he will be able to add to his 10 England caps.

'Has to be surely, Go get Bowen!': Some Leeds fans react to latest transfer update

'Has to be surely, Go get Bowen!': Some Leeds fans react to latest transfer update – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds United have suffered a massive setback in their attempt to sign Che Adams after their third bid for the striker was rejected by Southampton, according to reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The report claims that Leeds had offered a substantial loan fee, and a £20m summer payment if the promotion was secured. However, it was turned down by the Saints.
Ralph Hasenhuttl has reiterated that Adams remains an important member of the squad, and that he won’t be sold in the January window. The 23-year-old started in eight Premier League games, and made further 10 appearances from the bench this season, and is yet to score.

Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to express their reaction, and many of them feel that it is time for Marcelo Bielsa to look for options elsewhere.

I don’t understand how that offer don’t get accepted move on now we got 6 days before we go against Millwall and with the way bamfords playing kiko is more of a goal scorer than him but #believe #MOT
— david bird (@birdyleeds) January 23, 2020

Pretty clear to those with a brain the deal needs to be NOT optional. I’d say this is more PR. Get ready for the unknown cheap option announced at 11pm 31st January.
You’re moist welcome
— (((Mark Hoff Hansard))) (@drasnah) January 22, 2020

Move on, or it will be another big failure, don’t think he’s a 20m player either
— James hodgson (@jimmythejimboho) January 22, 2020

If #lufc were smart, they would go after Dinamo Zagreb’s Bruno Petkovic.. Dinamo would be happy to get 3m until the summer and then 20 afterwards, don’t need him before CL qualis and is much better than Che Adams/Andre Gray/whomever anyway
— Nikola (@grabovac9) January 22, 2020

He’s definitely the player we need but they seem adamant that he’s not leaving despite our more than generous offer. How much longer do we pursue this one? Look what happened last Jan when we waited until the last minute and ended up losing out. A day or 2 more maybe then move on
— Iain Groundwell (@Hauxley1) January 22, 2020

If there willing to pay that go get bowen and freeman
— boogie (@bielsa1235) January 22, 2020

That’s it then. No point in holding out for this one any longer. know argument about if get promotion will be worth it but have to draw line somewhere. Let Southampton know that is final offer & can still do deal if they change their minds but that may not be the case soon. #lufc
— Watt The (@WattThe2) January 22, 2020

Walk away. He’s good but not so good we should blow £20m+ at the end of a promotion season. There are better options with prem cash. He’s not the only player that could make a difference right now.
— Leo1919 (@Leo19192) January 22, 2020

Move on. Should really have drawn a line in the sand ages ago, given their manager has been quite clear from the beginning that he has no interest in allowing him to leave the club.
— Mark Hollings (@markydh) January 22, 2020

Move on. I’d love Adams at Leeds but this offer is over and above what he we should be paying. Good effort by #LUFC but call a spade and spade and move onto other targets now
— Matt (@Idlematt) January 22, 2020

20 mil for one good season? Go get Bowen!
— paulnolan (@paulnol41894162) January 22, 2020

Has to be surely.. bid 5mil more than they paid, plus a loan payment and still turned down? Can’t go higher than that really can we
— Ashley Johnson (@AshJohnson20) January 22, 2020

Adams scored 22 goals for Birmingham City in the Championship last season. With Southampton refusing to offload their striker, Leeds should look for other options.
It has been reported that Watford striker Andre Gray has been targeted, while Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths is also on the club’s radar.
