Tottenham are interested in signing the Ajax midfielder, Frenkie de Jong.
According to Daily Express, the London club are prepared to spend big on the player and they have already contacted de Jong’s agent.
The midfielder has been a target for French champions PSG as well and Spurs have informed his agent, Ali Dursun, that they will match PSG’s offer for the 21-year-old Dutch international.
It seems that Mauricio Pochettino is quite determined to land the deep-lying playmaker. He is set to lose Mousa Dembele this month and de Jong would be a fantastic replacement.
The Ajax midfielder is a world-class talent and he would improve Tottenham a lot. Alongside Eriksen and Winks, he could form one of the best triumvirates in the country.
The report from Express adds that Ajax are ready to sell their prized asset to the highest bidder. It seems that Daniel Levy will have to break Tottenham’s transfer record in order to land the player.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer. A move in January seems highly unlikely as Ajax are still fighting for trophies in various competitions and they might not want to weaken the squad now.
PSG are one of the financial heavyweights in European football right now and beating them to de Jong would be quite a remarkable coup for Spurs and Levy if they manage to pull it off.

Everton are keen on signing the highly rated Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Lyon for a while now and the likes of Manchester City are interested in him as well.
According to Daily Star, Lyon are looking for a fee in the region of £75m for their star midfielder.
Everton will have to shatter their transfer record to sign the box-to-box midfielder.
The report adds that French outfit PSG are keen on signing Idrissa Gueye this month and the Toffees are demanding a fee of around £40m for the 29-year-old defensive midfielder.
If the sale goes through it might just help finance a move for Ndombele.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming days.
Ndombele is a player in demand and Pep Guardiola is very interested in him. The Manchester City manager is eyeing him as a replacement for Fernandinho.
The Lyon star is a world-class talent and he would transform Everton if Silva manages to sign him.
Moshiri has the money to finance an ambitious move for the midfielder but the Toffees must look to offload Gueye first.

Opinion: Everton ace keen on temp exit and he would be a fantastic signing for Leeds

Opinion: Everton ace keen on temp exit and he would be a fantastic signing for Leeds – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Everton midfielder Beni Baningime is keen to leave the club on loan during the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old is one of the brightest young talents to have come out of the Everton academy. He made eight Premier League appearances last season, but this season he didn’t get the chance.
His progress in the side has been blocked by the form of Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gueye. And he needs regular game time at the moment, and the Mail now reports that Baningime is keen to go out on loan.
Leeds United should look to sign him on loan in January. While signing a defensive midfielder is not an immediate priority, Marcelo Bielsa could add someone in the rank to add depth in that position.
Kalvin Phillips has been ever present for Leeds this season, and by bringing another player of a similar ilk Leeds can add significant quality to the side.
For a side that are chasing automatic promotion, having squad depth is a must. Bielsa harped on his idea that he would only sign players who would improve the current squad, and certainly Baningime fits the bill.

Opinion: Now is the right time for Spurs to move for £53m int'l in scintillating form

Tottenham Hotspur are anxiously hoping that Harry Kane has not suffered a serious injury. The Spurs talisman suffered an ankle injury in the final stages of Sunday’s 1-0 defeat against Manchester United and will be scanned once his swelling goes down.
The England captain has sustained an ankle injury for the third successive season, and it will be a massive blow for the club if he is out for a long period of time.
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Vincent Janssen doesn’t feature in his plans. Fernando Llorente has been linked with a move back to Spain, and with Son Heung-min now having left the club to participate in Asia Cup, Spurs could be forced to delve into the market to sign a top class attacker.
With that in mind, now is the perfect time for Spurs to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old forward has been enjoying a prolific campaign this season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in Bundesliga this season.
According to reports from German publication Bild, Spurs are monitoring Werner, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side could have one of the best strike-forces in the league, should he join the club.
He is a versatile player, capable of playing on the left-flank, as an attacking central midfielder, as a second striker or a lone forward upfront. With Werner in the side, Tottenham would be a huge threat.
The 22-year-old would reportedly command a fee in the region of £53.8 million, but given the situation, this could be a season defining signing for Spurs.

Report: West Ham star has played last game with £35m exit to be secured this week – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to The Sun, West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic is off to Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG in the coming days, after the London club were finally convinced to cash in on the Austrian following a significantly upped bid worth more than £35million.
The 29-year-old waved what seemed goodbye to the fans after he was withdrawn during weekend’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal, and a deal looks closer ever than before as he appears to have now played his last game for the Hammers from the look of things.
The former Stoke City man has seven goals and two assists in 17 league appearances for West Ham this season.
Arnautovic arrived the London Stadium from the Potters for £20million last summer and immediately established himself as a key player, finishing the campaign with 11 league goals in 31 appearances.
With his imminent exit, manager Manuel Pellegrini has to bring in a replacement capable of delivering the goals as soon as possible, and that search could prove to be a huge challenge with just some 16 days left before the January transfer window shuts.

Not seen much of this lad but heard good things, I’m sure whoever we bring in Bielsa will improve them, helps that he’s so young too.
— Jacob Wadsworth (@JacobWadsworth6) January 14, 2019

Very very good young player will benefit massively from working with Bielsa – him and Clarke on either wings would tear it up 👏

I’ll rate the signing if it happens. Let’s be honest, It’ll be cover for Hernandez. Young, bags of potential and managed by Bielsa and tutored by Pablo will only make him a better player. Sign him up! #lufc

Report: Euro club set to 'try again' to sign key Celtic player

Report: Euro club set to 'try again' to sign key Celtic player – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to reports from Portugal, Porto could be looking to make a move to sign Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham during the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old was a reported target of Porto during the summer transfer window, and the European giants are set to ‘try again’ to lure him away from Celtic Park.
The French midfielder signed a new four-year deal in November after an initial £4million move in 2017.
According to O Jogo, Porto are looking to add a few midfielders, and Ntcham remains on the wishlist.
Celtic are under no pressure to sell him, while Porto have not made an approach to sign him. In case they do, Celtic would demand a hefty transfer fee for the former Manchester City player.
Porto are ready to wait till the summer to make a concrete approach, should a move in January fail to materialise.
In recent weeks, Ntcham’s form has dipped alarmingly, but he remains a key player for Brendan Rodgers. Unless Porto come up with a tempting offer, Celtic are under no pressure to offload him.

Club manager confirms 22-year-old has 'decided' to join Celtic this month

Club manager confirms 22-year-old has 'decided' to join Celtic this month – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Chicago Fire defender Andrew Gutman has agreed to join Celtic this month.
The club’s general manager Nelson Rodriguez has confirmed the move to Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old was offered a new deal at the MLS club but he is keen on playing for Brendan Rodgers’ side. Gutman has chosen to turn down Chicago Fire’s offer.
Rodriguez said: “Andrew was offered a contract but chose not to accept it. Instead he decided to go with the offer from Celtic, so good luck to him.”
Gutman had a trial with Rangers earlier this season but Celtic have moved swiftly to secure his services.
Celtic have already signed the likes of Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah in January and Andrew Gutman will be their third winter signing.
It will be interesting to see if the young defender manages to adapt to the Scottish League soon. This will be a big step up from the MLS and Gutman might need some time.
Celtic already have the likes of Kieran Tierney and Izaguirre at their disposal and therefore there is no pressure for their new signing. Gutman will be treated as a long term prospect and the fans might have to wait to see their new signing in action.

Report: PL club eye move for in-form Leeds attacker

Report: PL club eye move for in-form Leeds attacker – originally posted on Sportslens.com

According to reports from Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Premier League outfit Southampton are considering a move to sign Leeds United wonderkid Jack Clarke in the January window.
The 18-year-old made his senior debut for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa, when he made a substitute against Brentford back in October.
He has impressed every time he took the pitch, and has now clocked up 13 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire club. Clarke started in Leeds’ last two matches, and made a big impression.
Premier League champions Manchester City have registered an interest in the player, and now Southampton have joined the race for the youngster’s signature.
The Saints want to lure him to the Premier League this month, but Leeds are under no pressure to sell him at all. He has a contract at the club till 2021, and he is rapidly progressing under a great manager.
Furthermore, Leeds are top of the Championship table, and are fighting for automatic promotion this season. Chances are high that Clarke could play in the Premier League next season.

Gerrard hints January signing could signal a tactical change for Rangers

Gerrard hints January signing could signal a tactical change for Rangers – originally posted on Sportslens.com

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has hinted that Jermain Defoe’s arrival could signal a tactical change at the club.
The Ibrox outfit could go with two strikers upfront from now on.
Gerrard said: “It’s so exciting to have the options because we haven’t really had that. We’ve only really had one or two ways of playing and we’ve tended to stick with that. When we use Jermain, if we use him with another forward, everyone else will maybe have to adapt and evolve”.
Morelos has been the one leading the line for Rangers more often this season and Defoe is likely to partner him in attack.
The former England international is a proven goalscorer and he will share the goalscoring burden with Morelos.
Rangers have struggled to break down deep defences at times this season and Defoe will help in that regard.
It will be interesting to see if he can adapt to the Scottish League quickly now. Defoe has not played a lot of football this season and he will need to regain his match fitness and sharpness.
If he manages to make an instant impact, Rangers could give Celtic a run for their money. The Ibrox outfit are firmly in the title race and they will be hoping to go all the way.
