Opinion: Everton will strike gold if Ancelotti can sign £30m int'l from his former club

Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival at Everton has seen a dramatic turn of form in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The 22-year-old has found a new lease of life under the Italian boss, and has been amongst goals.
However, with Moise Kean failing to make an impact so far, Everton boss is probably looking to delve into the transfer market to sign a striker this month.
Cenk Tosun has joined Crystal Palace on loan, and it leaves Ancelotti short of options up front. Possibly that is why he is looking to sign a striker and has earmarked Krzysztof Piatek as a potential option.
The Polish international has struggled to make an impact at AC Milan and has been linked with a move away from the club. Piatek has scored four goals in 14 Serie A starts this season, and he could be allowed to leave the club.
Milan are demanding a fee in the region of £30 million for the striker who is also reportedly wanted by a host of clubs including Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
However, Everton have an advantage here. Ancelotti is a legend at Milan, and he can use his influence and brand image to lure Piatek ahead of other rivals.
The 24-year-old scored 34 goals in all competitions last season. Given his age, he will always have a resale value, and it won’t be a transfer gamble. Most importantly, if he can rediscover his form under Ancelotti, Everton can expect to finish the season on a high note.

Calvert-Lewin has a message for Everton fans following last night's disappointment

Calvert-Lewin has a message for Everton fans following last night's disappointment – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton were held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United at Goodison Park last night. The Toffees had raced into the lead through Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and were still two goals up until the 93rd minute. However, an injury-time brace from Newcastle defender Florian Lejeune dealt a massive blow on Everton, ensuring the visitors left with a point. Kean finally opened his account for the club, while Calvert-Lewin grabbed his 10th Premier League goal of the campaign, but the youngsters were left heartbroken with the result, and the English forward has sent a message to the Everton fans on Twitter:

What happened last night can’t and shouldn’t happen after dominating the game like that, so apologise to the fans!! We take the positives and move, happy to be in double figures for the season #UTFT #DCL9 https://t.co/w8c9QwW1gp

Report: Veteran midfielder's reps in London for talks & Hammers have tabled impressive offer

Report: Veteran midfielder's reps in London for talks & Hammers have tabled impressive offer – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to RMC Sport (via GFFN), West Ham United have tabled an impressive offer for AS Roma midfielder Steven N’Zonzi as they look to seal a loan move for the France international before the end of the January transfer window.
The representatives of the 31-year-old are currently in London as talks continue, but Nzonzi is stalling over accepting the proposal as he is keen to play European football and he is waiting to see if other offers will come in.
Aston Villa are also interested in the former Stoke City star, but they are yet to make a concrete move, and West Ham are way ahead of them in the race.
Nzonzi is currently on loan at Galatasaray, but the Turkish giants want him gone this month and have already excluded him from first-team training.
David Moyes has been tasked with leading the Hammers to Premier League safety, and with 195 top-flight appearances for Blackburn Rovers and Stoke, the World Cup winner brings much-needed experience and steel to the squad.
West Ham could do with Nzonzi in the middle of the park with the duo of Mark Noble and Declan Rice in need of quality cover and competition, and the fact that it’s a potential short-term deal makes sense for both parties.

Guillem Balague shares what he thinks about Bale's potential Spurs return

Guillem Balague shares what he thinks about Bale's potential Spurs return – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a January move for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale, with El Chiringuito TV claiming chairman Daniel Levy has recently held talks with the La Liga giants.
The Wales international left Spurs in the summer of 2013 to join Madrid, and has since won four Champions League titles with them.
The 30-year-old has been routinely linked with a return to North London in recent transfer windows, and unsurprisingly, the reports have resurfaced with Tottenham badly in need of a quality finisher after Harry Kane got ruled out until April through injury.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague doesn’t see Bale returning to Spurs this month, though, and he has reacted to the recent reports claiming so on Twitter:

Nope. A return to Spurs by Garth Bale not being considered https://t.co/UJcotmR5kj
— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) January 22, 2020

Bale currently earns £350,000 a week at Madrid, and he is definitely not in a rush to leave for where he will earn less.
At the moment, Kane and Tanguy Ndombele are Tottenham’s highest earner on £200,000-a-week each, while only four other players earn over £100,000-a-week (according to sillyseason).

'What a lot of rubbish' – Graham Roberts & some Spurs fans fuming at The Sun's report

'What a lot of rubbish' – Graham Roberts & some Spurs fans fuming at The Sun's report – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is facing growing unrest from the players who are dismayed by his old-school tactics and uninspiring training sessions.
The Portuguese replaced Mauricio Pochettino two months ago, and has since led Spurs to six victories, three draws and five defeats across all competitions.
Tottenham are currently nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea ahead of tonight’s game against Norwich City at home, and anything apart from a victory will deal a massive blow on their chances of playing Champions League football next term.
Mourinho and Danny Rose were reportedly involved in a bust-up on Sunday after the left-back was left out of the squad that played Watford, while The Sun claims that the dressing room fears Tanguy Ndombele’s mindset has been damaged after the Portuguese publicly criticized his readiness to play and fitness.
Spurs players are said to regard training sessions as being like ‘lower-league’ sessions, with too much emphasis laid on long balls, flick-ons and throw-ins.
Many Tottenham fans and former star Graham Roberts are refusing to believe the reports, though, and here is how they have reacted on Twitter:

Training can be boring I guess. Especially if defensive drills are needed with lots of repetition. Called ‘hard work’. Suspect Liverpool do it a lot.

Opinion: Klopp will seal masterstroke if Liverpool can sign 23 y/o int'l in scintillating form

Opinion: Klopp will seal masterstroke if Liverpool can sign 23 y/o int'l in scintillating form – originally posted on Sportslens.com
With 91 points out of 93 won in the Premier League, and still holding the tag of being the ‘Champions of Europe’, fans and pundits can be forgiven if they are going overboard by claiming that the present Liverpool squad is one of the best in Premier League history, if not The Best.
What Jurgen Klopp has done to the Liverpool side is simply phenomenal, and if he ends up winning the league title, he will surely book his place among the pantheons of great Liverpool managers of the bygone era – Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Kenny Dalglish, and Rafa Benitez.
By signing a long-term contract, Klopp’s main challenge will be to rebuild the squad again and again, and make it competitive every single time, similar to what Sir Alex Ferguson did at Manchester United. Liverpool have already signed Takumi Minamino on a bargain deal, and it remains to be seen how the Reds can further bolster their impressive squad which fans love to call the ‘ mentality monsters’.
With that in mind, Timo Werner would be a superb signing for the Reds.

Sunday Mirror Sport reported that Klopp is a long-time admirer of Werner. Premier League rivals Chelsea have opened negotiations over a £60 million move, but the German international prefers a move to Merseyside.
The 23-year-old is once again enjoying a dream season in the Bundesliga. He just can’t stop scoring, having managed 20 goals and six assists in the German league already.
However, he brings a lot more to the table than just goals. A typical versatile modern-day striker, Werner can play on the left as well. He is a perfect fit in the Liverpool system, and would be a massive upgrade on Divock Origi who has already done enough to secure a cult-hero status.
He is enjoying the form of his life, but one can feel that he can be a superstar in the future. Liverpool have shown that they’re willing to spend big on top-quality players (Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker for instance), and therefore shouldn’t shy away from spending that money on Werner.
With other clubs circling around him, it’s high time Liverpool bring him to Anfield. Klopp has been outstanding with his signings so far, and it remains to be seen whether he can pull off another masterstroke deal with the capture of Werner.

Report: Spurs stars fear £65m man's mindset has been damaged following Jose's actions

Report: Spurs stars fear £65m man's mindset has been damaged following Jose's actions – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to The Sun, the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room fears Tanguy Ndombele’s mindset has been damaged after boss Jose Mourinho publicly criticized his readiness to play and fitness.
Since his arrival at Spurs from Lyon in the summer for a club-record £65 million, the French midfielder has started just 10 Premier League games.

Against Brighton last December, Jose claimed Ndombele wasn’t injured but not feeling in a condition to play, and he said that the Frenchman was always injured after he limped out during the New Year’s Day defeat against Southampton at Saint Mary’s.
Ndombele has since recovered from a hip injury and is fit to face Norwich City, but his Tottenham teammates already feel for him after Jose’s public criticism of his mentality and fitness.
The Portuguese and left-back Danny Rose were said to have been involved in a spat during a warm-down session on Sunday after the player was omitted from the squad that faced Watford, and Mourinho has to tread carefully with his style going forward.
He is beginning to feel the pressure as Tottenham look to finish in the top-four, and his side need to get a win tonight in order to class the gap between them and Chelsea to six points.

Predicted Spurs starting XI: Mourinho to make three changes, 23-year-old to start

Predicted Spurs starting XI: Mourinho to make three changes, 23-year-old to start – originally posted on Sportslens.com
With four games without a win in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur are making life difficult for themselves.
The mid-week fixture against Norwich presents another opportunity to reduce the gap with fourth-placed Chelsea, who drew 2-2 against Arsenal on Tuesday.
Norwich have shown they can be a handy opponent on their day, but surely Spurs cannot afford to drop points at home against the rock-bottom side in the Premier League.
With Spurs still failing to sign a striker this month, Jose Mourinho’s attacking options are limited. However, new signing Gedson Fernandes could be thrown into the mix today alongside Harry Winks in the middle of the park.

Kyle Walker-Peters looks set to leave the club on loan, while Juan Foyth is nowhere near in Mourinho’s first-team plans at the moment. Japhet Tanganga has done well in recent games, but with Danny Rose fit again, Mourinho could use the experienced English left-back instead.
Mourinho needs to rotate his squad and Davinson Sanchez could start alongside Toby Alderweireld at the back. The 23-year-old Colombian has made 16 Premier League starts this season, but has struggled to hit the form he showed during his debut campaign.
Here’s the predicted Spurs starting XI: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Rose, Winks, Fernandes, Lo Celso, Alli, Moura, Son.

Predicted West Ham starting XI: Moyes to make one change, 26-year-old to start

Predicted West Ham starting XI: Moyes to make one change, 26-year-old to start – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham United will be looking to get back to winning ways after failing to win their previous two Premier League games.
The Hammers lost 1-0 against Sheffield United and drew their last game (1-1) against Everton.
David Moyes has said in the press conference that he is happy that the Hammers are not conceding enough goals, and that he is overall pleased with his performance of his players.
West Ham find themselves just above the drop zone with 23 points. They are on the same points with Bournemouth and Watford, and are only marginally ahead due to a better goal difference.

The Hammers now face Leicester who have done remarkably well under Brendan Rodgers this season. The Foxes have dropped to third in the table following their back to back defeats against Southampton and Burnley.
Felipe Anderson has a back problem, and won’t feature against the Foxes on Wednesday. The Brazilian could be out for up to four weeks. Michail Antonio is getting closer to fitness but he is out for this game as well.
Moyes probably would be looking to make just one change to the side, with 26-year-old Arthur Masuaku replacing Manuel Lanzini who has been very poor in recent games.
Predicted West Ham starting XI: Randolph, Cresswell, Zabaleta, Ogbonna, Diop, Masuaku, Snodgrass, Noble, Fornals, Rice, Haller.

Report: PL rival have made contact to sign £30m Spurs and Everton target

Report: PL rival have made contact to sign £30m Spurs and Everton target – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to reports from The Athletic, Manchester United have ‘made contact’ with AC Milan over the signing of Krzysztof Piatek.
The Red Devils are looking for reinforcements in attack following the injury to Marcus Rashford who is expected to remain out of action for a lengthy spell.
The England striker has suffered a double stress fracture to his back, and could be out for up to three months. United need to sign a striker and have reportedly earmarked Piatek as a potential option.
The 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact at San Siro and has been linked with a move away from the club. Piatek has scored four goals in 14 Serie A starts this season.

The Poland international has been reportedly chased by Tottenham Hotspur and Everton this month. Spurs were keen to sign him on loan, but were put off by Milan’s £30m valuation of the player.
However, the report claims that United ‘had already enquired about the availability of Piatek prior to Rashford’s injury’ and the Red Devils are hopeful of signing him on loan this month.
In fact, Milan could allow the player to move to Old Trafford provided there’s an agreement that includes an obligation for United to sign permanently at the end of the season.
Piatek could be a good short-term option for United, but whether they would be willing to buy him permanently at the end of the season remains to be seen.
